छत्तीसगढ़ विधानसभा चुनाव : राजनीतिक दल आदिवासी मतों को साधने की कोशिश में

छत्तीसगढ़ (Chhattisgarh) में विधानसभा चुनाव होने हैं और सरकार बनाने में आदिवासी मतदाताओं की महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका को देखते हुए राज्य के राजनीतिक दलों ने आदिवासी मतदाताओं को अपने पक्ष में करने की कोशिश शुरू कर दी है. छत्तीसगढ़ में माना जाता है कि लगभग 32 फीसदी जनसंख्या वाले आदिवासी समुदाय के आशीर्वाद के बगैर राज्य में सरकार बनाना मुश्किल है. राज्य में अब तक हुए विधानसभा चुनाव में जिस भी दल को आदिवासियों का साथ मिला है,  उसे सत्ता मिली है. 2018 के चुनाव में आदिवासी सीटों पर हार का सामना करने वाली भाजपा इस बार के चुनाव में आदिवासियों का समर्थन पाने की कोशिश में है. 

चुनाव विशेषज्ञों के मुताबिक, आदिवासी क्षेत्र में प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी, केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री अमित शाह और पार्टी प्रमुख जेपी नड्डा की हालिया रैलियां और आदिवासी इलाकों से पार्टी की दो परिवर्तन यात्राओं की शुरूआत को आदिवासियों को लुभाने के लिए भाजपा के प्रयास के रूप में देखा जा रहा है. 

90 सदस्यीय छत्तीसगढ़ विधानसभा में 29 सीटें अनुसूचित जनजाति वर्ग के लिए आरक्षित हैं. 

वर्ष 2018 के चुनाव में कांग्रेस ने आदिवासी वर्ग के लिए आरक्षित सीटों में से 25 सीटें जीती थीं और सरकार बनाई थी. पार्टी को उम्मीद है कि सरकार की योजनाओं के कारण उसे एक बार फिर आदिवासियों का समर्थन हासिल होगा. 

चुनाव विश्लेषक आर कृष्णा दास कहते हैं, ''आदिवासी मतदाता राज्य में सरकार बनाने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाते हैं. वर्ष 2000 में राज्य बनने के बाद 2003 में छत्तीसगढ़ में हुए पहले चुनाव में भाजपा उन आदिवासियों के बीच गहरी पैठ बनाने में कामयाब रही जो कभी कांग्रेस के कट्टर समर्थक माने जाते थे, लेकिन अगले चुनावों में भाजपा उन पर पकड़ खोती गई.''

दास ने कहा, ''सत्ता विरोधी लहर के अलावा, भाजपा के शीर्ष आदिवासी नेताओं और उनके क्षेत्र के स्थानीय पार्टी कार्यकर्ताओं के बीच समन्वय की कमी तथा लंबे समय से चले आ रहे वामपंथी उग्रवाद के कारण पार्टी को आदिवासी क्षेत्र में परेशानी का सामना करना पड़ा.''

राज्य में वर्ष 2003 में हुए पहले विधानसभा चुनाव के दौरान 90 सदस्यीय सदन में 34 सीटें अनुसूचित जनजाति (एसटी) वर्ग के लिए आरक्षित थीं. भाजपा ने तत्कालीन मुख्यमंत्री अजीत जोगी के नेतृत्व वाली कांग्रेस सरकार को हराकर इनमें से 25 सीटें जीती थीं. भाजपा को तब 50 सीटें मिली थी. वहीं कांग्रेस को नौ आदिवासी सीटों पर जीत मिली थी. 

राज्य में परिसीमन के बाद आदिवासी सीटों की संख्या 29 हो गई. 2008 के विधानसभा चुनाव में भाजपा ने 29 में से 19 सीटें जीती और एक बार फिर 50 सीटें जीतकर सरकार बनाई. इस चुनाव में कांग्रेस को 10 आदिवासी सीटों पर जीत मिली थी. 

बाद में 2013 के विधानसभा चुनाव में आदिवासी वोट कांग्रेस के पाले में चले गए और कांग्रेस को 29 आदिवासी सीटों में से 18 पर जीत मिली. हालांकि इसके बाद भी कांग्रेस सरकार नहीं बना सकी. कांग्रेस की संख्या 39 तक ही सीमित रहीं और भाजपा ने 11 आदिवासी सीटें जीतकर 49 विधायकों के साथ तीसरी बार सरकार बनाई. 

