Mumbai Dentist Sentenced To Life In Jail For Killing Wife In Front Of Son

A sessions court in Mumbai on Monday sentenced a city-based dentist to life imprisonment for brutally killing his wife in front of their five-year-old son in 2016.

Additional sessions judge PP Bankar found the accused Umesh Bobale guilty of charges under relevant provisions of the Indian Penal Code and sentenced him to life imprisonment.

According to the prosecution, Umesh murdered his estranged wife Tanuja by slitting her throat with a kitchen knife in front of their son.

A total of 34 injuries were found on the victim's body, it stated.

The couple had filed for divorce a few months before the killing, which took place in Dadar area of the city in December 2016.

The trigger for the murder was the estranged couple's disagreement over the alimony amount, which Umesh was supposed to pay once the divorce was finalised, the prosecution said.

The victim's sister in her deposition informed the court that there was a difference of opinion between the couple after six months of marriage and they would quarrel.

Umesh had become suspicious of his wife, as she would come home late from work. When Tanuja became pregnant, he started doubting her character and insisted on having a DNA test done and it proved his paternity, the witness told court.

The prosecution also recorded the testimony of the accused's son, his neighbours and the investigating officer of the case, among others.

Mumbai Cops Get "Truck With Explosives" Threat, Turns Out To Be Hoax

The Mumbai Police on Sunday received a call claiming an explosives-laden tanker was headed towards Goa, an official said, adding the call turned out to be a hoax.

An unidentified person called up the Director General of the Police control room in Mumbai in the afternoon and said a tanker filled with explosives was on the Mumbai-Goa highway.

Police intercepted the tanker, whose description was given by the caller, at Sangameshwar, 290 km from Mumbai, in Ratnagiri district, the official said.

Police checked the tanker but didn't find any suspicious material and allowed it to proceed with the onward journey, he added.

Further investigation is underway.

One More Detained Over Horrific Manipur Video: Cops

Manipur Police has arrested a sixth person in connection with the May 4 parading of two women naked in Kangpokpi district of the state, officials said on Saturday.

Police said the arrested person is a juvenile.

Police had made the first arrest on Thursday, a day after a 26-second video of the horrific incident surfaced on July 19. Three more arrests were made later that day.

The fifth accused, 19-year-old youth, was arrested on Saturday.

One of the women seen in the video is the wife of an ex-army man, who served as a subedar in the Assam Regiment and had even fought in the Kargil War. 

More than 160 people have lost their lives, and several have been injured since ethnic violence broke out in the state on May 3, when a 'Tribal Solidarity March' was organised in the hill districts to protest against the Meitei community's demand for Scheduled Tribe (ST) status.

Meiteis account for about 53 per cent of Manipur's population and live mostly in the Imphal Valley, while tribals, which include Nagas and Kukis, constitute 40 per cent and reside mostly in the hill districts.

मेरठ के सरधना कोतवाली में शॉर्ट सर्किट से लगी भीषण आग, चार सिपाही झुलसे

मेरठ के सरधना कोतवाली के अपराध निरीक्षण भवन में भीषण आग लग गई. आग लगने से थाने के चार सिपाही झुलस गए.आग लगने की सूचना के बाद दमकल की कई गाड़ियां मौके पर पहुंची हैं. पुलिस के मुताबिक, आग शॉर्ट सर्किट से लगी और उसके बाद आग तेजी से फैली. सरधना कोतवाली में लगी आग को कई किलोमीटर दूर से देखा जा सकता है. थाने से धुएं का गुबार निकलता भी नजर आया.  आग की चपेट में आने से कांस्टेबल केशव अत्री और हेड कांस्टेबल सुमित राजोरा गंभीर रूप से झुलस गए हैं. वहीं आग बुझाने के दौरान थाने के ही मुंशी हेमेंद्र और एक अन्‍य सिपाही भी झुलस गए.

पुलिस के मुताबिक, सबसे पहले स्विच बोर्ड में शॉर्ट सर्किट से आग लगी. बरामदे में मैस है, जहां पर खाना बनाया जा रहा था और वहां पर सिलेंडर थे. उन्‍होंने बताया कि सिलेंडर के पाइप ने आग पकड़ ली. इसके चलते सिलेंडर फट गया और जोरदार धमाका हुआ. देखते ही देखते आग अचानक से पूरे बरामदे और अन्‍य कमरों में फैल गई.

उन्‍होंने बताया कि मालखाने में भी आग लगी है. आग पर काबू पा लिया गया है. आग से कितना नुकसान हुआ है इस बारे में अब पता लगाया जाएगा. 

पुलिस के मुताबिक, गंभीर रूप से झुलसे सिपाहियों को मेरठ भेजा जा रहा है. वहीं अन्‍य सिपाहियों का सराधना में ही इलाज किया जा रहा है.

