दिल्‍ली की बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को मिलने वाली सब्सिडी का पहली बार ऑडिट होगा. इसके लिए दिल्ली के उपराज्यपाल ने आदेश जारी कर दिए हैं. इसके तहत दिल्ली बिजली नियामक आयोग (DERC) को निर्देश दिए गए हैं कि साल 2016-17 से लेकर 2021-22 तक दिल्ली सरकार ने जो पैसा सब्सिडी के तौर पर दिल्ली की तीन बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को जारी किया गया है, उसका ऑडिट नियंत्रक एवं महालेखापरीक्षक (सीएजी) के पैनल में शामिल लेखा-परीक्षकों के माध्यम से करवाया जाए. ऑडिट में यह सुनिश्चित किया जाएगा कि सब्सिडी का पैसा सही लाभार्थी तक पारदर्शी और बेहतर तरीके से पहुंचे.  दिल्ली सरकार के विशेष सचिव (बिजली) रवि धवन की तरफ से जारी आदेश में कहा गया कि विद्युत अधिनियम, 2003 की धारा 108 द्वारा प्रदत्त शक्तियों का प्रयोग करते हुए उपराज्यपाल ने दिल्ली विद्युत नियामक आयोग को सीएजी पैनल में शामिल लेखा-परीक्षकों के माध्यम से विशेष 'ऑडिट' करने का निर्देश दिया है.  कुल 13,549 करोड़ रुपये इन 6 सालों के दौरान दिल्ली सरकार ने बिजली वितरण कंपनियों को सब्सिडी के तौर पर जारी किए थे. दिल्ली में घरेलू उपभोक्ताओं को 200 यून...

Heatwave conditions continued unabated as temperature hovered in the range of 40 to 44 degrees Celsius over most parts of the country on Tuesday, with Hamirpur and Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh sizzling at 44.2 degrees Celsius. Delhi's primary weather station, the Safdarjung Observatory, registered a maximum temperature of 40.4 degrees Celsius, four notches higher than normal. This is the fourth consecutive day that the maximum temperature settled above 40 degrees Celsius here. The Pusa and Pitampura areas experienced heat wave conditions with maximum temperatures settling at 41.6 degrees to 41.9 degrees Celsius, respectively. India celebrated a key milestone in its G20 presidency on Monday with the hosting of the 100th meeting of the grouping, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said. It said the 100 G-20 meetings have been held in 41 cities, covering 28 states and union territories of India. "India's G20 presidency, in the build-up to the New Delhi leaders' summit on September 9 and 10, has received immense support from G20 members and guest countries for its inclusive, ambitious, action-oriented and decisive agenda," the MEA said. "The wide-ranging, large-scale and enthusiastic participation in India's G20 meetings is a testimony to the G20 members and invitees coming together under India's presidency to collectively address contemporary global challenges," it said in a statement. Gujarat government on Monday opposed the bail pleas of some convicts, who are sentenced to life imprisonment, and reiterated that the 2002 Godhra train coach-burning case was involved in serious offences as the convicts pelted stones and bolted the door of the train leading to the death of around 58 people. Solicitor General Tushar Mehta submitted before the top court that it is just not a case of stone pelting but the accused had bolted the door of the train from outside and then pelted stones.