2018 में कांग्रेस ने रमन सिंह के नेतृत्व वाली भाजपा सरकार के 15 साल के शासन को समाप्त करते हुए 90 सदस्यीय विधानसभा में 68 सीटें जीतकर शानदार जीत दर्ज की. भाजपा को 15 सीटें, जेसीसी (जे) और बसपा को क्रमशः पांच और दो सीटें मिलीं. 

2018 में 29 अजजा सीटों में से कांग्रेस ने 25, भाजपा ने तीन और जेसीसी (जे) ने एक सीट जीतीं. बाद में कांग्रेस ने उपचुनावों में दो और अजजा आरक्षित सीट-दंतेवाड़ा और मरवाही जीत ली. 

दास ने कहा कि राज्य में सत्ता में वापस आने के लिए भाजपा आदिवासी सीटों पर ध्यान केंद्रित कर रही है और इस बार अपने पुराने नेताओं को मैदान में उतारा है. 

भाजपा ने अब तक 86 सीटों पर अपने उम्मीदवार उतारे हैं, जिनमें सभी 29 एसटी सीटें भी शामिल हैं. राज्य के छह पूर्व मंत्री भाजपा के प्रमुख उम्मीदवारों में से हैं जिनमें एक मौजूदा विधायक, दो वर्तमान लोकसभा सांसद- जिनमें एक केंद्रीय मंत्री, एक पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्री, तीन पूर्व विधायक, एक पूर्व आईएएस अधिकारी हैं जो हाल ही में अपनी सेवा छोड़कर भाजपा में शामिल हुए हैं. 

छत्तीसगढ़ में जैसे-जैसे चुनाव नजदीक आ रहा है भाजपा के स्टार प्रचारकों ने राज्य के आदिवासी बहुल इलाकों का दौरा करना शुरू कर दिया है. प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी और अमित शाह ने इस महीने बस्तर क्षेत्र में पार्टी की रैलियों को संबोधित किया. वहीं पार्टी के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष जेपी नड्डा ने पिछले महीने आदिवासी बहुल जशपुर में भाजपा की दूसरी परिवर्तन यात्रा को हरी झंडी दिखाई थी. पार्टी की पहली परिवर्तन यात्रा पिछले महीने आदिवासी बहुल दंतेवाड़ा जिले से निकाली गई थी. 

भाजपा के वरिष्ठ नेता और पूर्व मंत्री केदार कश्यप ने कहा , ''कांग्रेस ने आदिवासियों के आरक्षण को खत्म करने की कोशिश की और लगभग एक साल तक सरकारी नौकरियों में भर्ती और संस्थानों में प्रवेश बंद रहा. बस्तर और सरगुजा आदिवासी संभागों में सरकारी नौकरियों में भर्ती में आदिवासियों को प्राथमिकता देने का प्रावधान था, लेकिन 2018 के बाद कांग्रेस ने इस प्रावधान को रद्द कर दिया.. ये सभी मुद्दे भाजपा द्वारा उठाए जा रहे हैं.''

जब कश्यप से पूछा गया कि पार्टी कितनी आदिवासी सीटों पर जीत हासिल कर सकती है तब उन्होंने कहा, ''आदिवासियों में कांग्रेस सरकार के खिलाफ भारी आक्रोश है. हम बस्तर की सभी 12 सीटें और सरगुजा संभाग की 14 सीटें जीतेंगे. आदिवासियों को समझ आ गया है कि कांग्रेस सरकार ने उन्हें धोखा दिया है.''

आदिवासियों के लिए आरक्षित 29 सीटों में से 11 बस्तर संभाग में है तथा सरगुजा संभाग में नौ आदिवासी आरक्षित सीटें हैं. कश्यप को बस्तर संभाग में उनकी पारंपरिक नारायणपुर सीट (एसटी) से मैदान में उतारा गया है. 

