चंद्रयान-3 मिशन के दो उद्देश्य पूरे हुए, चांद की सतह पर वैज्ञानिक प्रयोग जारी: ISRO

भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (ISRO) ने शनिवार को कहा कि चंद्रयान-3 मिशन के तीन में से दो उद्देश्य हासिल कर लिए गए हैं, जबकि तीसरे उद्देश्य के तहत वैज्ञानिक प्रयोग जारी हैं. इसने कहा कि चंद्रयान-3 मिशन के सभी पेलोड सामान्य रूप से काम कर रहे हैं.

इसरो ने एक्स (पूर्व में ट्विटर) पर एक पोस्ट में कहा, ‘‘चंद्रयान-3 मिशन: मिशन के तीन उद्देश्यों में से, चंद्रमा की सतह पर सुरक्षित और सॉफ्ट लैंडिंग का प्रदर्शन पूरा हो गया है. चंद्रमा पर रोवर के घूमने का लक्ष्य हासिल कर लिया गया है. तीसरे उद्देश्य के तहत वैज्ञानिक प्रयोग जारी हैं. सभी पेलोड सामान्य रूप से कार्य कर रहे हैं.''

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने शनिवार को घोषणा की है कि चंद्रयान-3 की ‘सॉफ्ट लैंडिंग' की तारीख 23 अगस्त के दिन को अब राष्ट्रीय अंतरिक्ष दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाएगा और जिस जगह पर इस यान का लैंडर ‘विक्रम' उतरा, उस जगह को अब ‘शिवशक्ति' प्वाइंट के रूप में जाना जाएगा.

उन्होंने यह घोषणा भी की कि 2019 में चंद्रयान-2 ने जिस जगह पर अपने पदचिह्न छोड़े थे, चंद्रमा की उस जगह को अब ‘तिरंगा' प्वाइंट के रूप में जाना जाएगा.

Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Expansion Today, 4 Ministers Likely To Be Inducted

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan will expand his cabinet on Saturday morning with the induction of three to four ministers, the move coming just months ahead of Assembly polls at the end of the year.

The swearing-in ceremony will take place at 8:45am, a Raj Bhavan official told PTI late Friday night.

The names of ex-ministers Rajendra Shukla, a Brahmin leader and MLA from Rewa in the Vindh region, and Gaurishankar Bisen, legislator from Balaghat in the Mahakoshal region and chairman of the MP Backward Class Commission, have almost been finalised for induction in the cabinet, a BJP leader said.

Mr Shukla and Mr Bisen have reached Bhopal.

Deliberations are on between Shivraj Singh Chouhan and senior party functionaries on the names of Rahul Singh Lodhi and Jalam Singh, both from the Other Backward Classes that form 45 per cent of the state's population, he said.

The name of former state minister Lalsingh Arya, who is the president of the BJP SC Morcha, is also doing the rounds for a ministerial berth.

Mr Lodhi, a first-time MLA from Khargapur in Tikamgarh district in the Bundelkhand region, is the nephew of senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Uma Bharti.

Jalam Singh, the MLA from Narsinghpur in the Mahakoshal region, is the younger brother of Union Minister Prahlad Patel.

Currently, the state has 31 ministers, including the Chief Minister, while the figure can go up to 35, or 15 per cent of the strength of the state Assembly, which has 230 members.

The last expansion of the Chouhan cabinet took place in January 2021.

According to party insiders, the expansion is being done on the recommendation of the BJP's central leadership to beat any anti-incumbency, balance caste equations and address regional aspirations.

Manish Gupta, resident editor of a leading Hindi daily, said anti-incumbency is palpable in Mahakoshal, Vindh and Bundelkhand regions of eastern Madhya Pradesh.

The BJP had put up a good show in Vindh and Bundelkhand regions in the 2018 polls, but its performance was below par in Mahakoshal, he said.

Representation of MLAs from Mahakoshal and Vindh was negligible in the cabinet, he said.

"People are feeling their regions have been neglected as far as cabinet representation is concerned. Inclusion of MLAs from Mahakoshal and Bundelkhand in the ministry would prove useful for the BJP in the Assembly polls," Mr Gupta claimed.

Shivraj Singh Chouhan became the Chief Minister in March 2020 after a revolt by MLAs loyal to Jyotiraditya Scindia brought down the then Congress government under Kamal Nath, which had come to power in December 2018 after the Assembly polls.

हिमाचल प्रदेश में भूस्खलन (लैंडस्लाइड) से पीड़ित लोग इस बुरे अनुभव को कभी न भूलने वाला बुरा सपना करार दे रहे हैं. भूस्खलन से प्रभावित प्रोमिला ने कहा, ‘‘इस बुरे वक्त से गुजरने से बेहतर मौत होगी, क्योंकि जीवन में उम्मीद की कोई किरण नजर नहीं आ रही है.'' प्रोमिला यहां भूस्खलन का शिकार हुई एक इमारत में रहती थीं, जहां उनका एक कमरा ढह जाने से उन्होंने अपना सब कुछ खो दिया.

23 अगस्त की सुबह हुए भूस्खलन से एक इमारत आंशिक रूप से क्षतिग्रस्त हो गई, जिसमें प्रोमिला अपनी बीमार मां के साथ रहती थीं. यह इमारत इंदिरा गांधी मेडिकल कॉलेज अस्पताल (आईजीएमसीएच) के नजदीक है.

शुक्रवार को पीटीआई-भाषा से अपना दर्द बयां करते हुए उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘मैं अपनी 75 वर्षीय मां के साथ रहती हूं. वो कैंसर से पीड़ित हैं. 2016 से उनका इलाज जारी है. मैं राम नगर के बाजार में एक दुकान में नौकरी करती थी, जहां पिछले सप्ताह मुझे हटा दिया गया, क्योंकि मंदी के कारण ग्राहक नहीं थे.''

प्रोमिला कहती हैं, ‘‘मैं बृहस्पतिवार की रात आईजीएमसीएच में सोई क्योंकि मेरे पास जाने के लिए कोई जगह नहीं थी.''प्रोमिला के भाई-बहन या पिता नहीं हैं और वह अपने पति से भी अलग हो चुकी हैं.

उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘मैं नौकरी की तलाश में हूं और यहां तक कि मैं साफ-सफाई और झाड़ू-पोछा भी करने को तैयार हूं, क्योंकि मुझे अपनी मां के इलाज के लिए पैसे की बहुत जरूरत है.' प्रोमिला ने 10वीं कक्षा तक पढ़ाई की है.

एक अन्य भूस्खलन पीड़ित सुमन, जिसका कमरा प्रोमिला के कमरे के बगल में था, ने कहा, ‘‘हम अपना सामान नहीं बचा सके और केवल वही कपड़े बचे हैं जो हमने ढहे हुए घर से बाहर निकलते समय पहने थे.''

घरेलू सहायिका के रूप में काम करने वाली सुमन का कहना है कि उन्होंने भूस्खलन में अपना सब कुछ खो दिया है और उनके पास अपने बेटे की स्कूल फीस देने के लिए भी पैसे नहीं हैं.

उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘हमारी स्थिति दयनीय है लेकिन अधिकारियों ने ध्यान नहीं दिया, क्योंकि इस भूस्खलन में किसी के हताहत होने की सूचना नहीं थी, अगर राज्य सरकार आपदा पीड़ितों की मदद नहीं कर सकती तो इतना सारा दान लेने का क्या फायदा.''

सुमन ने कहा, ‘‘हमने गुरुद्वारे में खाना खाया और अपने रिश्तेदारों के घरों में रह रहे हैं, लेकिन हमें कोई मदद या राहत नहीं मिली है.''शिमला में पिछले हफ्तों में कई भूस्खलन हुए हैं और पिछले 10 दिनों में जिले में बारिश से संबंधित घटनाओं में मरने वालों की संख्या बढ़कर 26 हो गई है.

इस महीने राज्य में बारिश से संबंधित घटनाओं में कम से कम 120 लोगों की मौत हो गई है, जबकि 24 जून को हिमाचल प्रदेश में मॉनसून की शुरुआत के बाद से कुल 238 लोगों की मौत हो गई और 40 लोग अभी भी लापता हैं.

Pestering Son-in-law To Abandon His Parents Amounts To Cruelty: High Court

Pestering a son-in-law to abandon his parents and start living with his in-laws as 'ghar jamai' amounts to cruelty, the Delhi High Court has held while granting a divorce decree in favour of a man.

A bench of Justices Suresh Kumar Kait and Neena Bansal Krishna set aside an order of a family court, which had dismissed the husband's divorce petition, and granted divorce to the couple on the ground of cruelty and desertion by the wife.

The man said in his plea that he got married in May 2001 and, within a few months of the marriage, his wife left her matrimonial home and went back to her parents in Delhi during pregnancy.

He said he made sincere efforts to convince her to return to the matrimonial home but she refused, while she and her family members insisted that he shift from Gujarat to Delhi and stay in their house as 'ghar jamai' (resident son-in-law), a proposal to which he did not agree as he had aged parents to take care of.

The woman, however, claimed she was harassed for dowry and that the man was a drunkard and used to beat her up and treat her with cruelty after which she left her matrimonial home in March 2002.

The high court referred to a judgment of the Supreme Court wherein it had observed that asking a son to separate from his family amounts to cruelty. The judgement said for a Hindu son in India, it is not a common practice or desirable culture to get separated from his family after marriage and that he has a moral and legal obligation to take care of his parents when they become old and have negligible or no income.

"Thus, the insistence of the family of respondent (wife) for the appellant (husband) to abandon his parents and become a 'Ghar Jamai' and live in their house amounts to cruelty," the high court held.

The bench said it needs no reiteration that the bedrock of any matrimonial relationship is cohabitation and conjugal relationship, and the gravamen (the most essential part) of any marriage is the succour and peace that the couple derive from the company of each other.

"The very fact that the parties were able to live together barely for six months and since February 2002, they have been living separately proves that the parties were unable to sustain their matrimonial relationship. For a couple to be deprived of each other's company, proves that the marriage cannot survive, and such deprivation of conjugal relationship is an act of extreme cruelty," it said.

The high court noted that the man was acquitted in the criminal case lodged by his wife for allegedly treating her cruelly and breaching her trust.

It said the woman claimed she was beaten and subjected to cruelty but she was not been able to substantiate any of her allegations.

"The making of false complaints in itself is an act of cruelty. Though the acquittal under Section 498A/406 IPC in itself may not be an act of cruelty, the onus was on the respondent to establish that she was subjected to cruelty or had any cogent reason to live separately from the appellant/ husband," it said, adding that the the false complaints filed by the wife against the husband constituted mental cruelty against him.

While the man alleged the woman was in a live-in relationship with someone else, the high court noted she has alleged that her husband had re-married during the subsistence of their marriage in 2015, and also has a child from his second marriage.

The court said the husband admitted to having a child outside marriage from a live-in relationship, while the woman claimed the man she was accused of having an affair with was her "muhbola bhai", a person who she treated as brother though he was not a blood relation.

"Here is the case where long separation has forced both the appellant and respondent to apparently find companionship in a third person. Be that as it may, it is evident that the evidence on record sufficiently proves that the respondent had withdrawn from the company of the appellant for which she has not been able to give any cogent reason," the high court said.

The high court said the woman had withdrawn herself from the company of her husband without any cogent reason.

"Considering the entire evidence, it is proved that the parties had drifted away and that respondent has deserted the petitioner/ appellant without any reasonable cause," it said, and passed the decree for dissolution of the marriage.

Probe Agency Files Chargesheet Against Supertech Chairman RK Arora

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Thursday filed a prosecution complaint (chargesheet) against Supertech chairman RK Arora in connection with a money laundering case in Delhi's Patiala House Court.

The chargesheet filed on Thursday was filed before Special Judge Devender Kumar Jangala, stating that there was sufficient evidence to prosecute Arora for laundering money. The court fixed August 28, 2023, for arguments on the cognisance point of the chargesheet.

