Ajit Pawar Capable Of Becoming Maharashtra Chief Minister: Sanjay Raut

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Sanjay Raut on Saturday said Nationalist Congress Party leader Ajit Pawar was capable of becoming Maharashtra chief minister since he has vast administrative experience, the statement coming days after the two engaged in a verbal tussle.

Notably, amid speculation surrounding his next political move, Ajit Pawar on Friday said he would "100 per cent" like to become the chief minister. He had also said that NCP can stake a claim to the post of chief minister "now also" instead of waiting for 2024.

Mr Raut, a key aide of Uddhav Thackeray, also said some undeserving people had gone on to become the chief minister of the state by engineering splits, an apparent reference to Eknath Shinde whose rebellion along with 40 MLAs in June last year brought down the Maha Vikas Aghadi government. Mr Raut also said there is no difference regarding the chief minister's post in the Maha Vikas Aghadi, which includes Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP, and Congress, and the alliance is united and strong.

He asserted that the MVA will come back (to power) in 2024 and it "will look into it (the post of chief minister)".

"Who would not like to be chief minister? And Ajit Pawar is capable of becoming chief minister. He has been in politics for so many years now and has been a minister several times. He holds a record for having served as deputy CM the most number of times. Everyone thinks one should become CM," Mr Raut told reporters.

On November 23, 2019, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Devendra Fadnavis, and Ajit Pawar, were sworn in as chief minister and deputy CM, respectively, but the government fell without proving its majority on November 28.

Ajit Pawar went back to the NCP and was made deputy CM in the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray.

During an interview with a media house in Pune, Ajit Pawar on Friday responded to a query on his chief ministerial ambitions by saying "yes, I would 100 per cent like to be (CM)".

Queried on this, Mr Raut said, "He (Ajit Pawar) has not expressed this desire for the first time. So my best wishes to him." These statements come amid intense speculation about Ajit Pawar's next political move, as the mercurial NCP leader cancelled some of his programmes recently, went incommunicado briefly and skipped the party's one-day convention in Mumbai on Friday.

While there is a buzz about his growing proximity with the ruling BJP, Ajit Pawar has said he will be with the NCP till he is alive, and Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule also recently stated the former was not in touch with the saffron party.

Sparks flew recently between Ajit Pawar and Mr Raut after the latter's weekly column in Shiv Sena (UBT) mouthpiece 'Saamana' dealt on a meeting between NCP chief Sharad Pawar and Uddhav Thackeray.

Mr Raut, in his column, claimed Sharad Pawar had told Thackeray that the NCP would never align with the BJP, though "if anyone takes a personal decision to leave, it is their individual issue".

Hitting back, Mr Pawar, on Tuesday, trained his guns on Mr Raut and said some spokespersons of other parties were behaving like spokespersons of the NCP.

The former deputy chief minister also said he would raise this issue whenever there is a meeting of the NCP.

Mr Raut responded by saying he listens only to Sharad Pawar.

बिहार शरीफ के पहाड़पुरा मोहल्ले में हुआ तेज धमाका, दो लोग घायल

बिहार शरीफ के पहाड़पुरा मोहल्ले में शनिवार की दोपहर अचानक बम फटने की आवाज सुनाई दी. इसके बाद इलाके में अफरा-तफरी का माहौल हो गया. घटना की जानकारी मिलते ही डीएम और एसपी घटनास्थल पहुंचे और पूरे मामले की जांच की. स्थानीय लोगों की मानें तो अचानक तेज धमाका हुआ. अभी तक दो लोगो के जख्मी होने की पुष्टि हुई है.

इस मामले में नालंदा के डीएम शशांक शुभंकर और एसपी अशोक मिश्रा ने बताया की घटना की सूचना मिलने के बाद हमलोग घटना स्थल पर पहुंचे, वहां खून का छींटा पाया गया है और दो लोग जख्मी हुए हैं. मामले की जांच के लिए एफएसएल की टीम को बुलाया गया है. जांच के बाद ही स्पष्ट होगा कि धमाका किस चीज में हुआ है.

हाल ही में रामनवमी के मौके पर शोभायात्रा निकालने के दौरान बिहार शरीफ में हिंसा हुई थी. इस वजह से पुलिस इस मामले को लेकर बेहद सतर्क है. मामले की जांच जारी है और पता लगाया जा रहा कि विस्फोट कैसे हुआ.

दिल्ली : कोविड-19 के डेढ़ हजार से ज्‍यादा मामले आए सामने, बीते 24 घंटे में छह मरीजों की मौत

राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में शनिवार को कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण के दैनिक मामले लगातार डेढ़ हजार के करीब बने हुए हैं. दिल्‍ली में बीते 24 घंटे के दौरान कोरोना के 1,515 नए मामले सामने आए है. हालांकि दिल्‍ली में आज कोरोना के चलते छह और मरीजों की मौत हो गई. स्वास्थ्य विभाग की ओर से जारी आंकड़ों से यह जानकारी मिली है. स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य विभाग के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, दिल्ली में कोविड-19 से अब तक संक्रमित हुए लोगों की संख्या बढ़कर 20,32,424 हो गई है. वहीं, मृतकों की संख्‍या का कुल आंकड़ा बढ़कर 26,595 पर पहुंच गया है. 

आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, दिल्ली में कोविड-19 संक्रमण दर 26.46 प्रतिशत दर्ज की गई है. वहीं, शहर में कोविड के मरीजों के लिए उपलब्ध अस्पताल के कुल 7,974 बिस्तरों में से फिलहाल 385 पर मरीज भर्ती हैं. 

आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, दिल्ली में कोविड-19 के उपचाराधीन मरीजों की संख्या 6,271 पर पहुंच गई है. वहीं, 4,395 संक्रमित अपने घर में पृथकवास में रह रहे हैं. 

बता दें कि हाल ही में केंद्र सरकार ने देश के 8 राज्‍यों को कोरोना के बढ़ते मामलों को लेकर विशेष निर्देश दिए हैं. केंद्र ने बढ़ते मामलों को लेकर लेकर राज्‍यों को संक्रमण दर पर नजर रखने के लिए कहा है. साथ ही केंद्र सरकार की ओर से कहा गया है कि महामारी अभी खत्‍म नहीं हुई है.

"Why Did He Take Oath As Minister?" Congress Leader Slams Ajit Pawar

Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole on Saturday hit back at Ajit Pawar, saying the NCP leader should have quit the government led by Congress' Prithviraj Chavan in 2010-14 itself if he was unhappy.

He also appeared making light of Ajit Pawar's remarks that he would "100 per cent like to be the chief minister", saying if the NCP leader has a majority of 145 MLAs, then he must become the CM.

The Congress is a constituent in the Maha Vikas Aghadi along with Shiv Sena (Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray), and the Nationalist Congress Party.

"Ajit Pawar was in the government led by Congress leader Prithviraj Chavan from 2010 to 2014. Why did he take the oath as a minister if he was helpless? Prithviraj Chavan is our leader and it is not expected that Ajit Pawar will say this about him.

"If Ajit Pawar was unhappy in the Congress-NCP government, he should have left that time itself," Mr Patole told reporters.

Ajit Pawar had served as deputy Chief Minister from November 2010 to September 2014 when Prithviraj Chavan was chief minister.

During his interview with the Sakal Media Group in Pune on Friday, Ajit Pawar was asked whether he liked working with Congress chief minister Prithviraj Chavan or Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Uddhav Thackeray, who occupied the post from November 2019 to June 2022. To which, the NCP leader replied they worked "happily" with Mr Thackeray, but working with Mr Chavan was not by choice but as per the directions of seniors.

Queried on Ajit Pawar's statement regarding the post of the chief minister, Mr Patole said it is nothing wrong if a politician is nursing ambitions to lead the state.

"If Ajit Pawar has a majority of 145 MLAs (out of 288 in Maharashtra Assembly), then he must become the chief minister,'' Mr Patole said.

Amid speculation over his next political move, Ajit Pawar on Friday said NCP can stake a claim to the post of Maharashtra's chief minister "now also" instead of waiting for 2024 when Assembly polls are due in the state.

सूडान में फंसे भारतीयों की मदद के लिए सऊदी अरब आगे आया है. 12 देशों के 66 नागरिकों को संघर्ष प्रभावित सूडान से सऊदी अरब लाया गया है, जिनमें कुछ भारतीय भी शामिल हैं. सऊदी और अन्‍य नागरिकों को लेकर एक जहाज आज जेद्दा पहुंचा. इससे पहले, सूडान से भारतीयों को निकालने को लेकर विदेश मंत्री एस जयशंकर ने मंगलवार को अपने सऊदी समकक्ष फैजल बिन फरहान अल सऊद से बातचीत की थी. सऊदी अरब ने अपने मित्र देशों के नागरिकों को भी निकालने का भी फैसला किया है. भारतीय विदेश मंत्री ने यूएई से भी इसे लेकर बातचीत की थी. साथ ही अमेरिका और ब्रिटेन की सरकारों के साथ भी हमारे मिशन संपर्क में हैं. 

सऊदी विदेश मंत्रालय ने ट्वीट किया कि हमें यह बताते हुए खुशी है कि किंगडम नेतृत्व के निर्देशों को अमल में लाते हुए हम सूडान से सऊदी नागरिकों के साथ-साथ दूसरे मित्र देशों के नागरिकों को भी सुरक्षित निकालने में सफल रहे हैं.  इनमें  राजनयिक और अंतरराष्ट्रीय अधिकारी भी शामिल हैं.

समाचार एजेंसी एएफपी ने अल-अखबारिया के हवाले से बताया कि जो लोग जेद्दा पहुंचे हैं, उनमें एक सऊदी यात्री विमान का चालक दल शामिल है, जो 15 अप्रैल को लड़ाई की शुरुआत में खार्तूम से उड़ान भरने की तैयारी के दौरान गोलियों की चपेट में आ गया था. 

एएफपी के मुताबिक, वाहनों के एक काफिले ने उन्‍हें पोर्ट सूडान तक पहुंचाया, जहां से वे जहाजों में सवार होकर जेद्दा पहुंचे. जहां अधिकारियों और सैनिकों ने ईद के मौके पर मिठाइयां बांटकर उनका स्वागत किया. 

