Police have started a probe after a private school in Sagar district was found to be in possession of a human foetus, an official said on Saturday. A member of the Madhya Pradesh Child Rights Commission has lodged a police complaint against the school, situated in Bina town, in this regard. MPCRC member Omkar Singh Thakur said that following a complaint, a two-member MPCRC committee on April 6 paid a surprise visit to the school and found that the biology laboratory had a human foetus kept in a jar. When asked how they got hold of it, the school management could not give a satisfactory answer, he claimed. While medical colleges have such preserved foetuses, permission is needed for other organisations for keeping them, Mr Thakur said. Bina police station in-charge Kamal Nigwal said a probe has been started on the basis of the report forwarded by the MPCRC, though no First Information Report has been registered yet. Kerala police on Friday began an investigation into a complaint filed by AICC general secretary K C Venugopal which said that hackers had illegally cloned his mobile number and made fraudulent calls with ulterior motives. Mr Venugopal had on Wednesday posted a copy of his complaint on Twitter, saying hackers were using caller ID spoofing to make spam calls from his cloned phone number. In his complaint filed with the state police chief, the senior Congress leader referred to instances where two persons allegedly received such illegal phone calls. The DGP then forwarded the complaint to the Kochi city police commissioner. Kochi City Police Commissioner K Sethu Raman told PTI that the district cyber cell had begun a probe based on Venugopal's complaint. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has seized a huge cache of cash, gold and drugs, and has arrested one person in connection with the Indo-Sri Lankan illegal drugs, arms trade and hawala racket case aimed at the revival of Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), the agency said on Friday. The anti-terror agency conducted searches on Thursday, at the Chennai residential and business premises of eight suspects in the case. During the searches, it seized a huge cache of cash, gold bars, digital devices (mobile phones, memory cards), drugs and documents, along with other incriminating material. The agency has also arrested one person during the raids. He has been identified as Ayyappan Nandhu. This took the number of total arrests in the Tamil Nadu case to 14. ISRO on Thursday said it had completed the final long-duration hot test of human-rated L110-G Vikas engine for the planned qualification duration of 240 seconds, marking a major milestone in the journey towards the launch of the Gaganyaan human spaceflight programme. The test was carried out at the ISRO Propulsion Complex (IPRC), Mahendragiri, Tamil Nadu. "With this test all the planned qualification tests of the engine are completed successfully," ISRO (Indian Space Research Organisation), the Bengaluru-headquartered national space agency said in a statement. The air-lit liquid core stage of the human-rated launch vehicle (LVM3-G) uses two L110-G Vikas engines in clustered configuration. The design and realisation of L110 stage for Gaganyaan was carried out at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), and assembly and integration and testing were done at IPRC. A court in Jharkhand's East Singhbhum district on Thursday sentenced a man to death for murdering his wife, two minor daughters and their private tutor inside his house in Kadma locality here two years ago. The man, who is in his early 40s, also raped the tutor and tried to kill his business partner who managed to flee. Additional District and Sessions Judge-IV Rajendra Kumar Sinha convicted Deepak Kumar, a fire brigade employee of a private company here, last week and pronounced the quantum of punishment on Thursday. He was sentenced under various IPC sections including 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 201 (causing disappearance of evidence of offence) and 376(1) (rape). The court also fined Kumar Rs 50,000 which would go to the family of the tutor. He killed his wife Bina Kumar, daughters Divya and Sandhi and the private tutor using a hammer on April 12, 2021. The Union Cabinet on Thursday approved the Indian Space Policy, 2023 under which roles and responsibilities of organisations such as ISRO, NewSpace India Limited and private sector entities have been laid down. The government had earlier opened up the space sector for the private sector to help boost development of the segment. "In brief, it will offer clarity in the role of the components set up (in the recent past)," Union minister Jitendra Singh told reporters here. He said the policy will aim to enhance the role of Department of Space, boost activities of Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) missions and give a larger participation of research, academia, startups and industry. The Gautam Buddh Nagar district administration has said it will launch a crackdown on real estate defaulters from Friday, noting that over Rs 500 crore are to be recovered from