Arora was arrested on June 27 under the criminal sections of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA). The Chargesheet has been filed by ED's counsels, Naveen Kumar Matta and Mohd Faizan Khan.

Earlier, while sending Arora to ED remand, the Court said that "the power to seek remand is essentially a part of the power of arrest and to conduct investigation in respect to the commission of the alleged offence of money laundering, and this power has necessarily to be inferred with the help of the above Section as Section 65 of the PMLA, 2002, does not prohibit remand of an accused under the said act to ED custody".

The court also said that when it comes to the power of the ED officers to seek ED custody of the accused, it has been observed that though Section 19 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) does not confer any specific power in this regard, but this power has to be inferred with the help of provisions contained in Section 65 of the PMLA, 2002, and Section 167 of the CrPC, as Section 65 of the PMLA provides that the provisions of the CrPC shall apply, in so far as they are not inconsistent with the provisions of this Act, to arrest, search and seizure, attachment, confiscation, investigation, prosecution, and all other proceedings.

"It is contended on behalf of the accused that the present ECIR was registered in the year 2021, and the applicant has been repeatedly examined by the investigating agency. After completion of the investigation, a provisional attachment order dated April 11, 2023, has been issued, and hence there is no requirement for arrest. The issuance of a provisional attachment order by the competent authority does not mean that the investigation into the offences defined under Section 3 punishable under Section 4 of PMLA has been completed," the court noted.

It has been specifically stated by the ED that the investigation for the commission of an offence punishable under Section 3/4 of PMLA is not yet complete; therefore, the Enforcement Directorate is justified in seeking custody of the applicant/accused, the court said.

However, the court had earlier directed that his interrogation be conducted at some place with CCTV coverage in accordance with the guidelines laid down by the Supreme Court and also in accordance with all the other applicable rules, directions, and guidelines on the subject, and the said CCTV footage shall be preserved.

Earlier, ED apprised the court that 26 FIRS were registered by EOW, Delhi Police, Haryana Police, and UP Police against Supertech Limited and its group companies under Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), read with Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust)/420 (cheating)/467/471 IPC, with allegations of cheating at least 670 home buyers for an amount of Rs. 164 crore.

ED also alleged that the amount collected by Supertech Ltd. was diverted to their group companies for the purchase of properties, with the company with land having a much lesser value. ED alleged that the accused persons have acquired properties and made illegal/wrongful gains arising out of the said proceeds of crime by involving, indulging in, and commissioning criminal activities related to scheduled offences. It is stated that the prima facie case for the commission of an offence punishable under Section 3 and punishable under Section 4 of the PML Act has been made out.

Lesbian Woman's Family Directed To Take Counselling By Delhi High Court

The Delhi High Court has directed the parents and maternal uncle of a 22-year-old lesbian woman to undergo counselling in order to prepare themselves to accept her "as per her wishes".

The court's order came on a habeas corpus petition by the woman's friend who claimed that she was "missing".

After interacting with the parties involved, a bench headed by Justice Suresh Kumar Kait directed the police to take the woman to a shelter home and make necessary arrangements for her boarding and lodging there.

While asking the director of the shelter home to provide "counselling session" to the woman, the court observed that her family members should also be counselled on alternate days.

The bench, also comprising Justice Neena Bansal Krishna, further directed the "parents and all other concerned" to "not to extend any kind of threat or undue pressure upon" their daughter and the petitioner.

"It is further directed that parents of (the woman) shall also be counselled at least on an alternative day to prepare them to accept (her) as per her wishes. The parents and maternal uncle are directed to approach the aforesaid shelter home for counselling, who shall be counselled by the Director and if they wish for further counselling, they shall be counselled accordingly, on the alternate days, thereafter," said the court in a recent order.

The parents of the woman "agreed" before the court that she should be sent to the shelter home in order to "reflect and introspect about her future".

The woman told the court that she was not willing to accompany her parents or any of the relatives and would either go with the petitioner or to the shelter home.

"जब चंद्रयान-3 धरती पर उतरेगा..." : यूपी के नेता की गफलत का वीडियो वायरल

उत्तर प्रदेश की सुहेलदेव भारतीय समाज पार्टी (SBSP) के प्रमुख ओपी राजभर ने बुधवार (23 अगस्त) को चंद्रमा पर उतरे चंद्रयान-3 की सफलता के लिए इसरो वैज्ञानिकों को शुभकामनाएं देते हुए एक गलती कर दी. कुछ महीने पहले बीजेपी के नेतृत्व वाले राष्ट्रीय जनतांत्रिक गठबंधन (NDA) में शामिल हुए 60 वर्षीय राजभर ने कहा कि जब अंतरिक्ष यान पृथ्वी पर वापस आएगा तो पूरे देश को उसका स्वागत करना चाहिए. वे चंद्रमा की सतह पर विक्रम लैंडर मॉड्यूल के टचडाउन से पहले यूपी तक (इंडिया टुडे ग्रुप चैनल) से बात कर रहे थे.

वायरल हुए शॉर्ट वीडियो क्लिप में राजभर वैज्ञानिकों को उनके निरंतर शोध के लिए बधाई देते हुए सुने जा सकते हैं.

चंद्रयान-3 मिशन पर उन्होंने कहा, "मैं उन्हें इसके लिए बधाई देता हूं. कल जब पृथ्वी पर इसके सुरक्षित आगमन का समय आएगा तो पूरे देश को इसका स्वागत करना चाहिए."

राजभर की यह टिप्पणी राजस्थान के खेल मंत्री अशोक चांदना द्वारा चंद्रयान-3 में सवार "यात्रियों" को सैल्यूट करने के एक दिन बाद आई है.

योगी आदित्यनाथ के मुख्यमंत्री के रूप में पहले कार्यकाल के दौरान कैबिनेट मंत्री का पद छोड़ने के बाद राजभर ने समाजवादी पार्टी के साथ गठबंधन में 2022 का यूपी चुनाव लड़ा था. बाद में वे यह आरोप लगाते हुए एनडीए में लौट आए कि उत्तर प्रदेश में विपक्ष के दबाव में कोई दम नहीं है.