बता दें कि सूडान में मिलिट्री और पैरा मिलिट्री के बीच युद्ध जारी है. यहां पर करीब 3 हजार से ज्‍यादा भारतीय फंसे हुए हैं.

"Not For Speaking Against Us": Amit Shah As CBI Summons Satya Pal Malik

Union Home Minister Amit Shah has said that former Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satya Pal Malik has been called by the Central Bureau of Investigation "for third time" as part of the investigation in an alleged insurance scam and noted that there was no relation of the summons and his allegations against BJP-led government.

Amit Shah said the BJP government has not done any such thing which needs to be hidden from people. He said if certain remarks are made for personal, political self-interest, those should be treated likewise.

"According to my information, he has been called a second or third time. An investigation is underway, some new information or proof must have come to light and he has been called for the third time. There is no truth in this that he has been called for speaking against us," Mr Shah said at Karnataka Roundtable organised by India Today.

Referring to Mr Malik's allegations against the BJP-led government, Mr Shah said he should be asked "why these things (have) come to mind after leaving us".

"Why is not the soul awoken when you are in power...the credibility of such remarks should be seen by people, journalists...if all this is true, why was he quiet when he was Governor..these are not issues of public discussion. I want to say to the people of the country that the BJP-led government hasn't done any such thing which needs to be hidden. If some remarks are made for personal, political self-interest after leaving us, those should be evaluated by the people, media...," Amit Shah said.

Answering another query about the decision to appoint Satya Pal Malik as Jammu and Kashmir Governor, Mr Shah said he had worked in BJP for a long time and was also a former party vice president.

"A selection was made, sometimes this happens in politics...If someone keeps changing attitude, form from time to time, what can we do, people should understand," he said.

Satya Pal Malik on Friday said that he has been called by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for giving clarification regarding the alleged insurance scam in Jammu and Kashmir.

"CBI has asked me to come to their Delhi office to give clarification regarding the alleged insurance scam in J-K on April 27 or 28," he said when asked on the alleged insurance scam involving Reliance General Insurance.

He had earlier alleged the involvement of Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) functionary in the matter.

Responding to Mr Malik's allegations, Ram Madhav had on April 13 sent him a legal notice demanding a public apology from him within 48 hours.

Speaking about the Karnataka elections, Amit Shah said that the BJP will return to power with an absolute majority.

"This time BJP will return to form government in Karnataka with full majority. I'm confident that we will win 15-20 seats more than the halfway mark."

Asked about JD(S), he said voting for it "means voting for Congress".

Answering queries, he said there was no chance of a hung assembly and BJP will get a majority. Polling to elect a new Karnataka assembly will be held on May 10 and results will be declared on May 13.

कर्नाटक में जीत के लिए जातियों का गणित, सभी दलों ने इन समीकरणों को साधने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी

दस मई को होने वाले कर्नाटक विधानसभा चुनाव के लिए अब मैदान तैयार हो चुका है. तीनों प्रमुख दलों बीजेपी, कांग्रेस और जेडीएस के उम्मीदवारों की सूची का विश्लेषण करने पर पता चलता है कि इन्हें तय करने में तीनों ही दलों ने जातिगत समीकरणों का ध्यान रखा है. बीजेपी और कांग्रेस दोनों ने सबसे ज्यादा टिकट लिंगायत और फिर वोक्कालिंगा समुदाय को दिए. जबकि जेडीएस ने वोक्कालिंगा को सबसे अधिक टिकट दिए हैं. 

बीजेपी ने किसी मुसलमान को टिकट नहीं दिया. कांग्रेस ने 15 मुस्लिम उम्मीदवार मैदान में उतारे हैं और जेडीएस ने बीस. हालांकि सवाल यह भी है कि क्या प्रधानमंत्री मोदी की छवि और लाभार्थी की उनकी राजनीति जातिगत समीकरणों पर भारी पड़ेगी? 

जातीय समीकरण साधने में जुटी तीनों पार्टियों किस तरह ने उम्मीदवारों का चयन किया है? दलों का लिंगायत-वोक्कालिगा पर पूरा फ़ोकस है. टिकट बांटने में जातीय समीकरण का ध्यान रखा गया है. इस बार भी लिंगायत और वोक्कालिगा समुदाय पर ही पूरा फोकस है.  

बीजेपी के कुल 30% उम्मीदवार लिंगायत समुदाय के हैं. कर्नाटक में करीब 17% लोग लिंगायत समुदाय के हैं. जेडीएस ने सबसे ज़्यादा 22% टिकट वोक्कालिगा समुदाय को दिए हैं. कांग्रेस ने 23% टिकट लिंगायत और 20% वोक्कालिंगा को दिए हैं. बीजेपी ने यूपी, गुजरात की तरह कर्नाटक में भी किसी मुस्लिम को टिकट नहीं दिया. कांग्रेस ने 13% मुस्लिम आबादी वाले कर्नाटक में 7% टिकट मुसलमानों को दिए हैं. 

साल 2018 में बीजेपी ने 25% से ज़्यादा आबादी वाली 78 लिंगायत सीटों में से 37 सीटें जीती थीं. 2018 में बीजेपी वोक्कालिंगा की 44 सीटों में से सिर्फ 12 सीटें जीत पाई थी. वोक्कालिंगा बहुल सीटों में सेंध लगाना बीजेपी के लिए चुनौती है. जेडीएस का प्रदर्शन अपने कोर वोटर वोक्कालिंगा पर ही निर्भर है. 2018 में जेडीएस ने वोक्कालिंगा की 44 सीटों में से 37.1% वोटों के साथ 22 सीटें जीती थीं.

बीजेपी ने लिंगायत समुदाय के 68 उम्मीदवार चुनाव मैदान में उतारे हैं. कांग्रेस के 51 और जेडीएस के 23 उम्मीदवार लिंगायत समाज से हैं. वोक्कालिंगा की बात करें तो इस समुदाय के बीजेपी के 224 में से 42 उम्मीदवार, कांग्रेस के 45 और जेडीएस के 37 उम्मीदवार हैं. जेडीएस का सबसे बड़ा आंकड़ा इसी समुदाय का है. 

अनुसूचित जाति के बीजेपी ने 38, कांग्रेस ने 36 और जेडीएस ने 31 उम्मीदवार मैदान में उतारे हैं. अनुसूचित जनजाति समुदाय से बीजेपी के 17, कांग्रेस के 16 और जेडीएस के 12 प्रत्यशी हैं. मुस्लिम उम्मीदवारों की बात करें तो कांग्रेस के 15 और जेडीएस के 20 उम्मीदवार इस समुदाय से हैं. बीजेपी ने किसी मुस्लिम को प्रत्याशी नहीं बनाया है. 

जाति-धर्म और उनकी आबादी के आधार पर टिकटों के बंटवारे को देखें तो कर्नाटक में लिंगायत समुदाय 17 प्रतिशत है. इस समुदाय को बीजेपी ने 30 प्रतिशत, कांग्रेस ने 23 और जेडीएस ने 14 प्रतिशत सीटों पर उम्मीदवारी दी है. वोक्कालिंगा की आबादी 12 प्रतिशत है. बीजेपी के इस समुदाय से 19 प्रतिशत, कांग्रेस के 20 प्रतिशत और जेडीएस के 22 प्रतिशत उम्मीदवार हैं. राज्य में अनुसूचित जाति की जनसंख्या 17 प्रतिशत है. बीजेपी के 17 प्रतिशत, कांग्रेस के 16 और जेडीएस के 19 प्रतिशत उम्मीदवार अनुसूचित जाति के हैं. अनुसूचित जनजाति की आबादी 7 प्रतिशत है. बीजेपी के इस समुदाय के 8, कांग्रेस के 7 और जेडीएस के 7 फीसदी उम्मीदवार हैं. कर्नाटक में मुस्लिम आबादी 13 प्रतिशत है. बीजेपी का मुस्लिम समुदाय का कोई उम्मीदवार नहीं है. कांग्रेस के 7 प्रतिशत और जेडीएस के 12 प्रतिशत मुस्लिम उम्मीदवार हैं. यह विश्लेषण जेडीएस के 224 में से 167 उम्मीदवारों का ही है.

साल 2018 के चुनाव परिणाम में राज्य की 78 लिंगायत बहुल सीटों पर नजर डालें तो बीजेपी ने 2018 में लिंगायत की 47 सीटें जीती थीं और इन पर 42.5% वोट हासिल किए थे. कांग्रेस को 25 सीटें और 38.6% वोट मिले थे. जेडीएस और बीएसपी ने 5 सीटें जीती थीं और 10.6% वोट हासिल किए थे. अन्य ने लिंगायत की एक सीट जीती थी और 8.3% वोट प्राप्त किए थे. 
                    
साल 2018 के चुनाव में वोक्कालिंगा समुदाय के प्रभाव वाली 44 सीटों के नतीजों में  बीजेपी को 12 सीटें  और 23.6% प्रतिशत मत मिले थे. कांग्रेस को 10 सीटें और 33.5% वोट, जेडीएस और बीएसपी को 22 सीटें और 37.1% वोट एवं अन्य को कोई सीट नहीं मिली थी, हालांकि 5.8% वोट मिले थे.    

लिंगायत समुदाय में कई उपजातियां हैं. इस बार चुनाव में इन उपजातियों के आधार पर उतारे गए उम्मीदवारों को देखें तो पंचमसाली के बीजेपी ने 18 और कांग्रेस ने 14 उम्मीदवार उतारे हैं. सदरू के बीजेपी के 11, कांग्रेस के 7, वीराशैवा के बीजेपी के 8, कांग्रेस के 3, बनजिगा के बीजेपी के 7, कांग्रेस के  4, अन्य उपजातियों के बीजेपी के 24 और कांग्रेस के 18 उम्मीदवार हैं. 

तीनों पार्टियों ने जातिगत समीकरणों को साधने में कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ी है. कर्नाटक में जाति का फैक्टर महत्वपूर्ण है. लिंगायत में भी कई उपजातियां हैं. इन्हें टिकट देने में किन पैमानों का ध्यान रखा गया है.

