A 28-year-old engineer of a private company died on Monday allegedly after a "temporary lift" of an under-construction building crashed in Greater Noida, police officials said.
The incident took place around 4.15 pm in Sector 150, under Knowledge Park police station limits, during the process to remove a temporary lift (used for transporting construction material) from the 25th floor-height of one of the residential towers, a senior official said.
"The deceased has been identified as 28-year-old Ritik Rathore, a native of Firozabad district. He had come to remove the temporary lift and during the process, the supporting system could not bear the load of the lift, which crashed on the ground," Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (Greater Noida) Dinesh Kumar Singh said.
"Rathore suffered severe injuries and was rushed to a private hospital but he did not survive," Mr Singh said, adding other legal proceedings in the case were being carried out.
Meanwhile, taking cognisance of the matter, Police Commissioner Laxmi Singh ordered that an FIR be lodged in the case and those responsible for the episode be arrested.
According to an official, the temporary lift was installed for a one year period at the site and after the completion of the tenure, it was being removed by the service provider company.
A full-service proper lift inside the building has been installed, the official added.