इस बीच, चंद्रयान-3 की सफलता ने भारत को चंद्रमा की सतह पर सफलतापूर्वक खोजी यान उतारने वाला चौथा देश बना दिया है. इसके अलावा भारत चांद के दक्षिणी ध्रुव के आसपास अज्ञात क्षेत्र तक पहुंचने वाला पहला देश बन गया है.

इसरो के अध्यक्ष एस सोमनाथ ने कहा कि विक्रम लैंडर चंद्रमा पर एक खास क्षेत्र में तय उद्देश्य के लिए उतरा है. उन्होंने कहा कि रोवर में दो उपकरण और लैंडर पर तीन उपकरण हैं. उन सभी को क्रमिक रूप से चालू किया गया है.

अब मंगल और शुक्र ग्रह पर यान उतारने की तैयारी: चंद्रयान-3 की कामयाबी पर बोले ISRO चीफ

भारतीय अंतरिक्ष अनुसंधान संगठन (इसरो) प्रमुख एस.सोमनाथ ने चंद्रयान-3 की सफलता पर खुशी व्यक्त करते हुए इसका श्रेय वैज्ञानिकों को दिया, जिन्होंने इस उपलब्धि को हासिल करने के लिए बेहद कष्ट और पीड़ा सही.  इसरो चीफ ने कहा कि आने वाले वर्षों में इसरो का यान इसी तरह मंगल ग्रह पर उतरेगा.

एस सोमनाथ ने कहा कि चंद्रयान-3 की सफलता इसरो नेतृत्व और वैज्ञानिकों की पीढ़ियों की मेहनत का नतीजा है और यह सफलता ‘बहुत बड़ी' और ‘प्रोत्साहित करने वाली' है. उन्होंने कहा कि चंद्रमा की यात्रा कठिन है और प्रौद्योगिकी क्षमता हासिल करने के बावजूद आज किसी भी देश के लिए किसी खगोलीय पिंड पर यान को सफलतापूर्वक उतारना मुश्किल कार्य है.

इसरो प्रमुख ने कहा कि भारत ने यह सफलता केवल दो मिशन में हासिल कर ली है. चंद्रमा पर यान उतारने की पहली कोशिश मिशन चंद्रयान-2, अंतिम समय में असफल रहा था जबकि चंद्रयान-3 मिशन पूरी तरह से सफल हुआ. चंद्रयान-1 का उद्देश्य केवल मानव रहित अंतरिक्ष यान को चंद्रमा की कक्षा में स्थापित करना था.

सोमनाथ ने कहा, ‘‘यह सफलता (चंद्रयान-3 मिशन की) हमारा न केवल चंद्र मिशन के लिए आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाएगी बल्कि यह मंगल तक जाएगी. एक समय मंगल ग्रह पर सॉफ्ट लैंडिंग होगी और हो सकता है कि भविष्य में शुक्र ग्रह और अन्य ग्रहों पर ...भी यह कोशिश हो.''

उन्होंने कहा कि चंद्रयान-3 कठिन मिशन है और ‘‘हम इसके लिए बहुत ही पीड़ा और कष्ट से गुजरे.'' इसरो प्रमुख ने बताया कि चंद्रयान-2 के लिए काम करने वाले अहम वैज्ञानिक चंद्रयान-3 की टीम का भी हिस्सा थे. उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘ज्यादातर लोग जो चंद्रयान-2 के साथ थे, वे हमारे साथ हैं और चंद्रयान-3 में हमारी मदद कर रहे हैं. वे इसका हिस्सा हैं, वे इतनी पीड़ा से गुजरे हैं...''

सोमनाथ बताया कि यह वैश्विक स्तर के उपकरणों के साथ पूरी तरह से ‘मेक इन इंडिया' मिशन था. उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘...चंद्रयान-3 में हमारे पास जो प्रौद्योगिकी है, वह चंद्रमा पर जाने वाली किसी भी अन्य प्रौद्योगिकी से कम जटिल या कमतर नहीं है. हमारे पास चंद्रयान-3 में दुनिया के सबसे अच्छे सेंसर, अपनी श्रेणी में सर्वश्रेष्ठ (उपकरण) हैं.''

प्रधनमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी भी दक्षिण अफ्रीका से ऑनलाइन माध्यम से इस जटिल मिशन के मुकाम तक पहुंचने के गवाह बनने के लिए जुड़े थे और उन्होंने भी वैज्ञानिकों की कोशिश की प्रशंसा की.

मिशन परिचालन परिसर में इसरो टीम को संबोधित करते हुए सोमनाथ ने कहा, ‘‘ माननीय प्रधानमंत्री ने मुझे फोन कॉल किया और अपनी शुभकामनाएं आप सभी को और आपके परिवारों को इसरो में किए गए आपके शानदार कार्य के लिए दी हैं. चंद्रयान-3 और ऐसे अन्य मिशन में सहयोग देने के लिए मैं उनको धन्यवाद ज्ञापित करता हूं। राष्ट्र के लिए हम जो प्रेरणादायक कार्य कर रहे हैं, उसे आगे बढ़ाने के लिए हमें प्रशंसा मिल रही है. ''

इसरो ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री का ‘‘दीर्घकालिक दृष्टिकोण बहुत ही स्पष्ट है और वह यह सुनिश्चित करना चाहते हैं कि अंतरिक्ष अन्वेषण और विज्ञान में हमारा प्रभुत्व रहे.'' मिशन परिचालन परिसर में इसरो टीम को संबोधित करते हुए, उन्होंने उन सभी को धन्यवाद दिया, जिन्होंने मिशन की सफलता के लिए प्रार्थना की, और विशेष रूप से ए एस किरण कुमार (पूर्व इसरो प्रमुख) जैसे इसरो के दिग्गजों का नाम लिया.

उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘ वे बहुत मददगार रहे, वे उस टीम का हिस्सा थे जो वैज्ञानिकों का आत्मविश्वास बढ़ाते थे. इससे वैज्ञानिक अपने काम की समीक्षा करते थे और सुनिश्चित करते थे कि कोई गलती न हो.''