एनडीटीवी के डिप्टी एडिटर-साउथ नेहाल किदवई ने कहा कि, जब उम्मीदवारों का चयन किया जाता है तो इस बात का ध्यान रखा जाता है कि किस क्षेत्र में सबसे ज्यादा आबादी किस समुदाय की है. यह भी ध्यान रखा जाता है कि उस आबादी को समर्थन देने वाली कौन सी जाति है. उसी के आधार पर टिकटों का बंटवारा होता है. 

BQ प्राइम के एग्ज़ीक्यूटिव एडिटर वीर राघव ने कहा कि, 1990 के बाद से कांग्रेस ने कुछ सीटों पर कम्पीट करना ही छोड़ दिया है. जैसे हुगली धारवाड़ की जगदीश शेट्टार की सीट है. कांग्रेस चाहती है कि वह इन सीटों पर वापस जोर लगाए.

"उन्हें कानूनों का सम्मान करना चाहिए...": BBC, Oxfam India विवाद पर UK के राजदूत

भारत में यूके के शीर्ष राजनयिक ने शुक्रवार को NDTV से खास बातचीत में कहा कि ब्रिटिश संगठन जो अन्य देशों में काम कर रहे हैं, उन्हें उन देशों के कानूनों का पालन करना चाहिए. उन्होंने यह बात भारतीय एजेंसियों द्वारा विदेशी फंडिंग नियमों के कथित उल्लंघन के लिए Oxfam India और बीबीसी के खिलाफ जांच के कुछ दिनों बाद कही है.

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय ने विदेशी मुद्रा प्रबंधन अधिनियम के तहत बीबीसी इंडिया के खिलाफ मामला दर्ज किया है. मामला इस बात से संबंधित है कि भारत में संगठन विदेशों से फंड कैसे प्राप्त कर सकते हैं. बीबीसी पर विदेशी फंडिंग नियमों के उल्लंघन के आरोपों के बाद अधिकारी ब्रिटिश-स्थापित गैर-लाभकारी संस्था ऑक्सफैम इंडिया की भी जांच कर रहे हैं. भारत में ब्रिटिश उच्चायुक्त एलेक्स एलिस ने कहा कि वे इन मामलों से वाकिफ हैं, लेकिन नियमों के मुताबिक वो ऑक्सफैम इंडिया मामले की डिटेल नहीं दे सकते हैं. 

भारत में ब्रिटिश उच्चायुक्त एलेक्स एलिस ने NDTV से कहा, "यूके में कुछ विश्व स्तर पर सम्मानित संस्थान हैं. बीबीसी उनमें से एक है. यह स्पष्ट है कि बीबीसी को उस देश के कानूनों का सम्मान करना चाहिए, जहां वो काम कर रही है." उन्होंने कहा, "मुझे पता है कि भारतीय अधिकारी ऑक्सफैम और बीबीसी से बात कर रहे हैं. उन्हें इससे निपटना है. अहम सवाल ये है कि ये दोनों क्या भारत के कानूनों के दायरे में रहकर काम कर रहे हैं?"

जांचकर्ताओं ने आरोप लगाया है कि ऑक्सफैम इंडिया ने 2013 और 2016 के बीच निर्दिष्ट बैंक खाते के बजाय सीधे अपने 'विदेशी योगदान उपयोग खाते' में 1.5 करोड़ रुपये प्राप्त किए. जांचकर्ताओं द्वारा दायर की गई शिकायत में यह भी आरोप लगाया गया है कि ऑक्सफैम इंडिया ने विदेशी योगदान (विनियमन) अधिनियम के उल्लंघन में वित्तीय वर्ष 2019-20 में एक अन्य गैर-लाभकारी थिंक टैंक सेंटर फॉर पॉलिसी रिसर्च को 12.71 लाख रुपये दिए.

ऑक्सफैम इंडिया मामले के बारे में पूछे जाने पर एलिस ने कहा, "मैं मामले के विवरण में नहीं जा रहा हूं. निश्चित रूप से हम भारतीय अधिकारियों से कई मुद्दों पर बात करते हैं, लेकिन मैं इससे ज्यादा कुछ नहीं कह सकता."

बीबीसी ने जनवरी में प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और 2002 के गुजरात दंगों पर "इंडिया: द मोदी क्वेश्चन" नाम से एक डॉक्यूमेंट्री चलाई थी. सरकार ने बीबीसी की इस सीरीज को प्रोपगेंडा करार दिया था. भारत में बीबीसी की विवादित डॉक्यूमेंट्री को बैन भी कर दिया गया था.

हाल ही में आयकर विभाग ने करों में अनियमितताओं, मुनाफे के डायवर्जन और नियमों का पालन न करने के आरोपों को लेकर बीबीसी के दिल्ली और मुंबई स्थित दफ्तरों में आईटी सर्वे किया था. सर्वे के दौरान बीबीसी के वरिष्ठ कर्मचारियों को सवालों के जवाब देने के लिए रात भर ऑफिस में रुकना पड़ा था.

Kerala Priest, 77, Arrested For Sexually Harassing Teen: Police

An orthodox church priest was arrested for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl in Muvattupuzha, police said on Friday. According to the press statement issued by Ernakulam Rural Police, an orthodox church priest Shemavoon Ramba, a native of Pathanamthitta and aged 77 years was arrested for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl in Muvattupuzha.

The priest has been removed from official duties after the alleged incident, the police said.

"The incident happened on April 3. As per the complaint received by the police, the priest allegedly molested the minor girl in the church. The police registered a case based on the girl's complaint," reads the statement.

The priest has been charged under the POCSO act, the police said.

The police said, "The priest was called to the police station this morning and arrested. The priest, a native of Pathanamthitta, came to the church in Muvattupuzha temporarily as part of the Easter celebration."

The investigation team includes Inspector PH Sameesh, Sub Inspector KP Siddhique, Additional Sub Inspector MS Manoj and Shalvi Augustine, as informed by the police.

Earlier in March this year, a priest was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a 17-year-old girl in Kerala's Pathanamthitta district.

The accused was identified as Pondson John connected with St Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church.

The alleged incident happened on March 12 and 13. The Class 12 student was taken for counselling by the priest.

According to the police, the Class 12 student in her complaint said that the priest misbehaved with her when she went for counselling on March 12 and 13.

The police registered a case under sections 3,4,7 and 8 of the POCSO Act.

While a Kerala court in January last year acquitted Bishop Franco Mulakkal in the nun rape case.

The complaint was filed by a nun wherein she alleged that she was raped 13 times by Mulakkal between 2014 and 2016 when he was a bishop in the Missionaries of Jesus, Jalandhar diocese.

The complaint was filed on June 27, 2018, and Franco Mulakkal was arrested on September 21 on charges of 7 IPC sections including rape. The prosecution had examined 39 witnesses in the case.

The trial in the case began in November 2019. After three long years, it was finally completed on Monday, January 10, 2022.

आईफोन बनाने वाली कंपनी एप्पल के मुख्य कार्यपालक अधिकारी टिम कुक ने दोबारा भारत आने की इच्छा जताते हुए पांच दिनों की अपनी यात्रा का समापन किया. कुक भारत में एप्पल की मौजूदगी के 25 वर्ष पूरा होने के मौके पर आए थे. इस दौरान उन्होंने मुंबई में एप्पल के पहले आधिकारिक स्टोर का उद्घाटन करने के अलावा दिल्ली में भी एप्पल के स्टोर पर ग्राहकों का स्वागत किया.

टिम कुक ने अपनी यात्रा पूरी होने पर एक ट्वीट में कहा, ‘‘भारत में कितना शानदार सप्ताह रहा! देश में हमारी जो टीमें हैं उनका शुक्रिया. मुझे यहां दोबारा आने का इंतजार रहेगा.''

Scientists' Open Letter After NCERT Drops Evolution From Class 10 Textbook

A group of more than 1,800 scientists, science teachers and educators has written an open letter raising concerns about the chapter on "Theory of Biological Evolution" being dropped from the NCERT textbook for Class 10.

The signatories to the letter include scientists from noted institutions such as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and IITs, among others.

As part of its curriculum rationalisation exercise, the NCERT had last year announced that the chapter "Heredity and Evolution" will be replaced with "Heredity" in the Class 10 science textbook.

Among the topics dropped from the chapter are 'Evolution', 'Acquired and Inherited Traits', 'Tracing Evolutionary Relationships', 'Fossils', 'Evolution by Stages', 'Evolution Should Not Be Equated With Progress' and 'Human Evolution'.

The new books as per the rationalised curriculum have hit the market now with the commencement of new academic session.

Demanding that the theory of Darwinian evolution be restored in secondary education, the signatories, who are part of the "Breakthrough Science Society", have said that understanding the process of evolution is "crucial in building a scientific temper" and depriving students of this exposure is "travesty of education".

"Knowledge and understanding of evolutionary biology is important not just to any sub-field of biology, but is also key to understanding the world around us. Evolutionary biology is an area of science with a huge impact on how we choose to deal with an array of problems we face as societies and nations from medicine and drug discovery, epidemiology, ecology and environment, to psychology, and it also addresses our understanding of humans and their place in the tapestry of life," the letter said.

"Although many of us do not explicitly realise, the principles of natural selection help us understand how any pandemic progresses or why certain species go extinct, among many other critical issues," it added.

The scientists noted that in the current educational structure, only a small fraction of students choose the science stream in grade 11 or 12, and an even smaller fraction of those choose biology as one of the subjects of study.

"Thus, the exclusion of key concepts from the curriculum till grade 10 amounts to a vast majority of students missing a critical part of essential learning in this field," the letter said.

Dropping of several topics and chapters by the NCERT has been caught in controversy with several chapters, which were not notified by the council last year, found missing from the new textbooks.

While earlier the NCERT had claimed that not mentioning certain changes in the rationalisation booklet could have been an "oversight", later it said "minor changes need not be notified".

"Murder Of Constitution": Sharad Pawar On Naroda Gam Acquittals

NCP president Sharad Pawar on Friday termed the acquittal of all 67 accused in the 2002 Naroda Gam riot case as the "murder of rule of law and the Constitution."

Speaking at a gathering of Nationalist Congress Party's workers in suburban Ghatkopar, he also blamed the Maharashtra government for the deaths of people due to sunstroke at the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Kharghar, and demanded a judicial probe.