चुनावों से पहले भाजपा द्वारा आदिवासी इलाकों में धर्म परिवर्तन के मुद्दे को उछाले जाने के बारे में कश्यप ने कहा, ''यह एक सामाजिक मुद्दा है और हम इस तरह के कृत्य का विरोध करते हैं… हम इस मुद्दे को चुनाव में लाभ के रूप में नहीं देखते हैं.''

उन्होंने यह भी आरोप लगाया कि कांग्रेस सरकार में धर्मांतरण बढ़ रहा है. 

पिछले सप्ताह एक साक्षात्कार में मुख्यमंत्री भूपेश बघेल ने भरोसा जताया था कि उनकी सरकार ने आदिवासियों के लिए कई योजनाएं चलाई हैं जिसके कारण इस चुनाव में पिछली बार की तुलना में अधिक आदिवासी सीटों पर जीत मिलेगी. 

सत्ताधारी दल कांग्रेस ने सभी 90 सीटों पर उम्मीदवारों की घोषणा कर दी है. प्रदेश अध्यक्ष दीपक बैज, मंत्री कवासी लखमा, अनिला भेड़िया और मोहन मरकाम इस चुनाव में कांग्रेस के प्रमुख आदिवासी चेहरों में से हैं. 

आदिवासी समूहों का एक प्रमुख संगठन सर्व आदिवासी समाज ने ‘हमर राज' पार्टी बनाई है जिसने 19 उम्मीदवारों की घोषणा की है. पार्टी ने पहले आदिवासी समुदाय के लिए आरक्षित सभी 29 सीटों सहित 50 सीटों पर उम्मीदवार उतारने की घोषणा की थी, लेकिन अब वह 60-70 सीटों पर चुनाव लड़ने पर विचार कर रही है. 

दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविंद केजरीवाल के नेतृत्व वाली आम आदमी पार्टी (आप) भी छत्तीसगढ़ में दूसरी बार अपनी किस्मत आजमा रही है. आप ने अब तक 45 सीटों पर उम्मीदवारों के नाम जारी कर दिया है. 2018 के विधानसभा चुनावों में आप ने कुल 90 सीटों में से 85 पर उम्मीदवार उतारे थे, लेकिन राज्य में अपना खाता खोलने में विफल रही. 

राज्य में सात और 17 नवंबर को दो चरणों में मतदान होगा. पहले चरण में 12 आदिवासी सीटों समेत 20 विधानसभा क्षेत्रों के लिए तथा दूसरे चरण में 17 आदिवासी सीटों समेत 70 सीटों के लिए मतदान होगा.

2 Dead In Jharkhand As Truck On Way To Durga Immersion Falls On People

Two persons were killed and four others suffered injuries on Tuesday when a truck fell on the people who were in a procession for immersion of the idol of goddess Durga in Jharkhand's Jamshedpur city on Tuesday evening, Health Minister Banna Gupta said.

The incident occurred at Bodhanwala ghat under Bistupur police station when the truck was negotiating a slope.

Two persons died in Tata Main Hospital where four other injured are under treatment, the health minister said in a statement issued after visiting the healthcare facility.

The condition of two of the injured is stated to be serious.

All the victims were members of the Kitadih Puja Committee in Bagbera area here, police said adding that they were in the immersion procession.

Gupta asked East Singhbhum District Civil Surgeon Dr Jujhar Majhi and the hospital authorities to ensure proper treatment of the injured.

Chief Minister Hemant Soren condoled the death of the two persons during the immersion of the idols.

“May God grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved family members to bear this grief. The district administration is providing medical aid to the injured people. I wish speedy recovery to all the injured.” The district administration appealed to the devotees to take care of their safety on a priority basis during the immersion.

A huge crowd thronged the roads of Steel City here to witness immersion processions taken out by over 200 community Durga puja committees.

Immersion of idols is underway in different ghats amid tight security. While divers were engaged in ghats as a precautionary measure, the police are using drones to keep a vigil on miscreants.

"Committed To Issuing Reservation To Maratha Community": Devendra Fadnavis

The Maharashtra government is committed to granting reservation to the Maratha community but will have to ensure that the allocation stands the legal and constitutional scrutiny, Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said on Monday. Fadnavis' assurance comes on the eve of the expiry of an ultimatum given by activist Manoj Jarange to the government for declaring a quota for Marathas under the OBC category.