इसरो ने बुधवार को अंतरिक्ष क्षेत्र में एक नया इतिहास रचते हुए चंद्रमा के दक्षिणी ध्रुव पर लैंडर ‘विक्रम' और 26 किलोग्राम वजनी रोवर ‘प्रज्ञान' से लैस लैंडर मॉड्यूल की ‘सॉफ्ट लैंडिग' कराने में सफलता हासिल की। भारतीय समयानुसार शाम करीब छह बजकर चार मिनट पर इसने चांद की सतह को छुआ.

सोमनाथ ने रेखांकित किया कि यह इसरो नेतृत्व और वैज्ञानिकों की पीढ़ियों की मेहनत का नतीजा है. उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘यह वह यात्रा है जो चंद्रयान-1 से शुरू हुई थी, जो चंद्रयान-2 में भी जारी रही और चंद्रयान-2 अब भी काम कर रहा है और बहुत से संदेश भेज रहा है.''

सोमनाथ ने कहा, ‘‘ चंद्रयान-3 की सफलता का जश्न मनाने के साथ चंद्रयान-1 और चंद्रयान-2 बनाने वाली पूरी टीम के योगदान को याद किया जाना चाहिए और धन्यवाद ज्ञापित करना चाहिए.''उन्होंने कहा, ‘‘यह प्रोत्साहित करने वाली प्रगति है और निश्चित तौर पर बहुत बड़ी है.''

Moon Landing Done, ISRO Now Sets Eyes On Mars

ISRO Chairman S Somanath on Wednesday toasted the success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission, crediting it to the “pain and agony” of all the scientists who persevered on it and expressed confidence that the space agency would similarly land a spacecraft on Mars in the coming years.

Acknowledging the contribution of a generation of leadership by the scientists of the country's space agency for the Chandrayaan-3 mission's success, he said this is an "incremental progress" and "definitely a huge one”.

The journey to the Moon is tough and soft-landing is difficult for any nation to achieve today even with the advancement of technology, he said, pointing out that India achieved it in just two missions. Chandrayaan-2, the first mission with the objective of soft landing on the Moon had a narrow miss, while the Chandrayaan-3 mission was perfectly executed.

Chandrayaan-1's objective was only to place an unmanned spacecraft in an orbit around the Moon.

"It (success of Chandrayaan-3 mission) gives the confidence to configure missions to not only go to the Moon, but also to go to Mars, sometimes (perhaps) land on Mars, maybe in future go to Venus and other planets...", he said.

Undertaking the Chandrayaan-3 mission was difficult, he said. "We went through a lot of pain and agony".

Key scientists behind Chandrayaan-2 were also part of the Chandrayaan-3 team, he said. "Most of the people who were with Chandrayaan-2 are with us helping us to do Chandrayaan-3. They are a part of this, they have gone through such an agony..." "...the technology that we have in Chandrayaan-3 is no less complex or inferior to any other technology that goes to the Moon. So, we have the best of the sensors of the world, best in class (equipment) in Chandrayaan-3", he said, explaining that it was a completely ‘Made-in-India' mission using world-class components.

Conveying the greetings of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to the ISRO team, he said, "The Honourable PM called me and conveyed his greetings to each one of you and your family for the wonderful work you did in ISRO.” Speaking about the support from the government to pursue further space missions, both scientific as well as commercial, he said, “Thanks to him (PM) for the support he is giving to us for missions like Chandrayaan-3 and missions that are in the offing. That's the great word of comfort that we are receiving for pursuing the inspirational work that we are doing for the nation.” The ISRO chief said the Prime Minister is “very, very clear about the long-term vision, and wants to make sure that we remain very, very dominant in the area of space exploration and science”.

Addressing the ISRO team at the Mission Operations Complex, he thanked all those who prayed for the mission's success, and in particular named ISRO veterans like A S Kiran Kumar (former ISRO chief).

"They have been helping so much, they were part of the team to help them (team) to get the confidence and get the reviews done, and to ensure that nothing goes with any mistakes," he said.

India on Wednesday scripted history as ISRO's ambitious third Moon mission Chandrayaan-3's Lander Module (LM) touched down on the lunar surface, making it only the fourth country to accomplish the feat, and the first to reach the uncharted south pole of Earth's only natural satellite.

The LM comprising the lander (Vikram) and the 26 kg rover (Pragyan) made the soft landing near the south polar region of the Moon this evening.

Noting that this is the work of a generation of ISRO's leadership and scientists, Somanath said, "This is the journey we started with Chandrayaan-1, continued in Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-2 craft is still working and doing a lot of communication work with us. All the team that contributed to building Chandrayaan-1 and 2 should be remembered and thanked, while we celebrate (the success of) Chandrayaan-3." "This is an incremental progress and definitely a huge one," he added.

Rover Pragyan Rolls Out Of Chandrayaan-3 Lander Near Moon's South Pole

India's moon mission Chandrayaan-3 made a perfect landing today near the South Pole of the moon. The next big manoeuvre was the rolling out of the Pragyan rover, which will send data from the spot to the lander that will be relayed to space agency ISRO.  

The launch of the rover, though, took time. This is because the rover cannot be launched till the dust kicked up by the touchdown of the Vikram lander is dissipated. The gravity of moon being a fraction of that of Earth, dust does not settle the way it does on Earth.  

The scientists were concerned that if the rover is rolled out before the dust dissipates, it can damage the cameras and other sensitive equipment on the rover. It was, however, quicker than a day that ISRO Chief S Somnath had spoken of.

"The rover will come out in a few hours. Sometimes it takes a day also... Once the rover comes out, it will do two experiments," Mr Somnath had told reporters in the euphoric moments after the landing.  "We are looking at a very exciting time after Pragyan's entry... It will do experiments for 14 days," he had added.

The rover Pragyan will first extend its solar arrays and roll out with a wire connected to the lander Vikram. The wire will be snapped once the rover is stable on the lunar surface. It will then start its scientific mission.

The experiments will continue for 14 days -- which is a single moon day. As the night on the moon begins, the solar-powered equipment is likely to shut down.