A court in Gujarat on Thursday acquitted all surviving 67 accused in the case related to the killing of 11 Muslims during a riot in Ahmedabad's Naroda Gam area in 2002 in the aftermath of the Godhra train burning incident.

''The rule of law and Constitution have been murdered. This has been proved by yesterday's verdict,'' Pawar said.

Speaking on the Kharghar sunstroke deaths, the NCP chief accused the Eknath Shinde-led Maharashtra government of negligence in the organisation of the award ceremony on April 16.

Only a probe by a retired judge will fix responsibility for the tragedy, he said.

Mr Pawar also accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of misusing power to finish off opposition parties.

"(NCP leader) Anil Deshmukh was jailed for 13 months on allegations of taking bribes of Rs 100 crore, and in the charge sheet the probe agency described donations of Rs one and a half crore for his educational institution as a bribe. I also head several educational institutions, if I take donations for them, are they supposed to be bribes,'' he asked.

Nawab Malik, another NCP leader, was still languishing in jail, Mr Pawar added.

"Fundamentalism is growing in the country and we need to stay alert. We have to fight back against it at any cost,'' he said.

Maharashtra Board Schools To Close From Today Over Heat Wave Conditions

All schools affiliated to the state board in Maharashtra will remain closed from Friday in view of the heat wave conditions, the government said.

Schools of other boards can take decision about closure after considering their curriculum and activities, said the order issued by the School Education Department on Thursday.

Except for Vidarbha, schools in the state will reopen on June 15. Those in Vidarbha will restart from June 30, the order said.

At least 14 persons died due to heat stroke after attending the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Navi Mumbai on April 16.

मानहानि केस: कोर्ट के झटके के बाद राहुल गांधी शनिवार को खाली करेंगे सरकारी बंगला: सूत्र

मोदी सरनेम वाले आपराधिक मानहानि केस (Modi Surname Defamation Case) में सजा के खिलाफ कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी (Rahul Gandhi ) की याचिका सूरत कोर्ट ने खारिज कर दी है. एडिशनल सेशन कोर्ट जज आरपी मोगेरा गुरुवार को कोर्ट में आए और इस याचिका पर केवल एक शब्द कहा- 'डिसमिस्ड.' जज मोगेरा ने इस मामले पर 13 अप्रैल को दोनों पक्षों की दलीलें सुनी थीं और फैसला सुरक्षित रख लिया था. इस मामले की सीधी जानकारी रखने वाले सूत्रों ने NDTV के बताया कि याचिका खारिज होने के बाद अब राहुल गांधी शनिवार को 10 तुगलक लेन स्थित अपना सरकारी बंगला छोड़ देंगे. उनका सामान पहले ही सोनिया गांधी के सरकारी बंगले में शिफ्ट किया जा चुका है. अब राहुल हाईकोर्ट में अपील करेंगे.

मानहानि केस में 23 मार्च को राहुल गांधी को 2 साल की सजा सुनाई गई थी. इसके अगले ही दिन यानी 24 मार्च को उनकी लोकसभा सदस्यता भी रद्द हो गई. इसके बाद 27 मार्च को उन्हें सरकारी बंगला खाली करने का नोटिस मिला था. बंगला खाली करने की मियाद 22 अप्रैल है.

2005 में अलॉट हुआ था बंगला
सुप्रीम कोर्ट के एक आदेश के अनुसार, दो साल की सजा पाने वाला दोषी सांसद या विधायक नहीं रह सकता. ऐसे केस में सदस्यता रद्द होने पर सरकारी बंगला खाली करना होता है. राहुल गांधी 10 तुगलक लेन स्थित बंगले में 2005 से रह रहे थे.

2019 में दिया था मोदी सरनेम वाला बयान
मानहानि का केस 2019 में लोकसभा चुनाव के दौरान कर्नाटक के कोलार में हुई चुनावी रैली में राहुल के बयान से जुड़ा है. राहुल गांधी ने रैली में कहा था- 'हर चोर का सरनेम मोदी क्यों होता है.' इस बयान पर गुजरात के बीजेपी विधायक पूर्णेश मोदी ने मानहानि का केस दाखिल किया था. 

अपील के लिए 30 दिन का समय 
गुजरात की अदालत ने सजा के खिलाफ आगे अपील के लिए राहुल गांधी को 30 दिन का समय दिया था. राहुल ने सजा के खिलाफ अपील की और उनकी याचिका सूरत कोर्ट में खारिज हो गई. इसका मतलब यह है कि राहुल को अभी सांसद के रूप में बहाल नहीं किया जा सकता है. कांग्रेस के मुताबिक, राहुल गांधी अब हाईकोर्ट में अपील करेंगे.

राहुल गांधी ने दी थीं ये दलीलें
सुनवाई के दौरान राहुल गांधी के वकील आरएस चीमा ने एडिशनल सेशन कोर्ट के जज आरपी मोगेरा को दलील दी थी कि मानहानि का केस उचित नहीं था. केस में अधिकतम सजा की भी जरूरत नहीं थी. उन्होंने कहा था- 'सत्ता एक अपवाद है, लेकिन कोर्ट को सजा के परिणामों पर विचार करना चाहिए. विचार करना चाहिए कि क्या दोषी को ज्यादा नुकसान होगा. ऐसी सजा मिलना अन्याय है.' 

वहीं, मानहानि का केस करने वाले पूर्णेश मोदी ने कहा था कि राहुल गांधी बार-बार मानहानि वाले बयान देने के आदी हैं.

Vote For AAP In Place Of Congress: Arvind Kejriwal Before Jalandhar Polls

Ahead of next month's Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll, AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal Thursday appealed to people of the constituency to vote for his party if they want development, claiming the Congress did nothing for them in 60 years.

"We are doing good work and with honesty," he said, addressing a gathering here. "Vote for us in place of Congress...give us one chance," the Delhi chief minister added.

"For past 60 years, Jalandhar has been represented by a Congress MP. For 60 years, you voted for the Congress. What did you get? Did the Congress give you anything? Nothing," Arvind Kejriwal said.

He said people of Punjab gave AAP a chance in last year's assembly polls and the party formed the government with overwhelming majority. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was also present.

"And the second thing, if you vote for the Congress, what benefit will you get? In Punjab, it is our government, we have to get the work done. If you vote for the Congress, they will fight and indulge in 'Tu Tu Mein Mein'. If you want fights, vote for them, but if you have to get all your work done, get roads built, landfills cleaned, then give one chance to AAP," Mr Kejriwal said.

The Jalandhar Lok Sabha bypoll was necessitated due to the death of Congress MP Santokh Singh Chaudhary in January. The Congress has fielded his wife Karamjit Kaur, while AAP has fielded Sushil Kumar Rinku, a former Congress leader who recently joined the ruling party in the state.

Arvind Kejriwal told the people of Jalandhar that he was giving them a guarantee that all their work would be completed by the AAP government.

After AAP came to power in Punjab, during past one year, "we have started to fulfil these promises, guarantees", he said.

"Some people come to us and say that we don't know how to do politics. They tell us that promises and guarantees are not fulfilled so fast but only in the last year of the term so that people won't forget. We tell them we have not come here to do politics, but to serve people," Arvind Kejriwal said.

The AAP leader touched upon his party's poll promise of giving 300 units of free power every month to residents of Punjab, saying parties like the BJP, Congress and the SAD used to mock it for this.

Arvind Kejriwal said just within three months of coming to power, "we have showed them how this was done".

"I was told by Punjab Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema that under every head money is coming now. Money used to come earlier too, but all this used to go into their pockets, into the Swiss bank accounts of leaders of these parties. Now, all this money is going into the government treasury. And with this money, your electricity bills are becoming zero," he said.

He said 28,000 youths have been given government jobs during past one year and in the coming years, several thousand more jobs will be given, he said.

Mr Kejriwal further said there is no big government hospital in Jalandhar. "We will set up a big hospital like PGIMER," he said, adding landfill sites will be cleaned and roads built.

He said blue (ration) card holders were facing some problems, as cards of some beneficiaries have got deleted by mistake, but he assured that everyone will get ration.

Hitting out at the previous regimes, Arvind Kejriwal said for 75 years, they have destroyed Punjab, "but we will set things right and all problems will be solved though it may take time".

"We eliminated mafia raj including sand mafia. Now, people are getting sand at affordable rates," he said.

He alleged that scholarships for Scheduled Caste students were usurped during the previous regime. "The minister in the previous government responsible has been sent to jail by our government in Punjab. Now, children are getting scholarship. I am told scholarship of some students is pending, but they too will be get it in next few days," the AAP leader added.

Eid-ul-Fitr 2023 Date in India: दुनियाभर में ईद का जश्म धूमधाम से मनाया जाता है. 1 महीने तक रोजा रखने के बाद ईद मनाई जाती है. जिसकी रौनक बाजारों में भी देखने को मिलती है. बाजार सजे रहते हैं और कई जगह तो ईद के 1 या 2 दिन पहले पूरी रात बाजारें लगती हैं. हालांकि इस साल ईद (ईद-उल-फितर या ईद अल-अधा ) (Eid-Ul-Fitr 2023 Date) की अभी कोई तारीख निश्चित नही है. 20 अप्रैल की शाम को चांद देखने के बाद ही निश्चित होगा कि भारत में ईद किस दिन होगी. 20 तारीख को अगर सऊदी अरब और खाड़ी देशों में चांद दिखाई देता है तो इसका मतलब है कि वहां पर 21 अप्रैल को ईद मनाई जाएगी. 

अगर अरब देशों में ईद 21 को मनाई गई तो भारत में यह 22 अप्रैल यानि शनिवार या फिर 23 अप्रैल रविवार के दिन मनाई जाएगी. दरअसल भारत में ईद ( Eid 2023 Date) अरब देशों में जिस दिन ईद होती है उसके दूसरे दिन मनाई जाती है, लेकिन हमेशा ऐसा ही हो जरूरी नही. सब कुछ चांद दिखने के बाद ही तय होता है. 

