3 Jail Officials Suspended After "Objectionable Material' Found In Prisons

Three senior jail superintendents were suspended after "objectionable material" was found in their prisons during a search conducted on April 1, an official said on Tuesday.

Police, however, did not immediately identify the "objectionable material".

Shashikant Singh, senior jail superintendent of Naini Central Prison in Prayagraj; Avinash Gautam, senior jail superintendent of Banda district prison; and Rajeev Shukla, senior jail superintendent of Bareilly district prison, were suspended for administrative laxity after "objectionable material" was found in their prisons on April 1, a jail department official told PTI.

On March 13, six Bareilly district jail officials, including the jailor and deputy jailor, were suspended for facilitating illegal meetings of visitors with gangster-turned-politician Atiq Ahmed's brother Ashraf, who has been lodged in the prison since July 2020.

The action was taken on the basis of an inquiry report of DIG (Prison) R N Pandey.

Police sources had earlier said that nine members of the Atiq Ahmad gang had met Ashraf in Bareilly district jail on February 11 and allegedly hatched the conspiracy to kill Umesh Pal -- a key witness in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.

Umesh Pal and his police security guards Sandeep Nishad and Raghvendra Singh were shot dead on February 24 outside his home in Prayagraj's Dhoomanganj.

Based on a complaint lodged by Umesh Pal's wife Jaya Pal, a case was registered at Dhoomanganj police station against Atiq Ahmad, his wife Shaista Parveen, Ashraf, two sons, aides Guddu Muslim and Ghulam, and nine others.

"Stay In Five-Star, Instigate Riots And Go..." Mamata Banerjee Targets BJP

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday attacked the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-led Centre alleging central forces came to the state to instigate riots.

Mamata Banerjee was on a visit to Purba Medinipur on Monday where she distributed public welfare services to the people.

Addressing the gathering here, Ms Banerjee said, "Here the Central Forces came, stayed in a five-star hotel, instigated riots. They then held a meeting with BJP people and returned. Before their arrival, first of all ask should them where is the money for 100 days of employment (MGNREGA)? First tell that, then come to Bengal to incite riots."

CM Banerjee urged the people to not vote for BJP in the upcoming Panchayat polls and 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

"I will do everything for you (people), but you are requested not to support BJP, the party that creates riots, in Panchayat and 2024 elections," she added.

Notably, ruckus and stone pelting erupted during the BJP's Shobha yatra in Hooghly on Sunday. Earlier on Thursday, several vehicles were set on fire after two groups clashed in Howrah amid Ram Navami celebrations.

During the procession, the rioters vandalized public and private properties and set vehicles on fire.

Meanwhile, allegations and counter-allegations continued to fly between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the principal opposition party BJP on the issue.

Soon after the reports of the violence Union Home Minister Amit Shah had spoken to the Bengal Governor CV Ananda Bose on the issue. In fact, the union home secretary has sought a detailed report from the state on the violence.

West Bengal BJP demanded National Investigation Agency (NIA) probe into the violence.

Delhi: युवक की हत्या कर प्लास्टिक के बोरे में डालकर शव को फेंका, संदिग्ध आरोपी फरार

राजधानी दिल्ली के नबी करीम इलाके में सोमवार सुबह प्लास्टिक के बोरे में एक युवक का शव मिलने से सनसनी फैल गई. खबर मिलते ही पुलिस अधिकारी मौके पर पहुंच गए. मृतक करीब 35 साल के युवक की पहचान नहीं हो सकी है. उसके सिर पर किसी भारी चीज से चोट के निशान थे. पुलिस ने शव को कब्जे में लेकर पोस्टमार्टम के लिए आरएमएल अस्पताल की मोर्चरी भेज दिया है. शुरुआती जांच के बाद गली में ही रहने वाले एक शख्स पर युवक की हत्या करने का शक जताया जा रहा है. वारदात के बाद से आरोपी अपना घर बंद कर फरार है. पुलिस उसकी तलाश कर रही है.

पुलिस के मुताबिक सोमवार सुबह करीब 7.27 बजे नबी करीम थाने की पुलिस को सूचना मिली कि राजधानी मेडिकोज के पास प्लास्टिक के एक बोरे में युवक का शव पड़ा है. सूचना मिलते ही पुलिस की टीम तुरंत वहां पहुंच गई. क्राइम टीम के अलावा एफएसएल की टीम को बुला लिया गया. मौके से साक्ष्य जुटाने के बाद पुलिस ने शव को कब्जे में लेकर मोर्चरी भेजा है. जांच के दौरान पुलिस को पता चला कि उसके सिर पर किसी भारी वस्तु से वारकर हत्या की गई है.