The data to be sent by Pragyan is of vital importance, given the traces of water found in the area. This was detected by a NASA instrument aboard the ISRO's Chandrayaan-1 probe in 2009.   

Chandrayaan-3 is the first moon mission to land near the South Pole of the moon and this is the first opportunity to explore the possibility of the presence of water -- which will be crucial commodity in view of future moon missions.

The presence of water holds hope for future moon missions -- it could be used as a source of drinking water, to cool equipment and broken down to produce oxygen. It can also have clues to the origins of oceans.

भारत की अध्यक्षता में नई दिल्ली में अगले महीने जी-20 समिट होने जा रहा है. प्रगति मैदान के कंवेशन सेंटर में 9 से 10 सितंबर तक जी-20 समिट का आयोजन होना है. अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडेन G20 समिट के लिए दो दिन पहले 7 सितंबर को भारत पहुंचेंगे. ऐसा पहली बार होगा जब कोई अमेरिकी प्रेसिडेंट चार दिन भारत में रहेंगे. इस दौरान पीएम मोदी और बाइडेन के बीच दो बार मुलाकात होनी है.

व्हाइट हाउस की तरफ से जारी बयान में कहा गया है कि प्रेसिडेंट जो बाइडेन G20 समिट शुरू होने से दो दिन पहले 7 सितंबर को ही भारत पहुंच जाएंगे. उनका दौरा चार दिन का होगा. खास बात यह है कि बाइडेन इंडोनेशिया में होने वाली आसियान समिट में शिरकत नहीं करेंगे. आसियान में बाइडेन की जगह वाइस प्रेसिडेंट कमला हैरिस शिरकत करेंगी.

विश्व बैंक क्षमता बढ़ाने पर होगी चर्चा
न्यूज़ एजेंसी 'AFP' की रिपोर्ट के मुताबिक, व्हाइट हाउस के राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकार जेक सुलिवन ने मंगलवार (22 अगस्त) को एक ब्रीफिंग में इसकी जानकारी दी. अधिकारी ने बताया कि बाइडेन के दौरे के दौरान वैश्विक चुनौतियों से निपटने सहित गरीबी से बेहतर ढंग से लड़ने के लिए विश्व बैंक सहित बहुपक्षीय विकास बैंकों की क्षमता बढ़ाने पर भी चर्चा की जाएगी.

व्हाइट हाउस की प्रेस सचिव कैरिन जीन-पियरे ने कहा कि राष्ट्रपति बाइडेन और जी20 साझेदार वैश्विक मुद्दों से निपटने के लिए चर्चा करेंगे. इसमें स्वच्छ ऊर्जा, जलवायु परिवर्तन का मुकाबला करना, यूक्रेन संघर्ष के आर्थिक और सामाजिक प्रभावों को कम करना शामिल है.

जी-20 समिट के दौरान भारत-अमेरिका के बीच व्यापार और रक्षा के अलावा साइबर सिक्योरिटी से जुड़े कुछ अहम समझौते हो सकते हैं. 2026 में G20 समिट अमेरिका में होगी. प्रधानमंत्री मोदी प्रेसिडेंट बाइडेन को अध्यक्षता सौंपेंगे.

बता दें कि पीएम मोदी ने जून में अमेरिका की राजकीय यात्रा की थी. ये दौरा कई मायनों में अहम रहा. जेट इंजन, ड्रोन खरीद, स्पेस मिशन और भारत में चिप बनाने से जुड़े कई समझौते दोनों देशों के बीच हुए थे.

मौजूद रहेंगे वीवीआईपी?
इस समिट में अमेरिकी राष्ट्रपति जो बाइडन के अलावा, चीनी प्रधानमंत्री शी जिनपिंग, कनाडाई प्रधानमंत्री जस्टिन ट्रूडो और फ्रांसीसी राष्ट्रपति इमैनुएल मैक्रॉन सहित कई राष्ट्राध्यक्षों और राजनयिक शामिल होंगे.

ये ताकतवर देश हैं G20 के सदस्य
यूरोपीय यूनियन को हटाकर G20 में 19 शक्तिशाली देश शामिल हैं. इसमें प्रमुख रूप से संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिका, कनाडा, मैक्सिको, अर्जेंटीना, ब्राजील, दक्षिण अफ्रीका, चीन, जापान, दक्षिण कोरिया, भारत, इंडोनेशिया, रूस, तुर्की, फ्रांस, जर्मनी, इटली, यूके, सऊदी अरब और ऑस्ट्रेलिया शामिल हैं.  

G20 समिट में ये देश होंगे मेहमान
इस बार G20 समिट में मेहमानों की लिस्ट में बांग्लादेश, मिस्र, मॉरीशस, नीदरलैंड, नाइजीरिया, ओमान, सिंगापुर, स्पेन, और यूनाइटेड अरब अमीरात (यूएई) शामिल हैं. शिखर सम्मेलन में भाग लेने के लिए आने वाले विश्वभर के दिग्गज नेताओं, मिशन के स्वागत और ठहरने के लिए विदेश मंत्रालय ने कुल 35 होटलों को बुक किया है.

27% Quota For Other Backward Classes In Gujarat Local Bodies: Congress

The Congress on Tuesday demanded a 27 per cent reservation for the Other Backward Classes (OBC) in local bodies in Gujarat and asked the government to make public the Justice Jhaveri Commission report.

The opposition party also made a strong pitch for a caste-based census.

These demands were made during a sit-in protest organised under the "Jan Adhikar Samiti" banner by Congress legislature party leader Amit Chavda, state unit president Shaktisinh Gohil, Jagdish Thakor, and others, at the Satyagrah Chhavni ground here.

Chavda said OBC leaders belonging to the ruling BJP were also invited to join the dharna but none came. In a dig, he said it seems "the BJP leaders are following the directions of their party high command".

He said the Scheduled Tribe, Scheduled Caste and OBC communities will organise a Mahapanchayat for their rights and protest "discriminatory policies of the government".

"We had invited leaders of the OBC community sitting in the government to come to this dharna but no one joined us. They ignored their community and decided not to participate as per the order of their party. If the community has voted you to power, then you should come forward and support them," said Chavda.