रमजान की शुरूआत

इस साल रमजान के पाक महीने की शुरूआत 24 मार्च से हुई थी. इस बार रोजा 29 या फिर 30 दिन का हो सकता है. रमजान के पाक महीने की शुरूआत चांद देखकर ही होती है और इस महीने की समाप्ति होने पर ईद का जश्न भी चांद देखकर ही मनाया जाता है. यही वजह है कि ईद की एक निश्चित तारीख तय नहीं होती है. यह हर साल चांद के निकलने पर ही ईद मनाई जाती है.

चांद रात क्या है

चांद रात के बाद सुबह ईद-उल-फितर मनाया जाता है, यह दुनिया भर के मुसलमानों द्वारा मनाया जाने वाला एक प्रमुख धार्मिक त्योहार है. रमजान के महीने भर के रोजे इस दिन समाप्त होते हैं. इस पाक महीने में मुस्लिम समुदाय के लोग रोजा रखते हैं जिसमें सूरज निकलने के बाद से सूरज के डूबने तक खाने-पीने से दूर रहते हैं. इसलिए ईद-उल-फितर को "रोजे खत्म करने का त्योहार" भी कहा जाता है. इस्लामिक चंद्र कैलेंडर में दसवां महीना शव्वाल है और इस महीने का पहला दिन दुनिया भर में ईद-उल-फितर के रूप में मनाया जाता है.

Rahul Gandhi's meeting with the students came on a day a court in Gujarat's Surat rejected his application for a stay on his conviction in a criminal defamation case over his "Modi surname" remark.

Mr Gandhi asked the students about their expectations and experiences.

In Mukherjee Nagar, Mr Gandhi was seen seated on a chair on the roadside with the students as he asked them about their expectations and experiences.

Earlier this week, Mr Gandhi visited the Jama Masjid area in old Delhi and the Bengali Market and treated himself to the popular dishes of these areas.

Rahul Gandhi visited a famous 'sharbat' vendor in the Jama Masjid area and other eateries. He also treated himself to fruits and had a taste of 'golgappas' at Nathu Sweets at the Bengali Market.

ड्रग्स लेने वालों पर नहीं, तस्करों पर करें फोकस: NCB से बोले गृहमंत्री अमित शाह

केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह ने बुधवार को कहा कि नारकोटिक्स कंट्रोल ब्यूरो (एनसीबी) को उपभोक्ताओं को टार्गेट करने के बजाय मादक पदार्थों के तस्करों और कार्टेल पर नकेल कसने पर ध्यान देना चाहिए. राज्यों और केंद्र शासित प्रदेशों के एंटी नार्कोटिक्स टास्क फोर्स के एक सम्मेलन को संबोधित करते हुए शाह ने कहा कि  नशा करने वाले पीड़ित होते हैं जिन्हें पुनर्वास की आवश्यकता होती है. अपराधीकरण की आवश्यकता नहीं होती है. 

शाह ने कहा कि हमारा दृष्टिकोण साफ होना चाहिए कि जो ड्रग्स का सेवन करता है वह पीड़ित है और जो ड्रग्स का कारोबार करता है वह अपराधी है, और उनसे दृढ़ता से निपटने की आवश्यकता है. हमें पुनर्वास में उनकी मदद करनी चाहिए. जांच का फोकस ड्रग व्यापार के पीछे तस्करों और कार्टेलों पर होना चाहिए.

गृह मंत्री की टिप्पणी एनसीबी द्वारा आर्यन खान से जुड़े एक हाई-प्रोफाइल मामले को संभालने के विवाद के बाद आई है. आर्यन खान को अक्टूबर 2021 में एक क्रूज पार्टी पर छापे के दौरान गिरफ्तार किया गया था. इस मामले ने NCB के भीतर भ्रष्टाचार, जबरन वसूली और राजनीतिक हस्तक्षेप के आरोप सामने आए थे. इस केस के बाद एनसीबी की तरफ से आंतरिक जांच के लिए एक विशेष जांच दल का भी गठन किया गया था.  जिसने मामले की जांच कर रही टीम द्वारा कई खामियां और "संदिग्ध व्यवहार" रेखांकित किया था.  और उनके खिलाफ कार्रवाई की सिफारिश की थी. एजेंसी के लिए एक बड़ी शर्मिंदगी भरे फैसले में आर्यन खान को सभी आरोपों से मुक्त कर दिया गया था. 

शाह ने कहा कि नशे ने न केवल युवा पीढ़ी को खोखला बनाया है बल्कि देश की अर्थव्यवस्था पर भी इसके कई प्रतिकूल प्रभाव पड़े हैं. उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि नार्को-टेररिज्म के जरिए ड्रग तस्कर देश की सीमा की सुरक्षा में सेंध लगा सकते हैं.उन्होंने कहा कि अगर 130 करोड़ भारतीय इसे एक साथ लड़ते हैं, तो हम इस लड़ाई को जीत लेंगे. उन्होंने कहा कि नरेंद्र मोदी सरकार ने आजादी के 100वें वर्ष 2047 तक देश को नशा मुक्त बनाने का लक्ष्य रखा है.

Sanitation Workers In Supreme Court To Be Called Supervisor: Chief Justice

The humble sanitation worker called 'Jamadar' in the Supreme Court will now be addressed as 'Supervisor', with Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud deciding to change the nomenclature of certain posts, saying they reflected a “colonial mindset” having no place in a modern society.

While inaugurating the ‘Supreme Court Sports, Cultural & Other Events- 2023' in which 970 court employees will participate, the CJI said the purpose behind organising the events was to encourage a holistic pattern of living for the staff and to promote their physical and mental well-being.

The top court, in a statement, said 12 sports and 9 cultural events will be organised.

Justice Chandrachud also mentioned some of the welfare measures being planned for the staff, including a bigger and better equipped creche, a training centre, and a staff library among others.

He also referred to his recent administrative decisions to change the nomenclature of certain designated posts.

The CJI greatly encouraged the women staff members to participate in the upcoming sports events, emphasising that they are no less than their men counterparts.

He also distributed track suits for the events to select staff members, including persons with disabilities.

The CJI inaugurated the event by taking the first shot with the striker in a game of carrom.

Secretary General of the top court Sanjeev Kalgaonkar also spoke at the inauguration function.

Sexual Offence Victim Has Right To Participate In Proceedings: High Court

The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ruled the victim of a sexual offence has "unbridled participatory rights" in all criminal proceedings in the matter but there is no legal requirement to make her a party to the proceedings.

Justice Anup Jairam Bhamabhani stressed on the need of maintaining confidentiality in respect of the identity of the victim and directed the high court registry to "carefully scrutinise" all filings in order to ensure the anonymity of the victim is strictly maintained.

The court also said in light of a Supreme Court decision granting participatory rights to such victims in criminal proceedings, section 439(1A) (right of victim to be heard) of Code of Criminal Procedure must be expanded to include her right to be heard even in petitions where an accused seeks anticipatory bail, a convict seeks suspension of sentence, parole, furlough, or other such interim relief.

The court's order came while dealing with bail plea by a person accused of rape and aggravated sexual assault on a minor.

The victim had been made a "party-respondent" in the matter while redacting her details.

The court observed that it is the State which is in-charge of prosecuting criminal offences and the "right to be represented and be heard" is different from the "right or the obligation to be a party" to the proceedings.

The court noted there may be times where a victim may not seek a hearing, and making her a party to the proceedings and mandating her to appear and defend may cause her additional hardship and agony.

"There is no requirement in law to implead the victim, that is to say, to make the victim a party, to any criminal proceedings, whether instituted by the State or by the accused," said the court in its 20-page order.

"In accordance with the mandate of the Supreme Court.., a victim now has unbridled participatory rights in all criminal proceedings in relation to which the person is a victim, but that in itself is no reason to implead a victim as a party to any such proceedings, unless otherwise specifically so provided in the statute," it stated.

Making the presence of the informant obligatory at the time of hearing in terms of section 439(1A) CrPC gives the victim the right to be "effectively heard", whether through the informant or other authorised representative, and her "mere ornamental presence" is not enough, it said.

The court said it was clear that victims of crime can no longer be asked to remain mere spectators and must be accorded unbridled participatory rights in the legal proceedings initiated in relation to the crime alleged to have been committed against them.

Amicus curiae, senior advocate Rebecca John who assisted the court in the matter, argued there was no requirement, statutory or otherwise, that a victim must be made party to criminal proceedings and her right to be heard is already recognised.

The counsel for the complainant, however, argued the victims must be impleaded.

John said, in certain cases, there is no anonymousness in relation to a victim at all, and once a victim has been impleaded as a party respondent, there are high chances of third persons being able to put-together her identity even if anonymity is maintained.

To protect the identity of victims, the court passed a slew of directions and asked that the same may be shared with trial courts and police by the high court Registrar General and be brought to the notice of the high court chief justice for framing appropriate practice directions.

The court said the name, parentage, address, social media credentials and photographs of the prosecutrix/victim/survivor must not be disclosed in the filings made in court and any identifying particulars may be brought to court or filed in a sealed cover or a pass-code locked electronic folder.

The registry must ensure that particulars do not get reflected in the cause-list and the details of the victim's family members are not disclosed in any manner, the court stated.

"At the stage of scrutiny of the filings, in the event the Registry finds that the identity credentials of a prosecutrix/victim/ survivor are disclosed in the memo of parties or anywhere else in the filings, such filings must be returned to counsel who have filed the same, to undertake requisite redactions, before the filings are accepted," stated the court.

It since complete redaction from all documents may not be possible, files/paper-books etc relating to sexual offences must not be provided to any person other than the parties to the litigation and all service shall only be effected by the investigating officer who must remain in plain clothes to avoid any unwarranted attention and inform the victim of her right to free legal aid.

The court perused the legal framework under the Indian Penal Code, POCSO and CrPC and said it was a statutory mandate that the identity of a victim must be kept confidential.

नोएडा प्रशासन ने रियल एस्टेट कंपनी सुपरटेक का कार्यालय किया सील

दिल्ली से सटे नोएडा में जिला प्रशासन ने जमीन, जायदाद के विकास से जुड़ी प्रमुख कंपनी सुपरटेक समूह के कार्यालय को सील कर दिया है. अधिकारियों ने बुधवार को यह जानकारी दी. कंपनी ने प्रशासन की इस कार्रवाई को अवैध बताते हुए कहा कि जो कार्यालय सील किया गया है, वह सुपरटेक लिमिटेड का है जबकि बकाया वसूली का मामला सुपरटेक टाउनशिप से जुड़ा है. जिला प्रशासन ने समूह के सुपरटेक टाउनशिप से बकाया वसूलने के लिए हाल ही में कार्रवाई शुरू की थी.

