Indian-Origin Worker Suspended By Singapore Migrant Workers Charity

A migrant workers charity based in Singapore on Tuesday suspended a top Indian-origin employee following allegations of misappropriation of funds.

In a statement, the Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (HOME) said its executive director Deshi Gill was suspended until an internal inquiry, according to a Channel News Asia report.

"After preliminary investigations, we believe there is a basis for suspected misconduct," said HOME, which handles migrant workers employed in labour-intensive industries, including those from India.

HOME said it has notified the relevant authorities of the development.

"HOME's board and staff will provide all necessary information as part of any investigations that will be carried out," it said.

It did not divulge further details about the extent of fraud that Gill was allegedly associated with.

Gill, who has been working with HOME since 2017, was appointed as the executive director in July 2021, according to a Facebook post by the charity.

The charity group said on its website that it provides immediate crisis intervention as well as long-term support such as education and training programmes to help improve migrant workers' well-being and employment prospects.

सोनू सूद के अप्रत्याशित परिस्थिति के तुरंत समाधान ने एक जिंदगी बचाने में मदद की. सोनू इमिग्रेशन काउंटर पर थे और इंतजार कर रहे थे. चंद सेकेंड में ही एक अधेड़ व्यक्ति होश खो बैठा और मौके पर ही बेहोश हो गया. सोनू सूद ने व्यक्ति के सिर को सहारा दिया और तुरंत कार्डियोपल्मोनरी रिससिटेशन (सीपीआर) शुरू किया. कुछ मिनटों के बाद, उस व्यक्ति ने अपनी सांस ली और आम जनता के साथ-साथ इमिग्रेशन अधिकारियों ने अभिनेता की सराहना की. शख्स ने जान बचाने के लिए उनका शुक्रिया भी अदा किया.

काम के मोर्चे पर सोनू सूद बहुत जल्द एक्शन थ्रिलर फतेह में नजर आने वाले हैं. वह इस फिल्म को प्रोड्यूस भी कर रहे हैं. जबकि फिल्म का निर्देशन वैभव मिश्रा कर रहे हैं. फिल्म फतेह एक सच्ची कहानी पर आधारित है। इस फिल्म में सोनू सूद अपने अब तक के सबसे अलग किरदार में दिखाई देंगे. फिल्म फतेह इस साल के मध्य में सिनेमाघरों में रिलीज होगी. सोनू सूद आखिरी बार फिल्म सम्राट पृथ्वीराज चौहान में नजर आए थे. इस फिल्म में उनके साथ अभिनेता अक्षय कुमार मुख्य भूमिका में थे. हालांकि सोनू सूद की यह फिल्म बॉक्स ऑफिस पर खास कमाल नहीं दिखा सकी.

Bars To Shut By Midnight In Rajasthan, Says Ashok Gehlot

Bars and clubs in Rajasthan will have to shut by midnight, announced Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, adding that his government will also urge the centre to bring a law on social security.

The Chief Minister contended that bars and clubs run till late night and are mushrooming in every lane and bylane.

"These bars and clubs run till late, sometimes upto 3 or 4 am. They have mushroomed in very lane and bylane. We will see later how to regulate them. For now, we have decided that these bars should shut latest by 11:30 pm or 12 midnight, so that people can go home and be with their families," said Mr Gehlot.

"The Rajasthan cabinet will pass a resolution requesting the Centre to have a law on social security for all," he added.

The Chief Minister underlined that his government was working on a priority to uplift every section of society through transparent, accountable and sensitive good governance.

Rajasthan will face elections in the next few months.

Mumbai Saw 30% Drop In Road Accident Deaths In 2022, Say Traffic Police

Mumbai witnessed a decline in casualties due to road accidents by 30 per cent in 2022 compared to the previous year thanks to the awareness campaigns conducted by the traffic police, a senior official said on Monday.