The senior BJP leader also said a hurried decision on granting a quota in education and government jobs may be struck down by the Supreme Court.

"Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has stressed that the government wants to give the reservation to the Maratha community which will pass the legal and constitutional tests. Suppose a decision to award reservation in education and government jobs is taken hurriedly, in that case, the court will strike it down, and the state will face the criticism of cheating the community," Fadnavis told reporters in Nagpur.

When asked about the demand of the Maratha Kranti Morcha for restructuring the state Backward Classes Commission, he said CM Shinde will definitely take a decision on this front.

If some vacancies are to be filled, we will do it, he added.

"In the past, our government had given the reservation (to Marathas) that was upheld by the Bombay High Court. Maharashtra was the only state after Tamil Nadu where the HC had upheld the reservation granted by the state," Fadnavis said.

The former chief minister said the Supreme Court never issued a stay order on the reservation given to the Maratha community when the BJP-led government was in power in Maharashtra (from 2014 to 2019).

"But I do not want to indulge in politics over what happened later (when Uddhav Thackeray-led MVA was at the helm from November 2019 to June 2022). Our government is committed to issuing the reservation to the Maratha community. We will get it done," Fadnavis added.

A day earlier, Manoj Jarange had said he would launch a fast-unto-death protest from October 25 if the government fails to grant quota to the Maratha community by Tuesday.

Jarange also said the Maratha community would not let political leaders, including MPs and MLAs, enter villages across the state until the reservation demand is met.

The Maratha quota issue took centre stage in Maharashtra politics after some people supporting Jarange during his hunger strike protest in September were allegedly lathi-charged by police at Antarwali Sarati village in Jalna district.

Hotel Owner, 8-Year-Old Son, Stabbed To Death In Their Delhi House

A hotel owner in his 30s and his eight-year-old son were stabbed to death in their sleep in their house in central Delhi's Paharganj area, police said on Saturday.

The body of the two was discovered Saturday afternoon when the hotel owner's wife and daughter came to check on them failing to get a response after several calls on the man's mobile phone, police said.

The victims were identified as Anuj Singh and his son Raunak.

"Their bodies were discovered on the first floor of the building, where Anuj used to stay with his family. His neck was slit and there were multiple stab wounds on his body. The body was lying on the bed," a police officer said.

His son was lying on the floor in a pool of blood, he said.

The house was ransacked and some valuables were suspected to be missing, the officer said.

DCP (Central) SK Sain said a case of murder is registered at Nabi Karim Police Station and an investigation has been launched into the killings.

"A man from Muzaffarpur, Bihar, identified as Sonu, who was hired as a hotel staff, is our prime suspect as he was staying on the second floor of the building and has been missing since morning," Sain said.

The suspect has also taken away the mobile phone and DVR of the CCTV installed in the building, police said.

Police said Anuj had recently bought a house in Dwarka which he often used to visit.

On Friday too, Anuj along with his mother, wife, and two children had gone to their new house for some prayers. His mother and wife stayed back, he and his son returned.

"It is suspected that Anuj and his son were attacked while both were sleeping. Teams have been formed to nab the suspect," the officer said.

"अब यह बच्चा मेरे लिए सब कुछ है" : नीतीश ने सत्ता की बागडोर तेजस्वी को सौंपने का फिर दिया संकेत

बिहार के मुख्यमंत्री नीतीश कुमार (Nitish Kumar) ने सत्ता की बागडोर राज्य के उप मुख्यमंत्री तेजस्वी यादव को सौंपने का शनिवार को एक बार फिर संकेत दिया है. जद (यू) नेता कुमार ने पिछले साल कहा था कि जब बिहार में 2025 में अगला विधानसभा चुनाव होगा, तो राष्ट्रीय जनता दल (राजद) के युवा नेता राज्य में सत्तारूढ़ महागठबंधन का 'नेतृत्व' करेंगे. इससे जद (यू) में खलबली मच गई थी और संसदीय बोर्ड के प्रमुख उपेन्द्र कुशवाहा ने यह आरोप लगाते हुए इस्तीफा दे दिया था कि मुख्यमंत्री कुमार ने गठबंधन करते हुए अपने कट्टर प्रतिद्वंद्वी एवं राजद प्रमुख लालू प्रसाद के साथ एक 'सौदा' किया है.