developers against whom the Uttar Pradesh real estate authority has issued notices. District Magistrate Manish Kumar Verma, who took charge last month, said " munaadi " (beat of drum) will be carried out against the builders over the next two days for the recovery of dues towards the Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (UP RERA). After this, the defaulters would be further "named and shamed" and coercive action -- including attachment and auction of their properties -- will follow in accordance with the law, Mr Verma told reporters. A marine commando from the Indian Navy's special forces died during a training exercise on Wednesday in West Bengal's Panagarh. People familiar with the matter said Chandaka Govind died while carrying out a para jump from an aircraft. In a tweet, the Indian Navy said Govind, a petty officer, lost his life while undergoing training exercise. The people cited above said Govind was part of the Indian Navy's elite special forces called Marine Commando Force (Marcos). India has slammed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation or OIC for its statement on Ram Navami violence, saying it is "one more example of their communal mindset and anti-India agenda". "OIC only does its reputation damage by being consistently manipulated by anti-India forces," said foreign ministry spokesperson Arindam Bagchi, condemning its statement alleging that the Muslim community was targetted in several states during Ram Navami celebrations. The general secretariat of the OIC had issued a statement expressing deep concern at "acts of violence and vandalism targeting (the) Muslim community in several states in India during the Ram Navami processions". Three sanitation workers died after allegedly inhaling poisonous gases while cleaning a drainage line without any safety gear in Gujarat's Bharuch district on Tuesday, police said. Two more workers were hospitalised after they breathed in toxic gases in their attempt to pull their colleagues from the sewer at Dahej village in the district, said RB Vasava, social welfare officer. Police are on the lookout for the contractor who had engaged the labourers to clear the drainage line. The contractor is yet to be identified, a police official said. “Three workers who had entered the sewer died. Two others who tried to help the trio come out were hospitalised after inhaling poisonous gases. We have launched a probe from our side to find out who is responsible for the deaths,” said Vasava. Three senior jail superintendents were suspended after "objectionable material" was found in their prisons during a search conducted on April 1, an official said on Tuesday. Police, however, did not immediately identify the "objectionable material". Shashikant Singh, senior jail superintendent of Naini Central Prison in Prayagraj; Avinash Gautam, senior jail superintendent of Banda district prison; and Rajeev Shukla, senior jail superintendent of Bareilly district prison, were suspended for administrative laxity after "objectionable material" was found in their prisons on April 1, a jail department official told PTI. The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will distribute housing plots to 48,218 people of economically weaker sections from Krishna and Guntur districts, said an official on Monday. Spread across six villages and 1,135 acres, these plots will be doled out to those who do not own houses in Mandadam, Inavolu, Krishnayapalem, Navuluru, Kuragallu and Nidamanuru. “The state government has made amendments to the CRDA Act to facilitate allotment of house sites to the poor. According to Section 41(3), (4) of the CRDA Act, the government has created R5 zone and brought various lands under its jurisdiction,” said the official in a statement. बीते वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 में शुद्ध प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह संशोधित बजट अनुमान से अधिक यानी 16.61 लाख करोड़ रुपये रहा है. वित्त मंत्रालय ने सोमवार को वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 के लिए कर संग्रह के अस्थायी आंकड़े जारी करते हुए कहा कि हाल ही में समाप्त वित्त वर्ष में प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह 16.61 लाख करोड़ रुपये रहा है, जबकि इसका बजट अनुमान 14.20 लाख करोड़ रुपये था. बजट अनुमान को बाद में संशोधित कर 16.50 लाख करोड़ रुपये कर दिया गया था. इस तरह शुद्ध प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह संशोधित अनुमान से 0.69 प्रतिशत अधिक रहा.  वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 की तुलना में शुद्ध प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह 17.63 प्रतिशत बढ़ा है. एक साल पहले यह 14.12 लाख करोड़ रुपये था.  वित्त मंत्रालय के मुताबिक, वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 में सकल कॉरपोरेट कर संग्रह एक साल पहले की तुलना में 16.91 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 10.04 लाख करोड़ रुपये हो गया.  समाप्त वित्त वर्ष में सकल व्यक्तिगत आयकर संग्रह (एसटीटी समेत) 9.60 लाख करोड़ रुपये रहा. इस तरह इसमें वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 के 7.73 लाख करोड़ रुपये की तुलना में 24.23 प्रतिशत वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है.  वित्त वर्ष 2022-...
