आईआईटी बॉम्बे के छात्र दर्शन सोलंकी की खुदकुशी के मामले ने आईआईटी जैसे संस्थानों में अनसूचित जाति, जनजाति के छात्रों के साथ अन्य वर्ग के छात्रों के व्यवहार को लेकर और साथ ही आईआईटी प्रबंधन की कार्यक्षमता पर भी सवाल उठाया है. इसे लेकर पूरे देश में आंदोलन चल रहा है. इसी क्रम में मुंबई के आजाद मैदान में भी दर्शन को न्याय दिलाने के लिए बड़ी संख्या में लोग जमा हुए. इस आंदोलन में दर्शन के  माता - पिता भी शामिल हुए.  एनडीटीवी से बातचीत में दर्शन के पिता रमेश सोलंकी ने कहा कि उनके बेटे ने खुदकुशी नही की है बल्कि उसकी हत्या की गई है. हालांकि पुलिस की अभी तक की जांच के मुताबिक दर्शन परीक्षा में एक पेपर खराब जाने से दुखी था. लेकिन दर्शन के पिता इस बात को मानने के लिए तैयार नहीं हैं. इस बीच मामले की गंभीरता को देखते हुए जांच के लिए क्राइम ब्रांच की SIT बना दी गई है. from NDTV India - Latest https://ift.tt/Y93Wek4 via IFTTT

Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Saturday said the government is not crazy to rush out to sell everything and the Opposition fully understands the meaning of divestment but would still say "you are selling that off". A two-storey house in Mau district belonging to the sons of jailed gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari was demolished as the map of the building was not approved by the authorities, police said here. Circle Officer Abhay Singh said the demolition of the house owned by Abbas and Umar Ansari began on Friday on orders from the district magistrate. It was completed a day later. "The land on which the house of Abbas and Umar Ansari was built belongs to someone else. Apart from this, the map of the house was also not passed by the authorities," the official said. The building was located out in the Jahangirabad locality under the Dakhin Tola police station area of the city. Union Law Minister Kiren Rijiju on Saturday said attempts were being made to tell the world that the Indian judiciary and the democracy were in crisis. Inaugurating a conference of the Centre's counsels in the Eastern states, Mr Rijiju said the wisdom of judges was beyond public scrutiny. "Indian judiciary cannot be questioned, especially the wisdom of judges cannot be put into public scrutiny," he said. "At times, calibrated attempts are being made from both inside and outside the country to tell the world that the Indian judiciary is in crisis. A message is being sent to the world that Indian democracy is in crisis. It is a deliberate attempt by some groups to malign the image of the country," he added. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Saturday lauded the Indore Municipal Corporation for starting an 'ambulance' service for trees. The civic body last week launched the service for taking care of roadside trees afflicted by pests or otherwise in need of attention. The ambulance has so far attended to 50 trees so far, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargav told PTI. "Prime Minister Narendra Modi rightly says that Indore marches ahead of time," Chief Minister Chouhan told reporters here. "Indore has come up with yet another innovation.... The Delhi High Court on Friday dismissed a plea challenging the withdrawal of notification of the Animal Welfare Board of India (AWBI) on the celebration of February 14 as 'Cow Hug Day.' Justice Prathiba M Singh refused to entertain the petition and said that the court cannot direct the people to celebrate February 14 as 'Cow Hug Day'. A 55-year-old clerk died after setting himself on fire in a government school in Rajasthan's Nagaur district, police said on Friday claiming he took the step over alleged harassment by the principal and other staff members. The clerk, Ramsukh Meghwal, immolated himself in the school in Pilwa area on Thursday. He succumbed to the burns on Friday, they said. Pilwa Station House Officer (SHO) Surajmal Chaudhary said the clerk, who suffered 80 per cent burns, was admitted to JLN Hospital in Ajmer on Thursday. He said Meghwal had set himself on fire by pouring petrol over himself on the school's premises. The clerk had accused the school's principal, Seema Chandel, and other staff members of harassing him.  