छानबीन के बाद पुलिस को घटना स्थल के पास गली नंबर-10, मुल्तानी ढांडा में जमीन पर खून पड़ा मिला. उसके आधार पर पुलिस ने सीसीटीवी की जांच की. घटना स्थल से चंद मीटर दूर एक मकान में संदिग्ध युवक का पुलिस को पता चला उसके घर पर छापेमारी करने पर वह घर से गायब मिला. पुलिस ने हत्या और सबूत मिटाने का मामला दर्ज कर आरोपी की तलाश शुरू कर दी है.

Andhra To Distribute Housing Plots To Nearly 50,000 Poor People In Amravati

The Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (CRDA) will distribute housing plots to 48,218 people of economically weaker sections from Krishna and Guntur districts, said an official on Monday.

Spread across six villages and 1,135 acres, these plots will be doled out to those who do not own houses in Mandadam, Inavolu, Krishnayapalem, Navuluru, Kuragallu and Nidamanuru.

“The state government has made amendments to the CRDA Act to facilitate allotment of house sites to the poor. According to Section 41(3), (4) of the CRDA Act, the government has created R5 zone and brought various lands under its jurisdiction,” said the official in a statement.

The southern state has issued a gazette notification to this effect after sifting through objections and suggestions, including interacting with the public in October.

Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the district collectors of Krishna and Guntur to prepare the detailed project reports (DPR), along with the list of beneficiaries and pass them over to the CRDA.

According to the government, the beneficiaries of these plots will receive the house pattas (documents) in the third phase of the 'Navaratnalu houses for the poor programme, which is in sync with the GO issued recently on allotting plots to the poor in Amaravati.

Meanwhile, Reddy instructed officials to draw up an action plan for creating the basic infrastructure for the construction of houses.

He directed them to expedite the procedures so that work could begin in the first week of May.

PM Likely To Hold Over 15 Rallies In Karnataka Ahead Of Assembly Elections

In the run-up to the keenly contested battle for Karnataka, the Bharatiya Janata Party is keen to brighten its prospects on the popularity of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the party's biggest face.

"We are hoping that PM Modi holds between 15-20 rallies in Karnataka ahead of May 10 polling," a senior BJP leader told ANI.

The BJP, which is ruling Karnataka and is hoping to return to power, will be pitching for growth under the "double-engine government".

PM Modi would likely visit the state this weekend, his first visit since the announcement of assembly election dates and eighth visit to the state this year. He will visit in Mysuru.

A Karnataka BJP MP said that the party has strong organisational base in the state.

"The biggest factor that stands out for us is the commitment of the Narendra Modi government at the Centre which has ensured that peace and development goes hand in hand in the state," the MP said.

In the run up to the state polls, BJP appointed Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan as its election incharge. Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya and TN BJP chief Annamalai are co-incharges.

Chief Minister Basvaraj Bommai is heading the party's campaign committee. The election management committee is headed by union minister Shobha Karandlaje.

The counting of votes for the assembly polls will take place on May 13.

शुद्ध प्रत्‍यक्ष कर संग्रह में बीते वित्त वर्ष में बंपर उछाल, 18% की बढ़ोतरी के साथ 16.61 लाख करोड़ रुपये

बीते वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 में शुद्ध प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह संशोधित बजट अनुमान से अधिक यानी 16.61 लाख करोड़ रुपये रहा है. वित्त मंत्रालय ने सोमवार को वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 के लिए कर संग्रह के अस्थायी आंकड़े जारी करते हुए कहा कि हाल ही में समाप्त वित्त वर्ष में प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह 16.61 लाख करोड़ रुपये रहा है, जबकि इसका बजट अनुमान 14.20 लाख करोड़ रुपये था. बजट अनुमान को बाद में संशोधित कर 16.50 लाख करोड़ रुपये कर दिया गया था. इस तरह शुद्ध प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह संशोधित अनुमान से 0.69 प्रतिशत अधिक रहा. 

वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 की तुलना में शुद्ध प्रत्यक्ष कर संग्रह 17.63 प्रतिशत बढ़ा है. एक साल पहले यह 14.12 लाख करोड़ रुपये था. 

वित्त मंत्रालय के मुताबिक, वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 में सकल कॉरपोरेट कर संग्रह एक साल पहले की तुलना में 16.91 प्रतिशत बढ़कर 10.04 लाख करोड़ रुपये हो गया. 

