Three terrorist associates of banned terror outfit Hizbul Mujahideen were arrested in Jammu and Kashmir's kulgam, police said on Saturday. Those arrested were identified as M Abass Wagay, Gowhar Ahmad Mir and Nisar Ahmad Sheikh, all residents of Shopian. "During the search operation, police recovered 1 pistol, 2 pistol Magazines and 13 live Pistol rounds," officials said. "A case has been registered against the arrested terrorist associates under the relevant sections," officials informed further. Further investigation into this matter is underway, they added. Days after a doctor from Veraval town in Gujarat's Gir Somnath district died allegedly by suicide, his son submitted an application to the police seeking registration of an FIR against a Member of Parliament and the lawmaker's father for “threatening” the medical practitioner and usurping nearly Rs 1.75 crore. The Veraval City police station accepted the application by Dr Atul Chag's son Hitarth on Friday, and started further investigation into the case, said Superintendent of Police Manoharsinh Jadeja. Dr Chag, an MD Physician, was a well-known doctor of the Veraval region. He was found hanging from the ceiling fan of his hospital in the town on February 12. Police had found a one-line suicide note blaming the MP and his father. In a first, the Haryana Police have identified a Kurukshetra man whose body was found in Croatia through DNA matching using the Interpol's standardised digital format, officials said on Saturday. The body was identified as that of Parminder Singh, they said. In a statement, the police said this is the first time that a case of DNA matching has been done using Interpol's standardized digital format. Initially, the Haryana Police had sent a physical DNA sample which could not be sent through the Interpol channels. Later, the digital format of the DNA profile was collected by the Haryana Police from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory, Chandigarh, which was then transmitted to Croatia using Interpol channels on the same day, police said. Kurukshetra resident Paramjeet Kaur had lodged a complaint, saying her son Parminder wanted to go to Italy but had instead reached Serbia, police said. The body of a 40-year-old man who went missing days ago on the inter-state border between Tamil Nadu and Karnataka was found floating on the banks of River Palar on Friday in Erode district, police said. The Election Commission on Friday lamented that party constitutions are often "mutilated" to undemocratically appoint people from a coterie as office-bearers without any election at all. While delivering its final order allotting the name 'Shiv Sena' and its poll symbol 'bow and arrow' to the group led by Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, the poll panel also observed that the constitutions of political parties ought to provide for free, fair and transparent election of office-bearers. Rajasthan Governor Kalraj Mishra sought a clarification from the Gehlot government on its reported plan to replace the existing treasury system with a pay and account office system, and also expressed displeasure over the formation of commissions and corporations "without following" prescribed rules. The Governor wrote two separate letters to the chief minister flagging these issues. He also attached a copy of the letter received from the Deputy Comptroller and Auditor General's office on the issue of the pay and account office system. Patients aged 65 years and above can also register for receiving organs from a deceased donor now as the Centre has made necessary changes in the regulation, official sources said today. They also said the Union Health Ministry has recommended all states to remove the domicile criterion so that needy patients can register themselves in any state for receiving organs. The sources said the ministry also asked states not to charge any fee from patients seeking such registration, saying it was against the provisions of the Transplantation of Human Organs and Tissues Rules, 2014, An official said states such as Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Kerala have been charging anything between Rs 5,000 to 10,000. The National Organ and Tissue Transplant Organisation (NOTTO) has made necessary changes in the guidelines which now allows patients aged 65 years and above to register themselves for receiving organs from a deceased donor. Police probing the alleged suicide by an Indian Institute of Technology Bombay student today said he had spoken to his father for around 30 minutes before ending his life, but did not mention anything about facing caste discrimination. An official said the police have started recording statements of his hostel roommates to ascertain what led the student, Darshan Solanki, to take the extreme step. A student organisation has alleged Solanki -- a Dalit -- was facing caste discrimination at the campus, but the IIT Bombay administration has refuted the charge. The 18-year-old student died allegedly after jumping off the seventh floor of a hostel building on the Powai campus of the premier institute on Sunday (February 12). Reacting to Home Minister Amit Shah's statement on the restoration of statehood in Jammu and Kashmir, JKNC MP Farooq Abdullah on Monday said that they (the government) will give a truncated statehood after elections. Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that the restoration of statehood to Jammu and Kashmir will come up after assembly polls and that a call on the timing of elections will be taken by the Election Commission. "I had clearly stated that statehood will be restored in Jammu and Kashmir after elections. Process of preparation of voters' list is nearing completion in the UT. The Uttar Pradesh police on Tuesday said it has arrested a person who duped "hundreds of doctors" across several states to the tune of crores of rupees on the pretext of arranging foreign travel packages, officials said. The accused, who identified himself as a medical representative of a leading pharmaceutical company, was arrested by the Noida unit of the Cyber Crime team from West Bengal, officials said. Inspector Reeta Yadav, in-charge of the Noida cyber crime police station in Noida, said the case against Vishal Pandey (31) was lodged over a complaint by a Greater Noida-based doctor who claimed a fraud of Rs 18.72 lakh with him. “Pandey worked with Glenmark Pharmaceuticals as an FSO in Raipur, Chhattisgarh but lost his job in 2017 after demonetisation. He has an MBA degree and graduated from the Banaras Hindu University. After months of delay, a dozen wild cheetahs from South Africa will finally arrive around 12 noon on Saturday in Madhya Pradesh's Kuno National Park (KNP), where eight such felines were brought from Namibia last year, a wildlife expert associated with India's cheetah revival project said on Monday. These big cats - seven males and five females - will embark on journey to their new home thousands of miles away aboard an Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft from the OR Tambo International Airport, Gauteng, South Africa on Friday evening, the project participant and expert told PTI. He said the South African cheetahs will first arrive at the Gwalior Air Force base in Madhya Pradesh on Saturday morning and 30 minutes later they will be transported some 165km away to KNP in Sheopur district by IAF helicopters.