A man was arrested for allegedly abusing and making obscene gestures at a woman after he hit her car from behind here on Wednesday, police said. The man, who was identified as Ansal Dixit (24), a resident of Delhi's Vasant Kunj, allegedly also threatened to kill the woman, they said. The woman, who works with a private bank, was headed to her office in her car with her driver when Dixit hit the vehicle from behind with his SUV at the Wazirabad traffic signal. Then, the accused stepped out of his car and started misbehaving with the complainant's driver, the police said. The Congress on Wednesday hit out at the government over the hike in price of LPG cylinders, saying if it comes to power at the Centre, it would end the "loot" by providing cylinders for domestic users under Rs 500. Cooking gas LPG price on Wednesday was hiked by Rs 50 per cylinder -- the first increase in rates in almost eight months -- that came within days of end of polling in three northeastern states and was sharply criticised by the Opposition. In Delhi, a 14.2-kg LPG cylinder now costs Rs 1,103, up from Rs 1,053, according to a price notification of state-owned fuel retailers. Apparently facing academic stress, a student allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling of a school hostel just before appearing for CBSE Class 12 board examination in the Union Territory of Dadra and Nagar Haveli and Daman & Diu, police said on Wednesday. Satyam Sharma, 18, a student of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Daman town of the Union Territory, ended his life on Tuesday morning, Daman police station in-charge Vishal Patel said. Preliminary investigation has revealed he took the extreme steps due to exam stress, he said. The teenager was found hanging from the ceiling of the dormitory of his school hostel before he was to appear for his chemistry exam, Mr Patel said. "He was to appear for CBSE Class 12 board exam for chemistry subject at a centre located at the Coast Guard school in Daman at 9 am on Tuesday. The Jharkhand High Court on Tuesday rejected the bail plea of Pankaj Mishra, the former political representative of Chief Minister Hemant Soren, in a money laundering case related to illegal mining. Mr Mishra was arrested in July last year by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). Justice Gautam Kumar Choudhary dismissed Mr Mishra's bail application after hearing arguments in the case. The ED had filed a charge sheet against Mr Mishra and his two aides -- Bachhu Yadav and Prem Prakash -- on September 16 last year before a special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Ranchi. "PMLA investigation revealed that Pankaj Mishra, who enjoys political clout, being the representative of the Chief Minister, MLA from Barhait, Sahibganj, Jharkhand controls the illegal mining businesses as well as inland ferry services in Sahibganj and its adjoining areas through his accomplices," the ED had alleged in a statement earlier. The 18 portfolios of the Delhi government handled by Manish Sisodia will be divided among two ministers of the Delhi government for now, sources have told NDTV. A couple was on Monday sentenced to life imprisonment by a court in Indore in Madhya Pradesh for killing their three-month-old daughter, who was born without an ear, and disposing of her body in a garbage dump. Pappu Rawal (50) and his wife Sangeeta Rawal (45) were convicted under section 302 of the Indian Penal Code for killing their child with a kitchen plier, a prosecution official said. The child's body was found wrapped in cloth in a garbage heap in Khajrana area here on March 16, 2016. The child, who was the second daughter of the couple, did not have an ear, due to which they disowned her and killed her, the official said. However, DNA tests established them as the biological parents and a probe found them guilty. Assistant District Public Prosecution Officer Avisarika Jain convinced the court about the couple's guilt through circumstantial and scientific evidence, the official said. A day after the CBI arrested Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on Monday said "many Sisodias" have been arrested in the country but people don't get to know about them. There is "terror" of Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), Enforcement Directorate (ED), and Income Tax department in the country, while the judiciary and Election Commission are under pressure, he claimed. Mr Sisodia was arrested by the CBI on Sunday evening in connection with alleged corruption in the formulation and implementation of the now-scrapped Delhi excise policy 2021-22.