He demanded the government conduct a caste-based census, publish Justice Jhaveri Commission's report, and allot 27 per cent reservation to the OBC community in all local self-government institutions.

Chavda also demanded a 27 per cent allocation to the OBC community in the annual state budget, and implementation of reservation to the ST, SC, OBC, and minority communities in cooperatives.

The main contention of the opposition party is the "delay" in making public a report submitted by the Justice Jhaveri Commission formed last year by the BJP government to ascertain the nature and implications of backwardness in local bodies to decide on reservation for OBCs in them.

The report was submitted to the government in April this year.

The Congress has been alleging that since this report has not been made public, elections to several local bodies have been put on hold in Gujarat.

The BJP government set up the commission, headed by Gujarat High Court Judge KS Jhaveri (retired) last July to collect and analyse data about the nature and implications of backwardness in local bodies, an exercise necessary for fixing the OBC quota in elections for institutes of local self-governance in the state.

As directed by the Supreme Court, seats to be reserved for OBC candidates in each local body will be decided as per the recommendations of the commission following a detailed study.

Chavda also demanded that sub-plan committees be formed to oversee the budget spending on OBCs and sought the reservation for them, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (STs) in cooperative bodies of the state.

With 21 "Youth" Members, Average Age Of Congress Top Panel 61

The average age in the newly-formed 84-member Congress Working Committee under party chief Mallikarjun Kharge is 61 years, with the eldest member being former prime minister Manmohan Singh at 90.

The youngest in the CWC is 31-year-old Neeraj Kundan, who is an ex-officio member of the body as the president of the National Students Union of India (NSUI), the students' wing of the party.

The Congress has failed to fulfil its promise of having 50 per cent of people below the age of 50 years made in its Udaipur declaration but has maintained 66.6 per cent reservation for SCs, STs, OBCs, minorities and women as promised during its Raipur plenary session.

An analysis of the decision-making body of the Congress party reveals that it has 12 members of the Scheduled Castes, four from Scheduled Tribes, 16 from other backward classes, nine among minorities and 15 women, besides 43 general category people.

There are 21 'youth' members around the age of 50 years like Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Sachin Pilot, Deepender Hooda, Meenakshi Natrajan, Praniti Shinde, Supriya Shrinate, B V Srinivas, Alka Lamba, Phulo Devi Netam and Gurdeep Sappal, the party leaders claim.

However, a detailed analysis of the age of all the 39 regular members reveals that the average age is around 66 years, which leaders say is high as some from the old guard like former prime minister Manmohan Singh, A K Antony, Ambika Soni and others had to be accommodated keeping in mind their vast political experience.

Among the regular members, while Manmohan Singh is the eldest at 90 years, Gourav Gogoi, the party's deputy leader in Lok Sabha and son of former Assam chief minister Tarun Gogoi, is the youngest at 40 years.

Kanhaiya Kumar, 36, has also been included in the CWC among the permanent invitees as he is in-charge of the NSUI.

The Congress had during the Udaipur plenary, where the presidency of Mallikarjun Kharge was ratified, promised to provide 50 per cent reservation for youths at all levels of the party including its top body the CWC.

Also, it was decided to have a 50 per cent reservation in the expanded CWC for SCs/STs/OBCs/Minorities and women.

There are 14 per cent SCs, five per cent STs, 19 per cent Other Backward Classes, 11 per cent minorities and 18 per cent women in the CWC body which includes permanent members, special invitees and the in-charges of various states and heads of front organisations of the party.

Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, who is himself 81 years old, has attempted a fine balancing act by ensuring a blend of young and old leaders and giving space to dissident voices who have in the past raised questions on the party leadership.

He included Shashi Tharoor who contested against him for the Congress chief's post, even though his elevation as a regular member has been objected to strongly by senior Congressmen like Ramesh Chennithala in Kerala, under whom Shashi Tharoor had joined.

The CWC includes several leaders from poll-bound states of Rajasthan, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Mizoram, where assembly elections are due shortly followed by the crucial Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

The all-important Congress Working Committee, formed 10 months after Kharge took charge after defeating Shashi Tharoor, has 39 regular members, 32 permanent invitees and 13 special invitees.

While Kanhaiya Kumar and Deepender Hooda have been named among the permanent invitees, the special invitees include Supriya Shrinate, Pawan Khera, Praniti Shinde and Alka Lamba.

Former Punjab chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi and Himachal Congress chief Pratibha Singh, who recently backed the government's push for Uniform Civil Code, also find a place among permanent invitees along with G23 leader Veerappa Moily.

The regular members of the CWC include Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, Manmohan Singh, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, A K Antony, Ambika Soni, Meira Kumar, Digvijaya Singh, P Chidambaram, Tariq Anwar, Lal Thanhawala, Mukul Wasnik, Anand Sharma, Ashokrao Chavan, Ajay Maken and Kumari Selja, according to the party statement.

Mukul Wasnik, Anand Sharma and Shashi Tharoor, part of the group of 23 dissident leaders who had written to then Congress president Sonia Gandhi and had raised questions on the party's leadership, are among the regular members of the new CWC.

Astrologer Poses As Gujarat Official, Threatens Tax Officer; Arrested

A 28-year-old man working as an astrologer-cum-priest was arrested on Monday for allegedly trying to threaten a Goods and Services Tax (GST) official in Gujarat and interfere in his work by posing as a senior bureaucrat in the Chief Minister's Office (CMO), said police.

Based on a complaint submitted by the GST official, the Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch arrested one Lavkush Dwivedi, a native of Uttar Pradesh currently residing at Sanand near Ahmedabad city, said a police release.

When the complainant was conducting a survey of a company in Unjha town of Mehsana district a few days back under the provisions of the GST Act, Dwivedi called on his mobile phone and identified himself as a senior officer working in the CMO in Gandhinagar, said the release.

As per the FIR (first information report) registered by the crime branch on the basis of the complaint, Dwivedi, in a threatening tone, asked the GST officer to wind-up his ongoing probe against the firm, it said.

