Former Odisha MLA Ramamurthy Gomango was convicted on Saturday by a special court of the murder of his wife, which happened 27 years ago. The special MP/MLA court in Bhubaneswar held Gomango guilty under IPC Section 302 (murder) on the basis of the statements of 11 witnesses and 15 documents. He was also found guilty of destroying evidence under IPC Section 201. The sentence will be pronounced on Tuesday, public prosecutor Rashmi Ranjan Brahma told reporters. The half-burnt body of Sashirekha Gomango was found in the bathroom of the MLA's official residence in Bhubaneswar on September 28, 1995. She was pregnant at the time of her death, according to the police. Amid confusion over the Congress' stance on the Centre's Delhi ordinance, AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal told Rahul Gandhi to forget the differences and move forward together at the opposition meeting in Patna, AAP sources said on Saturday. Union Environment Minister Bhupender Yadav on Thursday said the Kuno National Park in Madhya Pradesh has enough prey base for the cheetahs living there and there is no plan as of now to shift the cats anywhere else. He, however, said the Gandhi Sagar wildlife sanctuary in northwestern Madhya Pradesh has been identified as an "alternative site" in case any problem emerges at Kuno in the future. "But there is no plan to shift the cheetahs anywhere else for now," Bhupender Yadav told a press conference where he listed the achievements of his ministry in the nine years of the government. He said the cheetahs are adapting to the weather and the habitat and establishing their territories and "we should give them time to do that". After three instances of subsidence and damage to houses in four years due to tunnelling work for the construction of a Metro line, Union Railways Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has assured the residents of Kolkata's Bowbazar area that their concerns are being taken into account.  Mr Vaishnaw today inspected the Howrah Maidan to Esplanade stretch of Kolkata's East-West Metro, which is slated to open to the public by the end of this year. After completing an inspection of Howrah Maidan station, the minister undertook a trolley inspection through a tunnel and reached Howrah station, which is going to be the deepest Metro station in India. This Metro station has been built 33 metres (108 feet) below the surface and has four underground levels. The minister also inspected an underwater tunnel which has been built 16 metres (52 feet) below the river Hooghly. The police on Tuesday rescued a four-day-old baby just hours after she was kidnapped from the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) in Maharashtra's Chandrapur city, an official said. The infant was rescued and the accused woman was arrested from Hinganghat in neighbouring Wardha district, he said. The accused got admitted to the maternity ward of the hospital on June 17 and got acquainted with a woman who had given birth to a girl and helped her, inspector SR Rajput of city police station said. The mothers were recuperating in ward no 15, while the babies were kept in the adjacent ward no 14. Around 6 am, the accused took the baby from the ward claiming that she was taking her to the mother for feeding, he said. A final-year student of Tripura University has lodged an FIR, alleging that she was sexually abused by an assistant professor of the varsity, police said on Tuesday. The alleged incident took place inside the campus on Monday, when the accused called the Sociology Department student for an oral examination, they said. Assistant Inspector General (AIG), Law and Order. Jyotishman Das Chowdhury said the police have registered a case of sexual abuse against the assistant professor. The woman, in her early 20s, claimed that the accused sexually harassed her instead of asking her questions related to the examination. मुंबई के साकीनाका इलाके में सोमवार दोपहर को एक व्यक्ति ने चलती ऑटो रिक्शा के अंदर एक महिला की कथित रूप से गला रेत कर हत्या कर दी और फिर इसी धारदार हथियार से खुद को भी घायल कर लिया. साकीनाका थाने के एक अधिकारी ने बताया कि घटना दत्त नगर के खैरानी रोड पर हुई. पुलिस के अनुसार दीपक बोरसे नामक शख्स ने चलते ऑटो रिक्शा में पंचशीला जामदार नाम की महिला का गला रेत दिया. उसने बचने के लिए गाड़ी से उतरने की कोशिश की लेकिन वह थोड़ी दूरी पर जाकर गिर पड़ी. बोरसे ने इसी धारदार हथियार से अपना गला काटकर अपनी जान देने की भी कोशिश की. अधिकारी ने बताया कि राहगीरों ने पुलिस को सूचित किया. दोनों को समीप के अस्पताल ले जाया गया जहां महिला को मृत घोषित कर दिया गया. आरोपी का उपचार किया जा रहा है.  उन्होंने बताया कि महिला और आरोपी एक-दूसरे को जानते थे और ऑटोरिक्शा में किसी बात को लेकर हुए झगड़े की वजह से यह घटना हुई. पुलिस अधिकारी ने बताया कि बोरसे के विरूद्ध हत्या का मामला दर्ज करने की प्रक्रिया जारी है. ये भी पढ़ें- US में बदले तीन राष्ट्रपति, लेकिन नहीं बदली PM मोदी से रिश्ते की गर्मजोशी - जाने...

Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Monday said the heads of state and government of 120 nations wanted Prime Minister Narendra Modi to lead them and become their voice on the global front. He was speaking at a Bharatiya Janata Party rally in Kalyan in neighbouring Thane district. "The heads or prime ministers of 120 countries passed a resolution asking PM Modi to lead them. They asked him to become their voice on the global front. This is the recognition our country's leader has received," he  said. However, Mr Fadnavis did not provide any details during his address about the resolution or the nations involved. A 25-year-old man died in Latur in Maharashtra after being beaten up a fortnight ago over a love affair, a police official said on Sunday. Baliram Magar of Ausa tehsil was called by a resident of his Bhada village for a chat on June 3 and was then beaten up by the latter and his family, the official said. "He died on Saturday night. After a video of the assault went viral on June 9, a probe began following registration of an attempt to murder case on June 10," he said. "Magar was beaten up over his relationship with a girl from the village. We have arrested five of the seven accused. They will be now be charged with murder," Assistant Inspector Appasaheb Dongare said.
