उत्तर प्रदेश के शाहजहांपुर नगर निगम के चुनाव में भारतीय जनता पार्टी (BJP) की 48 वर्षीय अर्चना वर्मा 30 हजार से अधिक मतों से चुनाव जीतकर यहां की पहली महापौर (Mayor) बन गई हैं. शाहजहांपुर को नगर निगम का दर्जा मिलने के बाद यहां पहली बार चुनाव हुआ है.

JD(S) second-in-command and two-time chief minister HD Kumaraswamy won the Channapatna seat in Karnataka's Ramanagara district for the sixth time on Saturday.

The Supreme Court Friday said the process of designating 'senior advocate', which has always been held as an "honour conferred", should be carried out at least once a year.