अतिरिक्त जिला अधिकारी (वित्त/राजस्व) वंदिता श्रीवास्तव ने पीटीआई-भाषा से कहा, “सुपरटेक का कार्यालय सील कर दिया गया है.” अधिकारियों के अनुसार, कार्यालय को सील करने की प्रक्रिया मंगलवार दोपहर दादरी के तहसीलदार की निगरानी में शुरू की गई थी. इस बीच, सुपरटेक समूह ने जिला प्रशासन की कार्रवाई की निंदा की है.कंपनी के एक अधिकारी ने कहा, ‘‘अवैध कार्रवाई से उन घर खरीदारों को भारी परेशानी हुई है, जिन्हें अपनी विभिन्न जरूरतों के लिए इस कार्यालय में आने की जरूरत है.''

Maharashtra Records 1,100 New Covid Cases, 4 Deaths In 24 Hours

Maharashtra on Wednesday recorded 1,100 new coronavirus infections and four fatalities, the health department said in a bulletin.

The state has 6,102 active cases now.

The state's COVID-19 case tally rose to 81,58,393, and death count to 1,48,489.

The state had recorded 949 cases and six deaths on Tuesday.

Mumbai recorded 234 cases and one fatality on Wednesday.

Thane city, Pune city and Satara district recorded one fatality each.

The case fatality rate of Maharashtra is 1.82 per cent.

As per the health department, XBB.1.16 is the dominant variant of coronavirus in the state with a total of 681 cases of its infection found. There were five deaths among the cases of this variant, the bulletin said.

Since January 1, Maharashtra has recorded 72 COVID-19 deaths. Of these, 74 per cent of fatalities were individuals above 60 while 69 per cent of the deceased had comorbidities.

As of April 18, the state had 6,118 active cases, of which 5,830 (95.3 per cent) were in home isolation while 288 were hospitalised.

Of 288 hospitalised patients, 48 per cent were in Intensive Care Units.

With 1,112 patients recovering from coronavirus infection since previous evening, the total of recoveries rose to 80,03,802.

The recovery rate in the state is 98.11 per cent.

Earlier in the day, Medical Education Minister Girish Mahajan said that 25 dedicated COVID-19 hospitals under his department have been activated looking at the rise in the cases.

'Make In India' Should Embrace Chinese Market, Says China Envoy

China's Consul General in the financial capital, Kong Xianhua, on Tuesday stressed that there is a need for increasing Indian exports into the northern country, emphasising that a big opportunity exists.

Addressing representatives of trade at a promotion event for the China International Import Expo, Mr Xianhua acknowledged the high imbalance in trade in favour of his country.

"...give more emphasis to China, 'Make in India' should embrace Chinese market," Mr Xianhua urged the industry.

Last year, the Indo-China bilateral trade reached a new record of USD 136 billion, which included USD 118 billion of China's exports into India and USD 18 billion of India's exports into China, he said.

The data, however, does not tell the "full story", he said, pointing out that a lot of China's exports are intermediate products which finally become Indian exports to other countries.

Mr Xianhua also asked the members of trade to make friends with Chinese merchants and customers, and "win their heart" with the products and charisma.

Stating that India possesses a strength in information technology and movie production, Mr Xianhua asked those present at the conference to "take advantage" of their specialties.

Pointing to Beijing's 'Digital China Construction' plan focused on digital transformation of the whole economy and society, Mr Xianhua said it will generate real and huge demand for IT services.

"I do hope my Indian friends will not miss this digital feast," he added.

Lasting business partnership can only be built upon mutual trust, he said, adding that the same can be established only by understanding the partner's "mindset and morality". There are over 2 lakh Indians happily staying in Shanghai, he added.

The China International Import Expo scheduled to be held in November this year is the best entrance for newcomers into China, the diplomat said, adding that in its last edition in 2019, over 5 lakh Chinese visited the expo which had stalls by 3,800 vendors.

दिल्‍ली : बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को मिलने वाली सब्सिडी का पहली बार होगा ऑडिट

दिल्‍ली की बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को मिलने वाली सब्सिडी का पहली बार ऑडिट होगा. इसके लिए दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल ने आदेश जारी कर दिए हैं. इसके तहत दिल्ली बिजली नियामक आयोग (DERC) को निर्देश दिए गए हैं कि साल 2016-17 से लेकर 2021-22 तक दिल्ली सरकार ने जो पैसा सब्सिडी के तौर पर दिल्ली की तीन बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को जारी किया गया है, उसका ऑडिट नियंत्रक एवं महालेखापरीक्षक (सीएजी) के पैनल में शामिल लेखा-परीक्षकों के माध्यम से करवाया जाए. ऑडिट में यह सुनिश्चित किया जाएगा कि सब्सिडी का पैसा सही लाभार्थी तक पारदर्शी और बेहतर तरीके से पहुंचे. 

दिल्ली सरकार के विशेष सचिव (बिजली) रवि धवन की तरफ से जारी आदेश में कहा गया कि विद्युत अधिनियम, 2003 की धारा 108 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए उपराज्यपाल ने दिल्ली विद्युत नियामक आयोग को सीएजी पैनल में शामिल लेखा-परीक्षकों के माध्यम से विशेष 'ऑडिट' करने का निर्देश दिया है. 

कुल 13,549 करोड़ रुपये इन 6 सालों के दौरान दिल्ली सरकार ने बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को सब्सिडी के तौर पर जारी किए थे. दिल्ली में घरेलू उपभोक्ताओं को 200 यूनिट तक बिजली मुफ्त मिलती है, जबकि 400 यूनिट बिजली आधे दाम पर मिलती है, जिसके लिए दिल्ली सरकार तीन बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को सब्सिडी जारी करती है. 

पिछले कुछ समय से दिल्‍ली के उपराज्यपाल और आम आदमी पार्टी सरकार के बीच बिजली कंपनियों और बिजली सब्सिडी को लेकर आरोप-प्रत्यारोप चल रहे हैं. 

उपराज्यपाल ने दिल्ली की तीन बिजली वितरण कंपनियों में दिल्ली सरकार के प्रतिनिधि के तौर पर नियुक्त आम आदमी पार्टी से जुड़े लोगों को हटा दिया था और कहा था कि पहले इस पद पर अधिकारी नियुक्त हुआ करते थे, लेकिन आम आदमी पार्टी की सरकार ने अपने लोगों को इसलिए नियुक्त किया क्योंकि उनकी बिजली वितरण कंपनियों के साथ सांठगांठ है. 

इसके जवाब में आम आदमी पार्टी सरकार ने आरोप लगाया कि सरकार द्वारा नियुक्त एक्सपर्ट लोगों को उपराज्‍यपाल ने कहीं इसलिए तो नहीं हटाया कि उनकी बिजली वितरण कंपनियों के साथ सांठगांठ है और इसलिए वहां पर सरकार द्वारा नियुक्त लोगों को हटाकर उनके अपने अफसर नियुक्त किए गए हैं. 

इसके साथ ही पिछले महीने दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल ने दिल्ली की तीन बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को सरकार की तरफ से जारी सब्सिडी के पैसे का ऑडिट कराने के आदेश दिए थे. 

उपराज्यपाल ने दिल्ली सरकार के इसी प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दी है. उपराज्यपाल का कहना है कि दिल्ली इलेक्ट्रिसिटी एक्ट 2003 के सेक्शन 108 के मुताबिक दिल्ली इलेक्ट्रिसिटी रेगुलेटरी कमीशन का बिजली वितरण कंपनियों का ऑडिट करना अनिवार्य है. 

इससे पहले, साल 2015 में केजरीवाल सरकार ने दिल्ली की बिजली वितरण कंपनियों के सीएजी ऑडिट के आदेश दिए थे. 

इस आदेश के खिलाफ बिजली वितरण कंपनियां दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट चली गई थीं और दिल्ली हाईकोर्ट ने दिल्ली सरकार के आदेश को रद्द कर दिया था. इसके जवाब में दिल्ली सरकार 2016 में सुप्रीम कोर्ट चली गई थी. यह मामला तब से सुप्रीम कोर्ट में लंबित है. 

दिल्ली में बिजली वितरण 2002 में ही निजी हाथों में चला गया था, तब से लेकर आज तक बिजली कंपनियों का ऑडिट नहीं हुआ है.

UK Takes Indian Mission's Security "Extremely Seriously": British Minister

The British government takes the security of the Indian High Commission in London "extremely seriously" and robustly responds to criminal incidents at diplomatic missions, the House of Commons has been informed.

In response to a written parliamentary question by Indian-origin Labour MP Navendu Mishra, UK Security Minister Tom Tugendhat said on Monday that the government finds the criminal damage and assaults on staff at the Indian High Commission in London last month “unacceptable”.

"The government takes the protective security of the Indian High Commission extremely seriously,” said Mr Tugendhat.

"The government remains committed to protecting the security of missions throughout the UK, including preventing and rapidly and robustly responding to incidents such as this. The criminal damage and assaults on staff from the India High Commission at the incident on the weekend of the 18th March were unacceptable. The police have powers to deal with such acts,” he said.

The Home Office minister said the follow ups in the case were an operational matter for the police, with decisions on possible criminal proceedings to be made in conjunction with the UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS).

"As stated in our previous response, it is our long-standing policy not to provide detailed information on diplomatic security arrangements. To do so could compromise the integrity of those arrangements and affect the security of the individuals and locations concerned,” he added.

Mr Mishra had tabled his question at the end of last month to seek further information about the security assessments assured by the British government in the immediate aftermath of the attack on the High Commission premises and what steps were being taken “to ensure the safety and security of diplomatic missions”.

It comes as it emerged that India's National Investigation Agency (NIA) will take over the case of the attempted vandalisation of India House in London during last month's protest, as it involves unlawful activities carried out by certain people holding Indian nationality abroad.

Indian officials have said that the NIA will take over the investigation from the special cell of the Delhi Police, which had registered a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act.