Foreign-Made Watches Worth Rs 30 Crore Seized In Kolkata, 1 Arrested

The Mumbai zonal unit of the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized smuggled high-end watches worth more than Rs 30 crore from the residence of a Kolkata-based man, officials said on Saturday.

Acting of a tip-off, the man was intercepted at the Kolkata airport last week after he arrived from Singapore, and a very expensive Greubel Forsey watch which he had not declared before the customs authorities was seized, A DRI release said here.

While the man was arrested under the Customs Act, his house in an upscale residential complex in Kolkata was searched by officers of the DRI, Mumbai Zonal Unit, it said.

As many as 34 watches of premium foreign brands including Greubel Forsey, Purnell, Louis Vuitton, MB and F, Mad, Rolex, Audemars Piguet and Richard Mille were recovered from the house, the release added.

Most of these were limited edition watches with a total market value of more than Rs 30 crore, it said.

Import of watches by individuals through the baggage attracts 38.5 percent of customs duties.

Further probe was on, the release said.

Informed About Manipur Video In June? What Women's Panel Chief Said

Following the viral video of women being paraded naked in Manipur, National Commission for Women chief Rekha Sharma on Friday said that there were several complaints from people outside the country and Manipur. She also mentioned that NCW is in touch with officers from Manipur. 

Sharma was responding to the reports claiming that NCW has received a complaint through a letter on June 12 mentioning the horrific incident of women being paraded naked on May 4.  

After the video went viral, the commission took suo motu cognisance of it on Friday and sought an explanation from authorities on the matter.

“First of all, my JS is from Manipur and he is continuously in touch with the officers over there on the phone, so we are in touch with the officers in Manipur. Again and again, I am saying that there were many complaints, there was not one specific complaint and that too from people outside India and outside Manipur. So firstly they had to clarify that whatever written is true and the government of Manipur has to clarify. Firstly, it had to be clarified whether whatever was written is true. Manipur Govt has to clarify and if it is true then they have to work on it. So, accordingly, we wrote to them”, said Commission's chief Rekha Sharma.

On July 20, the National Commission for Women (NCW) formally directed the Head of Public Policy at Twitter India to remove the video showing the disgraceful act of two women being paraded naked in Manipur adding that the video compromises the identities of the victims and is a punishable offence.

A letter on June 12 mentions every horrific detail that these two women are still at the relief camp in Manipur.  Notably, a video of two women being paraded naked by a group of men went viral a day earlier which triggered fresh controversy. However, the incident happened in May this year.
Before the commencement of the Monsoon Session of the Parliament, PM Modi said that he is pained by the incident and no accused will be spared. According to a police official, the incident took place on May 4 in Manipur's Thoubal district and a case of abduction, gang rape and murder has been registered in the matter. Four people were arrested on July 20.

देश के 22 राज्यों के 235 जिले बाढ़ से प्रभावित, जानें 22-23 जुलाई को कैसा रहेगा मौसम?

देशभर में मॉनसून की भारी बारिश हो रही है. बारिश के बाद देश के 22 राज्यों के 235 जिले बाढ़ से प्रभावित हैं. कम से कम 10 हजार मकान तबाह हो गए हैं. कई हेक्टेयर फसल भी बारिश और बाढ़ में खराब हो चुकी है. समाचार एजेंसी PTI ने इसकी जानकारी दी. इस बीच महाराष्ट्र में भारी बारिश का अलर्ट है. जबकि उत्तराखंड के सात जिलों में अगले दो दिनों तक भारी बारिश की चेतावनी जारी की गई है.

आइए जानते हैं अगले दो दिन यानी 22 और 23 जुलाई को देश के अलग-अलग राज्यों में कैसा रहेगा मौसम:-  

उत्तराखंड के 7 जिलों में भारी बारिश की चेतावनी
उत्तराखंड में भारी बारिश के बाद लैंडस्लाइड की घटनाएं बढ़ी हैं. आईएमडी ने शनिवार और रविवार को 7 जिलों में भारी बारिश की चेतावनी जारी की है. दो दिनों के लिए ऑरेंज अलर्ट जारी करके सभी जिलों के आपदा प्रबंधन विभाग और जिला प्रशासन को अलर्ट किया गया है. देहरादून, टिहरी, पौड़ी, हरिद्वार, नैनीताल, चंपावत और ऊधमसिंह नगर में भारी बारिश के आसार हैं.

महाराष्ट्र का मौसम
महाराष्ट्र के विदर्भ इलाके में भारी से बहुत भारी बारिश देखने को मिल सकती है. इसी को देखते हुए मौसम विभाग ने ऑरेंज अलर्ट जारी किया है. भारी बारिश के बाद मुंबई समेत कई जिलों के स्कूल बंद कर दिए गए हैं.

