नई दिल्ली: विधि आयोग के अध्यक्ष न्यायमूर्ति (सेवानिवृत्त) ऋतु राज अवस्थी ने बुधवार को कहा कि एक साथ चुनाव के मुद्दे पर काम अब भी जारी है और इस संबंध में रिपोर्ट को अंतिम रूप देने के लिए कोई समयसीमा नहीं दी गई है. उन्होंने यह भी कहा कि यौन अपराधों से बच्चों का संरक्षण (पॉक्सो) अधिनियम और ऑनलाइन प्राथमिकी सबंधी रिपोर्ट को अंतिम रूप देकर कानून मंत्रालय को भेज दिया गया है. कर्नाटक उच्च न्यायालय के मुख्य न्यायाधीश रहे न्यायमूर्ति (सेवानिवृत्त) अवस्थी ने यहां संवाददाताओं से कहा, “एक साथ चुनावों पर अब भी कुछ काम चल रहा है. हमने रिपोर्ट को अंतिम रूप नहीं दिया है. इसे अंतिम रूप देने के लिए कोई समयसीमा नहीं है.” प्रक्रिया के अनुसार, विधि आयोग की सभी रिपोर्ट केंद्रीय कानून मंत्रालय को सौंपी जाती है, जो उन्हें संबंधित मंत्रालयों को भेज देता है. एक साथ चुनाव का मुद्दा वर्षों से विधि आयोग के पास लंबित है. पिछले विधि आयोग ने लोकसभा और विधानसभा चुनाव एक साथ कराने के लिए तीन विकल्प सुझाए थे, लेकिन कहा था कि कई बिंदुओं पर विचार किया जाना बाकी है. उसने अपनी मसौदा रिपोर्ट के साथ जारी एक सार्वजनिक अपील...

A man in Odisha's Kendrapara district on Tuesday alleged that his newborn son was swapped with a girl child in a government hospital, prompting the authorities to order an investigation into the complaint. The man and his family refused to accept the girl child and demanded a DNA test to ascertain her biological parents. The hospital authorities said that the attendant concerned probably had given the information wrong to the family by mistake. The Nagpur bench of the Bombay High Court on Tuesday granted a 28-day furlough to gangster Arun Gawli, who is serving a life sentence in the Central jail in Nagpur. Furlough is a set period of time when a prisoner is allowed to leave a prison. A division bench of Justice Nitin Sambre and Valmiki Menezes directed the release of Gawli on furlough for 28 days after the gangster approached the HC through his counsel Mir Nagman Ali upon the rejection of his application for relief by DIG Prisons (Nagpur). Gawli is undergoing life imprisonment in the central jail here in the 2007 murder case of Mumbai Shiv Sena corporator Kamlakar Jamsandekar. Ali told the bench that the DIG (Prisons) had rejected Gawli's application on the ground that since many offences were registered against the gangster-turned-politician, his release may create a law and order situation.