नियमित सेना में अर्धसैनिक रैपिड सपोर्ट फोर्स (RSF) के नियोजित एकीकरण को लेकर सैन्य नेता अब्देल फतह अल-बुरहान और उनके नंबर दो अर्धसैनिक कमांडर मोहम्मद हमदान डागलो के बीच हफ्तों तक गहराते तनाव के बाद बीते शनिवार को सूडान में हिंसा भड़क गई थी. प्रत्यक्षदर्शियों ने दक्षिण खार्तूम में आरएसएफ बेस के पास "टकराव" और जोरदार विस्फोट और गोलियों की सूचना दी थी.

Amid Heatwave Warnings, Cities Across India Record Very High Temperatures

Heatwave conditions continued unabated as temperature hovered in the range of 40 to 44 degrees Celsius over most parts of the country on Tuesday, with Hamirpur and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh sizzling at 44.2 degrees Celsius.

Delhi's primary weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, registered a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius, four notches higher than normal. This is the fourth consecutive day that the maximum temperature settled above 40 degrees Celsius here.

The Pusa and Pitampura areas experienced heat wave conditions with maximum temperatures settling at 41.6 degrees to 41.9 degrees Celsius, respectively.

Cloudy weather and light rain may provide some relief from the heat in the city on Wednesday, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.

The IMD said a western disturbance active over the western Himalayan region is predicted to bring light rain in the northwestern plains starting Tuesday.

Earlier this month, the MeT office predicted above-normal maximum temperatures for most parts of the country from April to June, except parts of the northwest and the peninsular regions.

Above-normal heatwave days are expected in most parts of central, east, and northwest India during this period.

The meteorological department has issued an 'orange' alert with a warning of severe heatwave conditions for two days from Tuesday in Patna, Banka, Jamui, Nawada, Aurangabad, Supaul and several other districts of Bihar.

Besides, a 'yellow' warning has also been sounded in Begusarai, Nalanda, Gaya, Arwal, Bhojpur, Rohtas, Buxar, Khagaria and Munger regions of the state.

The meteorological department uses four colour codes - green (no action needed), yellow (watch and stay updated), orange (be prepared) and red (take action) - for weather warning. "People are advised to avoid heat exposure and dehydration," a senior official of the Bihar Disaster Management Department said.

In West Bengal, Bankura recorded the highest temperature at 43.7 degrees Celsius, while capital city Kolkata's maximum was 40 degrees Celsius.

Hot weather conditions continued to prevail in Haryana and Punjab with the maximum temperature settling above the 40 degree-mark in most parts of the two states. In Haryana, sizzling heat swept across Hisar as the mercury settled at 41.4 degrees Celsius, according to a report of the meteorological department here.

Karnal also experienced a hot day recording a high of 40.7 degrees Celsius.

Ambala recorded a high of 39.7 degrees Celsius, Narnaul recorded a high of 40.2 deg C while Bhiwani registered a high of 39.6 degrees Celsius.

Bathinda in Punjab recorded a maximum temperature of 41 degrees Celsius. The mercury settled at 36.6 degrees Celsius in Amritsar and at 41.2 degrees Celsius in Patiala. Chandigarh, the common capital of the two states, recorded a high of 39.4 degrees Celsius.

Prayagraj and Hamirpur in Uttar Pradesh were the hottest at 44.2 degrees Celsius, with the weather department predicting rain/thundershower at isolated places over western parts of the state. Lucknow recorded the maximum temperature of 41.3 degrees Celsius and a minimum of 24.5 degree Celsius.

The desert state of Rajasthan also saw the temperature rising with Chittorgarh recording 43.2 degrees Celsius followed by Kota (42.8 degrees), Banswara (42.7 degrees), Phalodi (42.2 degrees), Dholpur (42 degrees), Alwar and Sawai Madhopur (41.7 degrees each), Tonk (41.6 degrees), Churu and Pilani (41.4 degrees each), Barmer (41.2 degrees) and Jaipur (40 degrees Celsius).

However, the MeT has predicted light rain and thunderstorm in Jodhpur and Bikaner divisions and in Jaipur, Ajmer and Bharatpur divisions on April 19 and 20.

It has also predicted a fall in temperatures by 2-3 degrees in the next two days.

Reeling under the scorching sun, people in lower hills of Himachal had some relief as maximum temperatures dropped by few notches following light rains at several places.

Una recorded a high of 37.4 degrees, while Dhaulakuan was hottest in the region with a maximum temperature of 38.7 degrees.

The popular tourist destinations of Shimla, Manali, Dharamsala and Narkanda posted a high of 25.4 degrees, 21 degrees, 28.2 degrees and 19.2 degrees Celsius, respectively.

The Andhra Pradesh State Disaster Management Authority (APSDMA) forecast severe heat wave conditions in one mandal and heat wave conditions in 117 more across the state on Tuesday.

"While the heat wave is expected to hit seven mandals in Alluri Sitarama Raju district, 16 in Anakapalli, four in East Godavari, two each in Eluru, Palnadu, Visakhapatnam and Nandyala, six in Gunturu and 10 in Krishna," the disaster management department said in a statement.

Out of the 117 mandals, Chintur and Nellipaka in Alluri Sitarama Raju district are likely to record 44.7 degrees and 44 degrees Celsius, respectively on Tuesday, it said earlier in the day.

Some areas in the higher reaches of Kashmir received fresh snowfall, while the plains were lashed by rains, officials said on Tuesday.

Around three inches of snowfall was recorded in Machil near the Line of Control (LoC).

The plain areas, including Srinagar city, were lashed by overnight rains, bringing down the temperature, they said.

The weather office said intermittent rain is likely to continue till Tuesday evening.

Intermittent light to moderate rain or snowfall over higher reaches is very likely at many places on Wednesday.

During this wet spell, thunderstorm with strong gusty wind reaching 20-30 kmph and hailstorm is also possible at some places in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, the death toll due to sunstroke at the 'Maharashtra Bhushan' award event in Navi Mumbai rose to 14 after the death of a 34-year-old woman while seven patients are undergoing treatment, a civic official said on Tuesday.

India Hosts 100th Meeting Of G20 Under Its Presidency

India celebrated a key milestone in its G20 presidency on Monday with the hosting of the 100th meeting of the grouping, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said.

It said the 100 G-20 meetings have been held in 41 cities, covering 28 states and union territories of India.

"India's G20 presidency, in the build-up to the New Delhi leaders' summit on September 9 and 10, has received immense support from G20 members and guest countries for its inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented and decisive agenda," the MEA said.

"The wide-ranging, large-scale and enthusiastic participation in India's G20 meetings is a testimony to the G20 members and invitees coming together under India's presidency to collectively address contemporary global challenges," it said in a statement.

The MEA said more than 12,300 delegates from over 110 nationalities have attended G20-related meetings in India so far.

People familiar with the matter said the nationalities included Ukrainians as well. The G20 members represent around 85 per cent of the global GDP, over 75 per cent of the global trade, and about two-thirds of the world's population.

In a tweet, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "100 meetings in 41 cities; 12000 delegates from across 111 nationalities. As the world becomes 'India ready' the New India is also 'world ready.'" The Meeting of Agricultural Chief Scientists (MACS) in Varanasi is the 100th meeting of the grouping under India's presidency that began on December 1 last year. The second Health Working Group in Goa, the 2nd Digital Economy Working Group in Hyderabad and the Space Economy Leaders' Precursor Meeting in Shillong are also being held on Monday, according to the MEA.

It said the "in-person" participation during India's G20 presidency is among the largest ever.

"Over 12,300 delegates, from over 110 nationalities have attended G20-related meetings so far. This includes participation from G20 members, nine invitee countries and 14 international organizations.

"As on date, the 100 G20 meetings have been held in 41 cities, covering 28 states and union territories. Meetings are being organised across the length and breadth of India with the full support and participation of state governments and union territories," the MEA said.

It said India will be hosting foreign delegates for over 200 G20-related meetings in around 60 cities across India, the widest geographical spread in any presidency of the grouping.

"All 13 sherpa track working groups, eight finance track workstreams, 11 engagement groups and four initiatives have embarked on substantive interactions," the MEA said.

A new working group on disaster risk reduction (DRR), a new engagement group "Startup 20" and a new initiative chief science advisers' roundtable (CSAR) have been operationalised under India's G20 presidency.

The 11 engagement groups provide a platform for dialogue among the private sector, academia, civil society, youth and women, as well as institutions including the Parliaments, audit authorities and urban administrations.

India's G20 presidency will continue till November 30.

The Group of Twenty (G20) comprises 19 countries (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom, and United States) and the European Union.

Under India's G20 presidency, three ministerial meetings have been held till date.

The first finance ministers and central bank governors meeting (FMCBG) was held in Bengaluru on February 24-25, the G20 foreign ministers meeting (FMM) was held in New Delhi on March 1 and 2 and the second FMCBG meeting was held in Washington DC on April 12 and 13. Two sherpa meetings have been held in Udaipur (December 4 to 7 2022) and Kumarakom (March 30 to April 2).

The MEA said the FMCBG, FMM and sherpa meetings saw record, high-level in-person participation from all delegations with ministerial-level dignitaries.

"During its presidency, India is also amplifying the voice and concerns of the Global South and developing countries," the MEA said.

The Voice of Global South Summit held in January was attended by 125 countries, including 18 at heads of state/government level and others at ministerial level.

भारतीय सेना ने पहले चरण में कंप्यूटर आधारित ऑनलाइन सामान्य प्रवेश परीक्षा (सीईई)की शुरुआत के साथ अग्निवीरों, जूनियर कमीशन अधिकारियों और अन्य श्रेणियों की भर्ती के लिए प्रक्रिया को बदल दिया है. पंजीकृत उम्मीदवारों के लिए आज से ऑनलाइन सीईई परीक्षा 176 स्थानों पर 375 केंद्रों पर शुरू हुई. परीक्षा का आयोजन 26 अप्रैल 2023 तक किया जाएगा. शिक्षा मंत्रालय के अधीन मिनी रत्न कंपनी एजुकेशन कंसल्टेंसी सर्विसेज इंडिया लिमिटेड की सहायता से ऑनलाइन परीक्षा आयोजित की जा रही है. 