भाजपा नेताओं के साथ 'व्यक्तिगत संबंध' संबंधी हालिया टिप्पणी के मद्देनजर उनके एक बार फिर से पलटी मारने को लेकर जब अटकलें लगने लगीं, तो कुमार ने इसका जोरदार खंडन किया है. तेजस्वी यादव की मौजूदगी में पत्रकारों से बात करते हुए कुमार ने उनके (यादव) कंधे पर हाथ रखा और कहा, 'अब यह बच्चा मेरे लिए सब कुछ है.' यह इशारा राज्य के राजनीतिक हलकों में चर्चा का विषय बन गया. 

जब पत्रकारों ने प्रदेश कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष अखिलेश प्रसाद सिंह से इस बारे में प्रतिक्रिया मांगी तो उन्होंने कहा, 'मुझे नहीं लगता कि मुख्यमंत्री ने जो कहा है, उसमें कोई आश्चर्य की बात है.'

उन्होंने कहा, 'कृपया याद रखें कि मुख्यमंत्री ने अतीत में यह स्पष्ट किया है कि वह चाहेंगे कि तेजस्वी अगले चुनावों में नेतृत्व करें. युवा नेता 2020 में पहले ही अपनी क्षमता साबित कर चुके हैं, जब उन्होंने प्रचार अभियान का नेतृत्व किया था और महागठबंधन जीत के काफी करीब पहुंच गया था.''

हालांकि, भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) की बिहार इकाई के अध्यक्ष सम्राट चौधरी ने दावा करते हुए कहा, ‘‘मैं नीतीश कुमार से कई साल छोटा हूं. मैं भी उनके सामने बच्चा हूं. इसलिए अगर वह तेजस्वी को बच्चा कहते हैं, तो कोई दिक्कत नहीं है, लेकिन जो लोग सोचते हैं कि यह उत्तराधिकार का संकेत है, उन्हें याद रखना चाहिए कि यह बिहार के लोगों को तय करना है. जनता ने अगली बार भाजपा सरकार चुनने का मन बना लिया है, क्योंकि लोग लालू और नीतीश को बहुत देख चुके हैं.''

NaMo Bharat Ridership Likely To Cross 10,000 Mark On First Day

Services on a priority section of India's first Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) corridor began on Saturday and the ridership is expected to cross the 10,000-mark on day one, a senior official of the NCRTC said.

The much-anticipated commencement of commercial operations on the 17-km section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS corridor began amid excitement among passengers.

The inaugural 'Namo Bharat' train journey kicked off at 6 am, and the services received an "overwhelming response" from commuters, some of whom had arrived as early as 4.30 am, eager to be a part of this historic journey, even from nearby areas like Muradnagar and from far-off areas in Delhi and Uttar Pradesh, a senior official of the NCRTC said.

Vinay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC) also took a ride on the inaugural day of the 'Namo Bharat' train services.

He welcomed the first set of passengers of India's first 'Namo Bharat' train in the morning, and also interacted with them at platforms and in coaches, officials said.

The first set of passengers have also been acknowledged as the 'First Rider' and a certificate been provided, they said.

'Namo Bharat' trains are equipped with hi-tech features and a number of passenger amenities.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday inaugurated this section of the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor by unveiling a plaque at its Sahibabad station and also took a ride in a train.

Passenger services will go on till 11 pm, and October 21 being a weekend, the numbers are expected to swell further till the end of revenue services, the officials said.

It is expected that the 'Namo Bharat' train ridership can "easily cross the 10,000-mark on the very first day of the services, as per the last update," the NCRTC said in a statement in the evening.

Since morning, passengers were excited and some of them even danced in the aisles inside coaches, expressing their sheer joy and excitement of being the riders of India's first 'Namo Bharat' train. Families and friends also had gathered, clicked pictures, took selfies, and captured videos, all eager to be a part of this historic moment, the NCRTC officials said.

India's first semi-high-speed regional rail service seeks to redefine travel in the region with swift speed and latest technology.

The RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system with a design speed of 180 kmph, and operational speed potential of 160 kmph.

The priority section, between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot, has five stations -- Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot. The segment from Duhai to Duhai Depot is a spur from the main corridor.

Travellers from all walks of life including women, senior citizens, and children were among the first set of passengers, the NCRTC said.

"More crowd was seen at Sahibabad and Duhai Depot stations, and besides those who came just to experience the ride, many office-goers were also among the passengers on day one. A family came with many of their members, old and young, all the way from Kailash Colony in Delhi to take a ride from Sahibabad station," a senior official of the NCRTC said.

The NCRTC has been tasked to oversee the construction of India's first RRTS, between Delhi and Meerut.

The entire 82.15 km Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS is targeted to be operational by June 2025.

Every 'Namo Bharat' train has six coaches, including a premium coach. One coach in every train is reserved for women and it is the coach next to the premium coach.

Also, there are reserved seats for women, specially-abled, and senior citizens in other coaches.

Premium coaches have a seat with a different colour code, a provision for installing a vending machine in future, besides a host of additional commuter-centric features like reclining seats, coat hooks, magazine holders and footrests.

Entry to premium-class coach is through a gated premium lounge at platforms. Every lounge has cushioned seats and a vending machine facility.

People can commute between Sahibabad and Duhai Depot stations on this line in about 12 minutes, officials said.

A one-way journey from Sahibabad to Duhai Depot station on the priority section of this RRTS corridor will cost Rs 50, while the fare for the same route will be Rs 100 in a premium-class coach.

To provide last-mile connectivity to passengers, the NCRTC has ensured availability of electric auto-rickshaws under RRTS feeder services, by roping in service providers stations, the statement.

The DTC has also started an AC electric bus service from Anand Vihar to Sahibabad station with a frequency of 20 minutes. According to the schedule, the first AC electric bus will depart from Anand Vihar ISBT at 6.20 am, while the last one do so at 9.35 pm. From Sahibabad it will be available from 7.05 am to 10.20 pm, it added.

More than 2,000 downloads of the RRTS Connect App took place on day one of passenger operations on the priority section of India's first RRTS corridor, the NCRTC said.

"Denied Ticket As State Chief Has Grudge Against Me": Rajasthan BJP MLA

BJP MLA from Chittorgarh Chandrabhan Singh on Saturday alleged that he was denied a party ticket because of the party's state president CP Joshi's grudges against him since their student days.

He said his being overlooked would make party face consequences in the entire division as he served the people for 10 years with full honesty.

"This is a local dispute. I was an ABVP worker from here and CP Joshi was in NSUI. This fight has been going on since then. He also became the President and Vice President of NSUI. Since that time the feud in our college has been going on.

"After this, fights within the Panchayat Committee continued. After this, CP Joshi became the state president of the BJP. Since then he has a grudge against me," Singh told reporters.

Singh earlier represented the Chittorgarh seat in 2013 and 2018 whereas CP Joshi is BJP MP from Chittorgarh parliamentary constituency.

The saffron party has fielded Narpat Singh Rajvi from the Chittorgarh assembly seat in an attempt to pacify him for a refusal for a ticket from the Vidhyadhar Nagar seat in Jaipur where Diya Kumari has been declared a candidate.

Rajvi, a five-time MLA, and the son-in-law of former vice president Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, will be contesting again from Chittorgarh after 15 years.

Chandrabhan Singh and his supporters raised slogans against CP Joshi in Chittorgarh and also burned his posters. He also made a post on X raising the same matter.

"Your Chandrabhan will once again live up to your trust. Chittorgarh assembly constituency is my family and the bright future of the family is my only concern," he wrote on X.

Singh said he will have a meeting with the party workers to discuss the issue on Sunday.

"I will sit with the workers and talk about it tomorrow. Whatever the workers say, I will work keeping in mind their feelings," Singh said.

Rajvi became the MLA from the Chittorgarh assembly seat in 1993 defeating Nirmala Shaktawat of Congress. In 1998, Surendra Singh Jadawat of Congress defeated him for the post of MLA.

In 2003, Rajvi once again contested the assembly elections from Chittorgarh and wrested back the seat from Surendra Singh Jadawat.