After his arrest, it was revealed the firm under the scanner belonged to Dwivedi's uncle. Dwivedi posed as a CMO official with a hope that GST officials would believe his claim and stop any proceedings against his uncle's firm, said the release.

While Dwivedi works as an astrologer and a priest performing various religious rituals, he is also into providing private security to VIPs, said the police, adding in the past he has misused his political connections.

Driver Mukesh Kumar has been booked under serious provisions of the law, Superintendent of Police (Uttarkashi) Arpan Yaduvanshi told reporters.

Prima facie, over-speeding and careless driving led to Sunday's accident on the Gangotri Highway, he said.

Even the injured passengers, in their statements to the media, spoke about the speed of the bus at the time it fell off a narrow road into a gorge, Yaduvanshi said.

The driver did not have the time to bring the vehicle under control due to over-speeding, he added.

The district magistrate has ordered a magisterial probe into the accident and the police are also investigating it minutely, the officer said.

The driver is among the injured and action will be taken against him once he recovers, he said.

The bus with 35 people on board was returning from Gangotri.

In Maharashtra's Latur, Sons Won't Get Property, Government Benefits If...

A gram panchayat in Maharashtra's Latur has passed a resolution stating that not taking care of elderly parents will result in their sons and daughters-in-law losing inheritance to property rights.

This resolution was passed in the Independence Day meeting of Yerol gram panchayat in Shiroor-Anantpal tehsil, Deputy Sarpanch Satish Sindalkar told news agency PTI.

Apart from village sarpanch Sukumar Lokre, the meeting was also attended by an agriculture assistant, village development officer and villagers.

"Village development officer Keshav Madiboyne read out the previous minutes. Issues such as removing encroachment from the main road and chowks in the village, providing a graveyard for the Lingayat community, building a community temple, supplying drinking water, making roads free of encroachment, and stopping illegal liquor trade were discussed and decisions were taken," Mr Sindalkar said.

The meeting also discussed the issue of elderly parents being not looked after by their sons and daughters-in-law, he said.

"It was decided to deny the benefits of government schemes to children who don't take care of their elderly parents. A resolution was passed unanimously to not register names of the sons under inheritance rights in the gram panchayat records who don't take care of their parents," the Deputy Sarpanch said.

He claimed this resolution is being welcomed in Latur district.

ISRO Recruitment Test Cancelled After 2 From Haryana Caught Cheating

The Vikram Sarabhai Space Centre (VSSC) on Monday cancelled the test held a day ago to hire technical staff, after two men from Haryana were arrested for allegedly impersonating and cheating in the exam.

The VSSC, in a notification, said that the written tests to the posts of technician-B, draughtsman-B and radiographer-A held on August 20 at various centres in Thiruvananthapuram now stand cancelled.

"The revised schedule for the test will be informed to all the candidates through the VSSC website in due course. Inconvenience caused is regretted," the statement said.

The move comes after the Kerala Police caught two people red-handed at separate test centres as they cheated and arrested them.

On checking their identities, the police realised they were proxying for the actual candidates when their names did not match with those appearing for the exam.

Besides these two, four others from Haryana are in police custody for cheating.

The police launched a full-fledged investigation into the incident, had also urged VSSC to cancel the test.

As more than 400 candidates from Haryana had taken the test, there are suspicions over whether coaching centres may be involved. An investigating team will be sent to the state to collaborate with the state's police for the probe, the police had said earlier.

A case under Sections 406 (criminal breach of trust), 420 (cheating) and various other provisions of the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act has been lodged against those arrested, the police said.

"The two arrested accused will also be charged for impersonating the actual candidates," they said.

The national-level recruitment test was held only in Kerala at 10 exam centres, the police added.

Rajinikanth Offers Prayers At Ram Mandir, Hanuman Temple In Ayodhya

Superstar Rajinikanth offered prayers at the Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Sunday and saw the construction work. He also visited the Hanuman Garhi temple and paid obeisance.

"I wished to come here for a long time and I am fortunate that the wish has been fulfilled. If Lord wishes, I will come again after the construction of the temple is completed," Rajinikanth told reporters.

At the Ram Janmabhoomi, he was welcomed by senior officials, including the Ayodhya Commissioner Gaurav Dayal, the Inspector-General of Police Praveen Kumar and the Municipal Commissioner Vishal Singh.

The chief priest of the Ram temple Acharya Satyendra Das presented Rajinikanth a model of the Ram temple and a stole with the name of Lord Ram woven on it.

Mahant Raju Das of the Hanuman Garhi temple told news agency PTI that the actor spent around 10 minutes at the temple.

"I express my thanks to Rajinikanth ji. Today, people from different parts of the country, of different professions and Bollywood are being attracted towards Ayodhya," he said.

Earlier in the day, Rajinikanth met Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav at his residence in Lucknow.

The Tamil superstar reached Lucknow on Friday to promote his film "Jailer", which hit the screens on August 10. On Saturday, he met Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. The actor said his meeting with the UP Chief Minister was "very good".

On Saturday afternoon, Rajinikanth along with UP Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya watched "Jailer" in Lucknow.

Ticket Checker Says Attacked With Knife By Drunken Man On Train In Kerala

A travelling ticket examiner (TTE) was allegedly attacked with a knife onboard a moving train in Kerala by a man against whom the railway official had complained to the RPF for being drunk.

The incident occurred on the West Coast Express on Sunday close to Vatakara in Kozhikode district, a Railway police officer said.

The accused was arrested based on the TTE's statement, the police said.

The TTE claimed to have suffered an injury to the back of his head in the attack.

He told reporters that from Kannur he notice the alleged attacker was drunk and accordingly informed the Railway Protection Force's (RPF) control room.

Subsequently, RPF officers made him deboard the train at Thalassery, the TTE said.

However, the man got back on the train under the pretext of getting his bag and then went and sat in the general compartment, he said.

Later while checking for tickets, he found the man in another reserved coach and on confronting him, the accused abused the official in Hindi and took out a knife and started waving it around, the TTE claimed, adding that he was injured during the ensuing scuffle.

Some of the passengers standing behind the accused managed to restrain him, averting any serious injuries to the ticket checker, the official said.