देश में युवाओं की तकनीकी योग्यता में काफी सुधार हुआ है और बढ़ी हुई नेटवर्क कनेक्टिविटी और स्मार्टफोन के प्रसार के कारण युवाओं को अब शारीरिक परीक्षा देने के लिए लंबी दूरी तय करने के बजाय ऑनलाइन परीक्षा देने का अधिकार मिला है.

सेना ने कहा है कि वह बदली हुई कार्यप्रणाली चयन के दौरान संज्ञानात्मक पहलू पर अधिक ध्यान सुनिश्चित करेगी और कदाचार की संभावना को रोकेगी.  इसकी देश भर में व्यापक पहुंच होगी और भर्ती रैलियों के दौरान देखी जाने वाली बड़ी भीड़ को कम करने के लिए उन्हें अधिक प्रबंधनीय और संचालन करने में आसान बनाया जाएगा. 

तीन चरणों में पूरी होगी प्रकिया 

नई भर्ती प्रक्रिया तीन चरणों में पूरी की जाएगी. पहले चरण में सभी उम्मीदवार जिन्होंने https://ift.tt/7mgbzia पर ऑनलाइन पंजीकरण और आवेदन किया है, वे ऑनलाइन सामान्य प्रवेश परीक्षा से गुजरेंगे. दूसरे चरण के लिए शॉर्टलिस्ट उम्मीदवारों को जून 2023 से भर्ती रैलियों के लिए संबंधित सेना भर्ती कार्यालय द्वारा तय स्थानों पर विभिन्‍न चरणों में बुलाया जाएगा, जहां वे शारीरिक स्वास्थ्य परीक्षण और शारीरिक माप परीक्षण से गुजरेंगे. आखिर में तीसरे चरण में चयनित उम्मीदवारों का चिकित्सा जांच होगी. इसके बाद सफल उम्मीदवारों की अंतिम योग्यता सूची घोषित की जाएगी.

Gujarat Opposes Godhra Train Coach-Burning Convicts' Bail Request

Gujarat government on Monday opposed the bail pleas of some convicts, who are sentenced to life imprisonment, and reiterated that the 2002 Godhra train coach-burning case was involved in serious offences as the convicts pelted stones and bolted the door of the train leading to the death of around 58 people.

The court was hearing bail pleas of some convicts sentenced to life imprisonment in the 2002 Godhra train coach-burning case.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted before the top court that it is just not a case of stone pelting but the accused had bolted the door of the train from outside and then pelted stones.

However, the convicts' lawyers submitted that they have served 17 years in prison.

A bench headed by Chief Justice of DY Chandrachud listed the matter for further hearing on Friday. The court also remarked that it is thinking of not granting bail to the ones who were given death sentences.

In the last hearing, the SC sought a chart mentioning the specific role of convicts, their age and the period undergone by them in matters pertaining to the 2002 Godhra train coach-burning case.

The court asked the advocates on record appearing on behalf of the petitioner and state counsel to sit together and prepare one consolidated chart for the convenience of the bench.

Appearing for the State of Gujarat, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta has strongly opposed the bail pleas of the convicts saying that it was a very serious crime. He has submitted that it was the rarest of rare offences.

He has also submitted that the cases of convicts could not be considered for premature release under the Gujarat state's policy as provisions of the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) had been invoked against them

The court was hearing the bail pleas of some convicts in the matter. The state government has also filed appeals against the Gujarat High Court order which has commuted the sentence of some convicts from the death penalty to life imprisonment.

Around 58 people lost their lives when some coaches of Sabarmati Express were torched at the Godhra Railway Station in Gujarat on February 27, 2002. The incident triggered large-scale riots in Gujarat. A local court in 2011 convicted 31 accused and acquitted 63 people. Eleven accused were sentenced death penalty while the rest were awarded life imprisonment.

Later Gujarat High Court upheld the trial court decision to convict the 31 accused but commuted the death sentence of the 11 to life imprisonment. Convicts moved the Supreme Court challenging the Gujarat High Court order.

दिल्ली में कोरोना के नए मामलों में आई गिरावट, संक्रमण दर ने बढ़ाई चिंता

दिल्ली में कोरोना एक बार फिर चिंता बढ़ा रहा है. बीते 24 घंटे में 1017 नए मामले दर्ज किए गए हैं. लेकिन रविवार की तुलना में नए मामलों में गिरावट जरूर आई है. रविवार को दिल्ली में कोरोना के 1634 नए मामले आए थे जबकि इस दौरान पॉजिटिविटी रेट 29.68 फीसदी दर्ज की गई थी. सोमवार को कोरोना के मामले जरूर कम हुए हैं लेकिन पॉजिटिविटी रेट 29.68 फीसदी से बढ़कर 32.25 फीसदी हो गई है. दिल्ली में पिछले साल 14 जनवरी को संक्रमण दर 30.6 प्रतिशत दर्ज की गई थी. उसके बाद सोमवार को ही यह 32 फीसदी के पार पहुंची है. दिल्ली में कोरोना से बीते 24 घंटे में 4 लोगों की मौत हुई है जबकि अलग-अलग अस्पतालों में कोरोना के 325 मरीज भर्ती हैं. 

दिल्ली में पॉजिटिविटी ने बढ़ाई टेंशन

स्वास्थ्य विभाग के बुलेटिन के अनुसार, दिल्ली में नये मामले सामने आने के बाद संक्रमण के कुल मामलों की संख्या बढ़कर 20,24,244 हो गई और चार मरीजों की मौत के बाद मृतक संख्या बढ़कर 26,567 हो गई है. दिल्‍ली में रविवार को बीते 24 घंटे में 1634 नए मामले सामने आए हैं, जबकि एक दिन पहले यहां पर 1396 नए मामले सामने आए थे. इसके साथ ही आज कोविड के कारण तीन मरीजों की मौत भी हो गई.  हालांकि इसमें से एक मरीज की मौत का प्राथमिक कारण कोरोना नहीं है, जबकि एक अन्‍य की रिपोर्ट अभी तक नहीं आई है. 

गौरतलब है कि बीते शनिवार को राजधानी में कोरोना के 1396 नए मामले सामने आए थी. वहीं पॉजिटिविटी रेट बढ़कर 31.9% तक पहुंच गया था. जानकारी के अनुसार पिछले 24 घंटे में 5 मरीजों की मौत हुई है.

एम्स ने जारी की एडवाइजरी

एम्स प्रबंधन ने एडवाइजरी में कर्मचारियों को कैंटीन में इकट्ठा होने से बचने के लिए कहा है. एडवाइजरी में कहा गया है कि कार्यालय में किसी भी स्थान पर पांच या उससे अधिक व्यक्ति जमा न हों. अगर कोई कर्मचारी अस्वस्थ महसूस कर रहा है तो अपने रिपोर्टिंग अधिकारियों को तुरंत सूचित करे और कार्यस्थल में न आए. ऐसे कर्मचारियों को होम क्वारंटाइन करने को कहा गया है.

Maharashtra Records 505 New Covid Cases In 24 Hours, No Deaths

Maharashtra on Monday reported 505 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 81,56,344, while the death count stood unchanged at 1,48,479, a health department official said.

On Sunday, Maharashtra had reported 650 COVID-19 cases and two fatalities, he pointed out.

Mumbai circle led with 262 cases, followed by 90 in Pune circle, 86 in Aurangabad circle, 39 in Akola circle, 12 in Nashik circle, seven in Kolhapur circle, six in Latur circle and three in Aurangabad circle, he said.

The addition to the state's tally included 131 cases in Mumbai, which took the infection count in the country's financial capital to 11,59,759, while the death count stood at 19,754.

The recovery count increased by 334 in the state to touch 80,01,778, leaving Maharashtra with an active caseload of 6,087, he said.

So far, 8,68,01,628 coronavirus tests have been conducted in the state, including 9,616 in the last 24 hours, comprising 7,276 at government labs, 2,185 at private labs and 155 by self-testing kits.

As per state health department data, the recovery rate is 98.10 percent and the fatality rate is 1.82 per cent.

Coronavirus figures of Maharashtra are as follows: Positive cases : 81,56,344; fresh cases: 505 ; death count 1,48,479; recoveries 80,01,778 ; active cases: 6087 total tests: 8,68,01,628.

लोकसभा चुनाव 2024 के पहले देश में फिर से जाति आधारित जनगणना पर राजनीति हो शुरु हो गई है. बिहार सरकार की ओर से पहले ही राज्य में  जाति आधारित सर्वे कराई जा रही है. अब कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने भी जाति आधारित जनगणना की वकालत की है. उन्होंने कर्नाटक विधानसभा चुनाव से पहले 'ओबीसी और दलित 'कार्ड' खेल दिया है.

कांग्रेस नेता राहुल गांधी ने PM मोदी को जाति आधारित जनगणना के आंकड़े सार्वजनिक करने की चुनौती दी. साथ ही राहुल गांधी ने पीएम मोदी से आरक्षण पर 50 % की सीमा को हटाने की मांग की है. राहुल ने यह दावा किया कि केंद्र सरकार में सचिव के रूप में केवल 7 प्रतिशत अन्य पिछड़ी जातियां, दलित और आदिवासी हैं. उन्होंने ट्वीटर पर एक वीडिया भी शेयर किया है.

जाति आधारित जनगणना पर बिहार के मुख्‍यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार का तर्क है कि "दुनियाभर के देश और सरकारें अपनी योजनाओं, बजट आवंटन, विभिन्न विभागों, उनकी कार्यप्रणाली, कार्य क्षमता, प्रशिक्षण इत्यादि को प्रभावी बनाने और व्यवस्थात्मक सुधार के लिए हर प्रकार के आंकड़े जुटाती है. फिर हम इस बात से भी इनकार नहीं कर सकते कि जाति व्‍यवस्‍था भारतीय समाज की कड़वी सच्चाई है. भारत में आज भी लोग जाति के आधार पर व्यवसाय/रोजगार करते हैं, विवाह करते हैं, ऊंच-नीच और अपने-पराए की भावना रखते हैं. अतः इसका लोगों की मानसिकता, शिक्षा, आय, सामाजिक अथवा आर्थिक स्थिति पर प्रभाव पड़ना स्वाभाविक है."
