राष्ट्रीय राजधानी में शनिवार को कोरोना वायरस संक्रमण के दैनिक मामले लगातार डेढ़ हजार के करीब बने हुए हैं. दिल्‍ली में बीते 24 घंटे के दौरान कोरोना के 1,515 नए मामले सामने आए है. हालांकि दिल्‍ली में आज कोरोना के चलते छह और मरीजों की मौत हो गई. स्वास्थ्य विभाग की ओर से जारी आंकड़ों से यह जानकारी मिली है. स्‍वास्‍थ्‍य विभाग के आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, दिल्ली में कोविड-19 से अब तक संक्रमित हुए लोगों की संख्या बढ़कर 20,32,424 हो गई है. वहीं, मृतकों की संख्‍या का कुल आंकड़ा बढ़कर 26,595 पर पहुंच गया है.  आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, दिल्ली में कोविड-19 संक्रमण दर 26.46 प्रतिशत दर्ज की गई है. वहीं, शहर में कोविड के मरीजों के लिए उपलब्ध अस्पताल के कुल 7,974 बिस्तरों में से फिलहाल 385 पर मरीज भर्ती हैं.  आंकड़ों के मुताबिक, दिल्ली में कोविड-19 के उपचाराधीन मरीजों की संख्या 6,271 पर पहुंच गई है. वहीं, 4,395 संक्रमित अपने घर में पृथकवास में रह रहे हैं.  बता दें कि हाल ही में केंद्र सरकार ने देश के 8 राज्‍यों को कोरोना के बढ़ते मामलों को लेकर विशेष निर्देश दिए हैं. केंद्र ने बढ़ते मामलों को लेक...

According to the press statement issued by Ernakulam Rural Police, an orthodox church priest Shemavoon Ramba, a native of Pathanamthitta and aged 77 years was arrested for allegedly molesting a 15-year-old girl in Muvattupuzha. The priest has been removed from official duties after the alleged incident, the police said. "The incident happened on April 3. A group of more than 1,800 scientists, science teachers and educators has written an open letter raising concerns about the chapter on "Theory of Biological Evolution" being dropped from the NCERT textbook for Class 10. The signatories to the letter include scientists from noted institutions such as the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (TIFR), Indian Institute of Science Education and Research (IISER) and IITs, among others. As part of its curriculum rationalisation exercise, the NCERT had last year announced that the chapter "Heredity and Evolution" will be replaced with "Heredity" in the Class 10 science textbook. All schools affiliated to the state board in Maharashtra will remain closed from Friday in view of the heat wave conditions, the government said. Schools of other boards can take decision about closure after considering their curriculum and activities, said the order issued by the School Education Department on Thursday. Except for Vidarbha, schools in the state will reopen on June 15. Those in Vidarbha will restart from June 30, the order said. At least 14 persons died due to heat stroke after attending the Maharashtra Bhushan award ceremony in Navi Mumbai on April 16. The Delhi High Court on Wednesday ruled the victim of a sexual offence has "unbridled participatory rights" in all criminal proceedings in the matter but there is no legal requirement to make her a party to the proceedings. Justice Anup Jairam Bhamabhani stressed on the need of maintaining confidentiality in respect of the identity of the victim and directed the high court registry to "carefully scrutinise" all filings in order to ensure the anonymity of the victim is strictly maintained. The court also said in light of a Supreme Court decision granting participatory rights to such victims in criminal proceedings, section 439(1A) (right of victim to be heard) of Code of Criminal Procedure must be expanded to include her right to be heard even in petitions where an accused seeks anticipatory bail, a convict seeks suspension of sentence, parole, furlough, or other such interim relief. The state's COVID-19 case tally rose to 81,58,393, and death count to 1,48,489. The state had recorded 949 cases and six deaths on Tuesday. Mumbai recorded 234 cases and one fatality on Wednesday. China's Consul General in the financial capital, Kong Xianhua, on Tuesday stressed that there is a need for increasing Indian exports into the northern country, emphasising that a big opportunity exists. Addressing representatives of trade at a promotion event for the China International Import Expo, Mr Xianhua acknowledged the high imbalance in trade in favour of his country. Heatwave conditions continued unabated as temperature hovered in the range of 40 to 44 degrees Celsius over most parts of the country on Tuesday, with Hamirpur and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh sizzling at 44.2 degrees Celsius. Delhi's primary weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, registered a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius, four notches higher than normal. India celebrated a key milestone in its G20 presidency on Monday with the hosting of the 100th meeting of the grouping, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. It said the 100 G-20 meetings have been held in 41 cities, covering 28 states and union territories of India. "India's G20 presidency, in the build-up to the New Delhi leaders' summit on September 9 and 10, has received immense support from G20 members and guest countries for its inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented and decisive agenda," the MEA said. Maharashtra on Monday reported 505 COVID-19 cases, which took the tally to 81,56,344, while the death count stood unchanged at 1,48,479, a health department official said. On Sunday, Maharashtra had reported 650 COVID-19 cases and two fatalities, he pointed out. Mumbai circle led with 262 cases, followed by 90 in Pune circle, 86 in Aurangabad circle, 39 in Akola circle, 12 in Nashik circle, seven in Kolhapur circle, six in Latur circle and three in Aurangabad circle, he said. The addition to the state's tally included 131 cases in Mumbai, which took the infection count in the country's financial capital to 11,59,759, while the death count stood at 19,754.