At least 268 people were killed in 257 road accidents in the city last year, while 387 people lost their lives in 376 accidents in 2021, joint commissioner of police (Traffic) Pravin Padwal said.

It is a good sign that in 2022 the traffic police recorded 30 per cent less deaths in road accidents compared to 2021, he said.

The number of fatal accidents has also dropped and the decline can be attributed to the frequent awareness programmes and campaigns conducted by the traffic police, the official said during the road safety week, which will end on January 17.

"We will launch more campaigns in the coming days to make people aware about traffic norms and ways to follow them," he said, adding that a Bollywood personality has also been roped in to be part of a drive.

Seatbelts have been made compulsory for drivers and passengers in four-wheelers, while helmets are mandatory for two-wheeler riders and those riding pillion, the official said, urging people to cooperate with the traffic police.

Man Arrested In Maharashtra Tiger Poaching Case Escapes From Custody

A man arrested along with three others in a tiger poaching case allegedly tried to escape from custody after assaulting forest department officials.

The four were held after a tiger was found dead in Paoni buffer area of Pench Reserve on January 12, an official said on Monday.

"The four were remanded in the custody of the forest department till January 17 by a Ramtek court. However, one of the accused tried to escape after assaulting staffers on Sunday. Range Forest Officer Jayesh Tayde lodged a complaint against him in Deolapar police station," a release from Pench Tiger Reserve Deputy Director Prabhunath Shukla said.

He has been remanded in police custody in connection with the complaint by Tayde, it said.

It said some more tiger parts have been seized from the accused along with the weapon used in the crime, adding efforts were on to arrest more persons involved in the poaching incident.

बॉलीवुड फिल्म द कश्मीर फाइल्स की अभिनेत्री पल्लवी जोशी एक फिल्म की शूटिंग करते वक्त घायल हो गई हैं. इन दिनों वह पति फिल्मकार विवेक अग्निहोत्री की फिल्म द वैक्सीन वॉर की जोर-शोर से शूटिंग कर रही हैं. इन दिनों फिल्म की शूटिंग हैदराबाद में चल रही है. इस फिल्म में पल्लवी जोशी अहम भूमिका निभा रही हैं. सोमवार को फिल्म की शूटिंग के वक्त उन्हें चोट लग गई और वह घायल हो गई हैं. शूटिंग लोकेशन पर मौजूद सूत्रों ने जानकारी देते हुए बताया है कि एक वाहन ने नियंत्रण खो दिया और अभिनेत्री को टक्कर मार दी.

हालांकि घायल होने के बाद भी पल्लवी जोशी ने अपना शॉट पूरा किया और उसके बाद इलाज के लिए चली गई. फिलहाल पल्लवी जोशी का इलाज हैदराबाद के एक स्थानीय अस्पताल में चल रहा है और बताया ज रहा है कि अब वह ठीक हैं. आपको बता दें कि पिछले साल पल्लवी जोशी ने फिल्म द कश्मीर फाइल्स से काफी सुर्खियां बटोरी थीं. इस फिल्म में उनके किरदार को खूब पसंद किया गया था. फिल्म द कश्मीर फाइल्स की सफलता के बाद बीते दिनों विवेक अग्निहोत्री ने फिल्म द वैक्सीन वॉर की घोषणा की थी. 

फिल्म द वैक्सीन वॉर 15 अगस्त 2023 दुनियाभर के बॉक्स ऑफिस पर रिलीज किया जाएगा. यह फिल्म हिंदी, अंग्रेजी, तेलुगु, तमिल, मलयालम, कन्नड़, भोजपुरी, पंजाबी, गुजराती, मराठी और बंगाली सहित 10 से अधिक भाषाओं में रिलीज की जाएगी. फिल्म द वैक्सीन वॉर भारतीय बायो साइंटिस्ट और स्वदेशी वैक्सीन के बारे में कुछ चैप्टर्स खोलेगी. ये फिल्म इस महीने से फ्लोर्स पर जाने के लिए तैयार है.
