The Kerala High Court on Friday issued directions to the government to ensure that the boats operating in the State are not overloaded and display prominently the maximum carrying capacity on each vessel.
The court was hearing a suo motu PIL over the tragic boat accident that happened at Tanur on May 7 that claimed 22 lives, including 15 children.
The bench, comprising Justices Devan Ramachandran and Sophy Thomas, noted that overloading was one of the major factors causing a boat accident.

Man Kills 66-Year-Old Mother, Attacks Father With Knife In Thane: Cops
A 31-year-old man allegedly stabbed his mother to death and seriously wounded his father in Maharashtra's Thane city on Thursday, police said.
A manhunt has been launched for the accused, said senior inspector Rajesh Babshetty of Kasarwadavali police station.
The deceased was identified as Vinita Bhatkar, 66, who lived with her husband in the Kopri area.
As per preliminary information, the accused attacked his parents with a kitchen knife around 12 noon following a quarrel.

Considering Recruiting Women As Paramilitary Constables: Centre
Centre has told the Delhi High Court it is considering introducing provisions for recruitment of females to the post of Constable/ Driver and Constable/Driver-cum-Pump Operator (Driver for Fire Services) in CISF at par with males.

गुजरात के दाहोद शहर की एक अदालत ने तीन साल पहले अपनी 6 साल की भांजी के साथ दुष्कर्म करने के बाद उसकी हत्या करने के मामले में एक व्यक्ति को बुधवार को मौत की सजा सुनाई. विशेष लोक अभियोजक प्रकाश जैन के मुताबिक यौन अपराधों से बच्चों के संरक्षण अधिनियम (पॉक्सो) के विशेष न्यायाधीश सी के चौहान की अदालत ने इस मामले में बच्ची के मामा को भारतीय दंड संहिता (आईपीसी) की धारा 302 (हत्या) और 376 (दुष्कर्म) के अलावा पॉक्सो अधिनियम की धारा छह के तहत दोषी ठहराते हुए मौत की सजा सुनाई.