रायगढ़ में लैंडस्लाइड से पूरा गांव तबाह
महाराष्ट्र के कई जिलों में कुछ दिनों से हो रही भारी बारिश के बाद हालात खराब हैं. रायगढ़ में लैंडस्लाइड की वजह से पूरा गांव तबाह हो गया. इसमें 16 लोगों की मौत हो गई. रायगढ़ में 6 में से 3 नदियां खतरे के निशान से ऊपर बह रही हैं. इनमें अंबा, सावित्री और पातालगंगा शामिल हैं. कुंडलिका, गढ़ी और उल्हास नदी का जलस्तर खतरे के निशान के करीब पहुंच गया है. बाढ़ जैसे हालात के बीच महाराष्ट्र में NDRF की 12 टीमें तैनात की गई हैं.

कैसा रहेगा दिल्ली का मौसम?
देश की राजधानी नई दिल्ली में शनिवार को न्यूनतम तापमान 28 डिग्री और अधिकतम तापमान 39 डिग्री रह सकता है. वहीं, शनिवार को दिल्ली में बादल छाए रहेंगे. मौसम विभाग की मानें तो शनिवार से नई दिल्ली में बारिश की गतिविधियां दर्ज की जा सकती हैं. 

उत्तर प्रदेश के मौसम का हाल
मौसम विभाग के मुताबिक, उत्तर प्रदेश की राजधानी लखनऊ में शनिवार को न्यूनतम तापमान 29 डिग्री और अधिकतम तापमान 37 डिग्री रह सकता है. वहीं, लखनऊ में आंशिक तौर पर बादल छाए रहेंगे. गाजियाबाद की बात करें तो यहां न्यूनतम तापमान 29 डिग्री और अधिकतम तापमान 37 डिग्री दर्ज किया जा सकता है. वहीं, गाजियाबाद में भी आंशिक तौर पर बादल छाए रहेंगे. आगरा में शुक्रवार से रविवार के बीच बारिश का पूर्वानुमान नहीं है. कानपुर में भी शुक्रवार से रविवार के बीच बारिश की गतिविधियां देखने को नहीं मिलेंगी. 

यूपी के 385 गांवों के 46,830 लोग बाढ़ से प्रभावित 
उत्तर प्रदेश में 13 जिलों - आगरा, अलीगढ, बिजनौर, बदांयू, फर्रुखाबाद, फिरोजाबाद, गाजियाबाद, मथुरा, मेरठ, मुजफ्फरनगर, सहारनपुर, शाहजहांपुर और शामली के 385 गांवों के 46,830 लोग बाढ़ से प्रभावित हुए हैं. पिछले 24 घंटों में किसी भी जिले में 30 मिमी से अधिक बारिश नहीं हुई और प्रभावित इलाकों में राहत एवं बचाव कार्य जारी है. 

हरियाणा में बाढ़ से 12 जिले प्रभावित
हरियाणा में भी बारिश के बाद बाढ़ का कहर है. बाढ़ से 12 जिले प्रभावित हुए हैं. अब तक 35 लोगों की मौत की खबर है. बारिश और बाढ़ से राज्य सरकार को 500 करोड़ का नुकसान हुआ है. सिरसा जिले में घग्गर नदी का पानी दिल्ली-बठिंडा NH-9 तक पहुंच गया है. इसकी वजह से सिरसा शहर के डूबने का खतरा पैदा हो गया है. हरियाणा के पंचकूला, सिरसा समेत कई जिलों में शनिवार-रविवार को भी बारिश का अनुमान है.

इन राज्यों में भी बारिश के आसार
मौसम पूर्वानुमान एजेंसी स्काईमेट के मुताबिक, दक्षिणी गुजरात,  तेलंगाना, दक्षिणी मध्य प्रदेश और उत्तराखंड में एक या दो स्थानों पर हल्की से मध्यम बारिश के साथ कुछ स्थानों पर भारी बारिश हो सकती है. उत्तरी पंजाब, उत्तर-पश्चिम उत्तर प्रदेश, हिमाचल प्रदेश, शेष मध्य प्रदेश, राजस्थान के कुछ हिस्सों, सौराष्ट्र और कच्छ, आंतरिक कर्नाटक, केरल, ओडिशा और छत्तीसगढ़ और अंडमान निकोबार द्वीप समूह में हल्की से मध्यम बारिश संभव है.

इन राज्यों में होगी हल्की बारिश
आईएमडी के मुताबिक पंजाब, हरियाणा, दिल्ली, झारखंड, पश्चिम बंगाल, अरुणाचल प्रदेश, असम, मेघालय में बिजली चमकने के साथ हल्की बारिश हो सकती है.