समाप्त वित्त वर्ष में सकल व्यक्तिगत आयकर संग्रह (एसटीटी समेत) 9.60 लाख करोड़ रुपये रहा. इस तरह इसमें वित्त वर्ष 2021-22 के 7.73 लाख करोड़ रुपये की तुलना में 24.23 प्रतिशत वृद्धि दर्ज की गई है. 

वित्त वर्ष 2022-23 में 3,07,352 करोड़ रुपये का रिफंड भी जारी किया गया जो एक साल पहले के 2,23,658 करोड़ रुपये की तुलना में 37.42 प्रतिशत अधिक है.

इतिहास से मुगल बाहर? CBSE और UP बोर्ड के 12वीं के पाठ्यक्रम में मुगल काल पर चली कैंची

मुगल साम्राज्य (Mughal Empire) से जुड़े अध्‍याय अब सीबीएसई और यूपी बोर्ड के 12वीं कक्षा के छात्रों के इतिहास के पाठ्यक्रम का हिस्सा नहीं होंगे. एक शीर्ष अधिकारी ने NDTV को बताया कि स्कूली शिक्षा पर केंद्र और राज्य की शीर्ष सलाहकार संस्था एनसीईआरटी ने इतिहास के पाठ्यक्रम में संशोधन किया है और सीबीएसई की 12वीं कक्षा की मध्यकालीन इतिहास की पाठ्यपुस्तकों से 'किंग्स एंड क्रॉनिकल्स' और 'द मुगल कोर्ट्स' के अध्यायों को हटा दिया गया है. उत्तर प्रदेश के सरकारी स्कूल एनसीईआरटी की 12वीं कक्षा की नई इतिहास की पाठ्यपुस्तकों को अपनाएंगे, जिसमें मुगलों के बारे में अंश हटा दिए गए हैं. 

उपमुख्यमंत्री ब्रजेश पाठक ने कहा, "हम अपने छात्रों को एनसीईआरटी की किताबों से पढ़ाते हैं. संशोधित संस्करण में जो कुछ भी है, उसका पालन किया जाएगा."

अतिरिक्त मुख्य सचिव (बेसिक और माध्यमिक शिक्षा) दीपक कुमार ने बदलाव की पुष्टि की है. कुमार ने पीटीआई से कहा, "हम एनसीईआरटी की किताबों का पालन करते हैं और संशोधित संस्करण में जो कुछ भी उपलब्ध है, उसका हम राज्य के स्कूलों में 2023-24 सत्र से पालन करेंगे."

12वीं कक्षा की राजनीति विज्ञान की किताबों को संशोधित किया गया है. 'राइज ऑफ पॉपुलर मूवमेंट्स' - भारत में समाजवादी और कम्युनिस्ट पार्टियों के उदय के बारे में और 'एरा ऑफ़ वन पार्टी डॉमिनेंस' - स्वतंत्रता के बाद के युग में कांग्रेस शासन से जुड़े पाठ हटा दिए गए हैं. 

इसके साथ ही 10वीं और 11वीं कक्षा की पाठ्यपुस्तकों में भी बदलाव किए गए हैं. कक्षा 10 की राजनीति विज्ञान की किताबों से 'डेमोक्रेसी एंड डाइवर्सिटी', 'पॉपुलर स्‍ट्रगल एंड मूवमेंट्स' वाले चैप्टर हटा दिए गए हैं. वहीं 11वीं की इतिहास की किताबों से 'सेंट्रल इस्लामिक लैंड्स' और 'कंफ्रंटेशन ऑफ कल्‍चर्स' जैसे चैप्टर भी हटा दिए गए हैं.

एनसीईआरटी के वरिष्ठ अधिकारी ने इन बदलावों की पुष्टि की और कहा कि इस साल (2023-24) से ही पाठ्यक्रम को लागू कर दिया जाएगा. 

इनमें से कई बदलावों की घोषणा 2022 की शुरुआत में की गई थी, जब सीबीएसई ने अप्रैल में अपने पाठ्यक्रम में बदलाव किया था. सीबीएसई के तहत आने वाले स्कूलों के साथ ही कुछ राज्य बोर्ड भी एनसीईआरटी की पाठ्यपुस्तकों का उपयोग करते हैं. 

एनसीईआरटी ने एक नोट में कहा था, "पाठ्यपुस्तकों की सामग्री को कई कारणों से तर्कसंगत बनाया गया है, जिसमें एक ही कक्षा में अन्‍य विषयों में समान सामग्री के साथ ओवरलैपिंग सहित एक ही विषय पर निचली या उच्च कक्षाओं में समान सामग्री शामिल है.
